Congratulations!! How exciting!!

I agree with you about the protein. When I was trying to build strength and lose weight at 50yrs, my trainer told me to stay in my calorie budget, eat back half tge exercise calories, and shoot for 100g protein. She said not to worry about the carbs and fats, but my percentages generally worked out 35% protein/35% fat/30%…

Those pictures show a big difference! You're hourglass figure is emerging nicely. Don't let the scale steal your joy. You're staying the course on a great path. Congratulations!

It's definitely not too late! I lost 40 lbs at age 50, and I'm in the best shape of my life. You can do this! Just stay faithful to your calorie deficit and don't get super extreme about anything. Eat in a way you are willing to continue for life, and find movement you enjoy.

Had a good strength workout and a lot of socializing yesterday, so today I feel quiet. I did take a nice walk in the neighborhood to stretch my legs and get fresh air. My goal is to walk some on my rest days even if it's more of a stroll. The weather is gorgeous here right now. Of course, what I really need to do is mow…

@kcstar73 the price I saw was $69, but I may try again and see if it drops low enough to make it worth a try. I guess I could log both places for awhile if need be. I'll keep an open mind. At least, like @eturtlet said, I know where folks are! This morning was rough. I had bad dreams all night and woke up exhausted. Bleh.…

I've about decided not to fool with MND. Technology isn't my strong suit, and I don't want to spend the energy learning a new site. Right now my desire is to rekindle my interest in fitness after a very disjointed few months. My weight has been slowly drifting in the wrong direction, and I can feel stirrings of a familiar…

@eturtlet Thanks! I had reposted my newsfeed post earlier, but MFP ate it, saying I wasn't aloud to reply to myself. So, basically, because I started the thread. I couldn't post again until someone else did. Guess y'all will get tomorrow's post instead because I'm too tired tonight. @poisonesse thanjs! I'm not on FB, but…

Testing 123... it ate my last post

Why not just make the Newsfeed a premium feature? Frankly, that would be more valuable than most of the premium features....and I say that as a premium user. I pay because it helps me psychologically to make that investment in myself, but otherwise, the difference between premium and free never seemed that much to me. I…

How do you like MND?? Is it free or do you have to pay? My first impulse was to stay on MFP, but I may rethink that if there's a better option. Do they have anything like the newsfeed we're losing here?

I like this idea, too. It seems the right amounts of consolidatuon and order to make things nice. @momopeach32 Thanks for the PM...I'm here!

Hello! I like the idea @sh0tzz99 has about having a Monthy Chat thread where everything can go. Otherwise we'll end up with a zillion random threads and no continuity. I don't want to overstep since I'm new here, but maybe @Trishcolli or one of the other leaders could start one for June??
-
Hi Ronnie! You made it! Right now there seem yo be seversl threads, but I figure it'll sort itself out.

I'm here--thank you eturtlet and poisonesse

Congratulations!!

@AnnPT77 ...good point about the HIIT problem. I should have been more clear. I only use that when I'm doing kettlebells as part of a fast-paced interval workout in a class or with a trainer. I know it's probably not technically HIIT, but that designation is close enough for my purposes. It might not be for others, though,…

I'm 53, 154 lbs, and doing strength training to recomp. My trainer has me eating 1500 calories daily, @120g protein without eating back exercise calories.
-
I log them as either Strength Training or HIIT depending on how I'm using them.

I agree with what the others said about people needing time to get used to the new you. I would also add that you may temporarily look a bit gaunt in certain spots while your skin tightens up. (I can't tell from the photo, but you husband will obviously see you IRL) One of my friends secretly thought I'd gotten too thin…

Yes, I totally eat at maintenance when I need to. It's a great strategy for those times when a deficit just isn't going to happen. Not only does it keep you from going off the rails, it's good practice for the time when you reach maintenance weight for real. Then, too, sometimes you just need a mental break from trying to…

What a fabulous perspective you've offered here! Your story is going to inspire many people. You look amazing, and your attitude is fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

That's a fabulous idea @lengrey.

Awesome job!!

I've never done WW, but I normally use my macros to guide my food choices. Making sure I get enough protein tends to help me choose chicken over chips. It also helps me feel more satisfied.

Thanks, all of you for your kind wirds. :blushing:

Somebody posted photos from the ladies brunch I went to this morning. Now I'm in maintenance--thinner and fitter than I've ever been my whole life, but I STILL don't like how I look in most photos. I thought reaching goal weight would change that, but it hasn't. I can leave the house feeling SO cute only to have it TOTALLY…

Life has prevented me from going to the gym today like I'd planned, and I'm crawling the walls. Might as well consider that an NDV because otherwise I'm just restless!! 🤪😉

I didn't realize how much of this journey would be about identity and not weight. That is, I started out with an understanding of who I was that went along with the weight I was and what my body could do at that time. That identity included a lot of unconscious fears and limitations. Lots of "I could never do X" type of…
