  • well, after nixing the drugs and trying actual lifestyle changes with no drugs, my a1c is 5.3 i donated my insulin yesterday, that felt pretty good
  • 467/ 280…only 100 more to go… I got this!!!
  • i've always enjoyed yogurt....so it isn't a sacrifice for me i don't limit dairy, but it's such an easy way to get fat and protein that if i'm not careful, i'll start mooing after a while....i love cheese, yogurt, sour cream, heavy whipping cream..., but also recognize, I'm trying to create a calorie deficit as well and…
  • high for me, everyone is different....as a rule, carbs are about 20% of my calories, about 30% protein, and the rest is fat...sometimes i back off a bit on fat and do a little more protein...best i could tell, they recommend a minimum 130gs a day for me...but as high as 45-65% of my daily calories...that wasn't going to…
  • i know there are alternatives, and i bet they are just oh so good, they probably taste just like pancakes do, provided you've never actually eaten a pancake
  • You are blessed to have folks you trust and can work with. I didn't give them much of a chance when my doctors offered help from a nutritionist. I'm not a 'just say no to doctors' guy, but I saw their approach. Insulin, fairly high carb, more insulin...It looked like a trap. I went rogue and started cutting carbs big time.…
  • i had to think about this one for a while... :D
  • good on you for getting out there with the kids....they are watching how their mom lives :)
  • Just saw my endocrinologist… instead of 4 times a day, I’m down to once a day insulin…. Exercise and better nutrition made that happen I have a path to zero insulin with some benchmarks and a schedule in place…doc says… keep this up and you’ll be off insulin soon <happy dance>
  • A little good nutrition and some persistence and you’ll get it back. It’s the long term ya gotta watch out for. If you start… lose some weight, you’ll lose some muscle… if you gain it back, you’ll gain mostly fat, and only a bit of the muscle you lost… yo-yo like that a few times over years and you’ll have real troubles
  • one of my big "Dad" speeches to my son was this You will find very few people in life who truly love you and show you love. These are people like your mom and I and some of the very special friends and family members to whom you are close. There will not be many like this. On the other hand, you will encounter truly evil…
  • if you've figured out a way for an obsessive person not to obsess, clue me in i'm a little CDO (I put the letters in alphabetical order, where they belong!!) while looking for a way to properly wash my motorcycle, i became a professional detailer and now do it as a side hustle for me the problem isn't being obsessed or too…
  • went in to the big guy store with a pair of 56" waist jeans and a 4x shirt on i've lost a bit and stuff is starting to hang off me the fella in the store has been helping me for years, he immediately noticed and complimented me I suggested we try 50" and a 3x, he suggested 48" and 2x his suggestion fit great, was nice to…
  • at lunch i had a low carb, non fat greek yogurt, vanilla flavored....blueberries, and almonds 22g of carbs, crunchy with the almonds, and sweet with both the vanilla flavored yogurt and the blueberries change it up by nixing the blueberries and going with strawberries, blackberries, or raspberries instead for crunch,…
  • its the trend line over time that matters....btw...5lbs in a month is pretty good, imho
  • if you are wearing a fitness tracker, you'll get a few more steps :D from your lips to the other end, you are basically a 23' long tube....with many twists and turns....i really don't think it amounts to a hill of beans as to whether you sit or stand major on the majors and don't worry about this one
  • it went really well, i was a bit over budget, and I learned what a whole lot of carbs at once does to my blood sugar....took about 3 hrs, but it was the highest it's been in weeks....about 170ish...that's not alarmingly high though....i roller coastered a bit all day the next day though, mostly dealing with low sugar…
  • big difference, i bet it feels great!!!
  • This will be the first time we've met friends or colleagues for dinner in a long time. It's pretty rare. I manage a small department and once a year, my wife and I like to take my supervisors our for a nice dinner. Thanks for the responses. Rather than wing it, I have a plan. My only firm boundary is to do my best to log…
  • being a little heavier in the midsection, sometimes my jacket rubs up against the gas tank i'm a detailer and the bike is coated in ceramic...the little bit of scuffs and marring drive me nuts and I know when I'm a bit thinner, a smaller belly will resolve the issue
  • my story is different, but for what it's worth, i'm considerably bigger....currently at 325ish, on the way to 185 because of my size, and sex. I burn quite a few more calories....so I think the fact that you are a 51 year old female is a factor, but just part of the equation 7 weeks is a long plateau, but they…
  • there is likely nothing for you to be concerned about, unless it persists if you told me you were super active and all of a sudden you're having this pain, I'd say...hmmm...see a doc someone who hasn't been exercising and now has discomfort, especially a 50 something year old...my thoughts are....yup....you aren't as young…
  • oh yeah, i see where you're going with this....yeah...i haven't had pasta in three weeks...it's just an expensive food to fit in the mfp budget :)
  • Have a great day. If you're here to get healthy, for any reason, than good on you.
  • I am up and off the ground once again. 20 days straight and some pretty cool things are already happening. I'll get up off the ground as many times as it takes. I started about 5 years ago and lost about 130 lbs. That was 480 down to 350. I should have kept going, but there is no sense in talking about the "Been…
  • GMI was 5.7 as of this morning, it's not the only indicator, but for my situation, it's not a bad thing :)
  • i tried to click on hug, like, and inspiring...i could only pick one....i left it on inspiring...we will never win a war if we let the enemy camp in our head
  • but it's really not rocket science :) if we don't take the time to understand this, who is going to do it for us? for me it started with logging, and being as faithful as I could be to do that every time I ate....then once I started logging faithfully, i started looking at where I could log more accurately....im just now…
  • Only thing I have to offer is a word of encouragement here and there. I'm looking for some friends who are trying to get healthier too. Hit me up.
  • I'm very new. I've been logging faithfully for only 17 days. I started out being very careful about what I am eating and have gotten a bit better at keeping that accurate. In this short time, I have reduced my calories, but significantly increased the quality of food I'm eating. As well, I started using an activity tracker…
