  • Hello Faith. I am disabled so I'm not going to exercise as much or in the same way as someone who doesn't have my issues. Thankfully you can lose weight without exercise. You just have to create a calorie deficit. I would talk to your doctor about what exercise is safe for you to do at just try to move as much as you can.

  • Hello Tammy. In weight loss food is more important than exercise. You simply can't exercise off over eating. So keeping track of your food will definitely improve your results. However through that exercise you have made your body stronger so it wasn't a waste. Feel accomplished for that.

  • I would aim more towards feeling good and being healthy than dropping weight fast. If you don't eat properly you aren't going to have energy to last in Florida for a week. I lived there… July is hot. Like stepped in a shower fully clothed hot. It would be a shame to make yourself weak because you wanted to lose weight that…
  • Hello Ammo. I don't have scoliosis but I do have ruptured disks in my back and a genetic condition that by definition is 'bone spurs' all over my body. So I understand your condition. I would consult with a orthopedic doctor and physical therapist. What might be good for me might cost you the ability to move. Losing weight…

  • Welcome back to mfp Angela. You will find that your story is very common. I've joined, quit, joined and quit. Third time is the charm because I plan to stay. You will find a path that works for you.

  • Welcome! At your activity level and weight I would shoot for one pound a week. You are ALWAYS going to weigh something. So there is no reason to try to drop weight quickly. If you aim for 1 pound and lose 1.5lbs then you will be happy. If you aim for 2 and have to make yourself miserable while you do it then you are going…

  • IBS presents in different ways. For me fiber helped mine. chia seeds, flax seeds, vegetables. Look for foods with added fiber.

  • My highest weight was 245lbs. I got to down to 216lbs and went back up to 238lbs. so you are not alone. There is no point in being down on yourself for regaining weight. You can't change the past. What you can do is make choices now and shape your future. I am currently at 215 lbs. And working my way to being 150lbs which…

  • Welcome to mfp Ella. I'm sure you'll make your goal. I'm glad you realize that being healthy doesn't have to be a miserable process. Most people here have their own issues. So we are all in similar boats. If it were easy, no one would be overweight.

  • Hello and welcome to mfp. Sounds to me that you need to change doctors. There are medical issues that can make losing weight more difficult for some but for 95% of the time, physics doesn't change. If you put yourself into a calorie deficit you will lose weight. Find a new doctor and start increasing your knowledge about…
