I disagree with your disagreement! [edited] wow...way too late.

I really like this one. It gets the point across without being overtly rude.

How about, "Absolutely. And, good luck with the humanity classes. Maybe they'll take this time."

In July, My HDL was 30. Since late August I have been exercising regularly and kept my net-calories to 1600 per day, losing 15 pounds. Just got back from the Doc this morning...HDL is up to 38 Total cholesterol down from 203 to 178. LDL couldn't be measured in July, due to high triglycerides, but is 84 now.

And heart disease, and respiratory disease, and high blood pressure, and ......

Then again, nothing takes away your appetite quite like "Man vs. Food". Watching Adam struggle to finish a 10 pound burrito certainly doesn't make me hungry.

The best description I've heard for all these shows is "food porn". And, just as watching porn gets one revved-up for sex, IMO, these shows get one revved-up for eating. Of course, porn with a pizza delivery guy kinda covers both bases. :)

Thanks for the second post. I was trying to figure out the bleeped-out word, and I couldn't get it.

candidly, I see some belly bulges in the the before that aren't there in the after.

So, that's like 20 calories per session?:explode:

My weight is perfect. But, I'm too short.

I ride quite a bit each Summer, but it's tough in the Winter. Every year, the first two or three weeks, my butt gets really sore. Just keep riding through it, and you should be fine in another week or so. I have a work buddy who rides A LOT. He rides 25 miles each way to work two or three days a week in the summer. He took…

I have a Jewish mother. It kills her when we go to dinner and I don't have a plate overflowing with food. She's not intentionally sabotaging me, but she tries to put things on my plate, order extra food for me, etc. For her, it comes from a culture where food represents security and caring. So, more is always better, for…

You can do it, I know you can. The big thing is, don't expect it all to fall off in a week. It will take time, but slow and steady definitely wins this race. One other thing, you say you're new to dieting. Most of the folks here that I've talked with don't think of it as a diet. it's creating new habits and patterns and a…

Most regular yogurt is way too sweet for my taste. But I love the tang of Chobani. Something about the bitter & sour along with the sweet that I really like.

Last time I went to a Mexican place, I had chicken mole. That's something I love anyway, and it was about the best thing on the menu, nutrition-wise.

Yikes...I can have six pieces of candy and call it a day!

I suspect that it's like asking the price of a luxury item...if you have to ask, you can't afford it. :smokin:

If I knew then what I know now I would not have been such a snot to my dad. On the karma front, however, my son is paying me back.

i agree with all of yours...plus here's my $.02 1. When you say "get your binge food away from you", to me that means give it away or throw it away. It hurts me to my core to "waste" any food. So, when I throw away something that I would love to eat, it really means something to me. It's a big commitment. 2. Make the…

Honestly, this is something I think you need to ask your doc about. Maybe she is looking for you to radically restrict calories...maybe not. Could you call her office to get clarification?

Hmm....the zephyr website does say that it does... http://www.zephyr-technology.com/store/9600.0112.html but, the datasheet on that page doesn't indicate it.....I need to research some more.

Great timing. Not 5 minutes ago, I clicked "confirm" on amazon for my Zephyr HxM HRM (heart rate monitor). Should have it in about a week. I got this one because it connects into my android phone and with the GPS software I use to track my bike rides.

Agree with HMalin. In the immortal words of an immortal puppet turned CGA: "Do or do not. There is no try"

I have GOT to try this. I made sort of a random eggplant parm a couple of weeks ago (roasted eggplant and red peppers, then baked with tomato sauce a little low-fat mozz and parm). It was pretty good. This sounds better and easier.

Wow, I feel old. I haven't had that problem to deal with in 20 years. :drinker:

I don't know if this will work for you, but I've taken to viewing my weekends as my big exercise-calories days. I make sure to set aside at least an hour each day on Sat and Sun for some serious calorie burning exercise. This has two effects...first, it gives me extra calories to eat on those days. I usually have trouble…

Would you ask the question, "Is it OK to eat absolutely nothing?" What you're asking is the same...but worse.

One recommendation...you use the word "dieting" twice in your post. My suggestion is, don't think of it as a diet. Think of it as changing your habits for a lifetime of health. Diets have start and end dates and involve short-term sacrifice to meet a short-term goal. Life changes are forever and involve making better…

I'm not in Florida, so I won't be any help on that front, but I need to interject.... Make sure your goal is reasonable and achievable. 1/1/12 is just 13 weeks away. So, your goal is nearly four pounds per week. Most advice is to limit yourself to a pound a week...two at the absolute maximum. so, you're setting yourself up…
