  • Smaller portions--serving sizes and lots of reading. I'm a member of the clean plate club generation so if I leave food I think of the starving children all over the world -- just what I was taught as a child. Saying that, I've found that increasing lower calorie foods and eating more of those, eating half portions of…
  • I lost a lot of weight and MyFitnessPal was just the tool for me. I was just reading all of your comments on the feed, and I have to tell you guys...Congratulations for making this first step. I am religious in exercise, logging, and trying new things---three things I never was before. Here's one tip that I have…
  • I lost 113 pounds setting calorie goal at 1200. I had to learn that just because it was 12 noon, I didn't have to eat if I wasn't hungry. Now I workout 800-1000 per day and firming up. I was never a size 4 even in high school. Make sure you are getting your water, and keep an eye on the protein. Once you get into the swing…
  • See my ticker for the pictures...and yes of course this is possible and it will be one of the top 10 highlights of your life! :)
  • Well, I'm 48, I've done it...I have 2 pounds to goal. It is an amazing feeling to have accomplished something that you've wanted your whole life and I wanted to be a size 8, you know single digits just one more time... To have gone from a size 24 to a 4 in 15 months and maintained that size and continued shrinking by…
  • I'll try anything once...and to start it off---Color Run HOUSTON!! :)
  • Hmmmm.... The sun on my face... Knowing I can sit on the floor and stand up without help... Taking the stairs so I don't have to wait for the elevator....and knowing I can. Clothes that fit... The ability to choose to wear heels and not feel as though my feet will pay for it by 2 pm. But the best thing that motivates me…
  • That would be a yes. I have trouble handing over money for clothes. All my life, I wanted to have my weight under control. Right before my 30th high school reunion, I met the goal of being in the normal BMI range...that would be the day before. So, I decided to buy some new jeans. I was wearing a size 12 with a belt which…
  • Make sure to take a look at the Income Statement (activity over time), Statement of Cash Flows(particularly from Operations) and the Statement of Stockholder's Equity (how do you feel) for the full "financial" picture. Also don't forget to read Management's discussion and analysis and footnotes! :) Sorry--Auditor…
  • Because I have done this so so many times, it was hard to get the kids and the husband on track. Particularly because I don't do the grocery shopping or the meal planning. So, I'm going to tell you how I did it. I hope it helps. You will always be able to control what you eat. That's not to say that well meaning others,…
  • In some article I read (in the 575 days I've logged straight), I read that it is a good idea to log in any exercise so that you can go back at some point and measure how far you have come. Go ahead and log those steps (2000 steps=1 mile). Challenge yourself to a step challenge in one day. Once you meet that "day", try…
  • bump...Cheesecake family here!
  • 11 months August 2011 to July 2012...it's these last 2 pounds that I'm just not feeling really. I started maintaining around November last year, ate Thanksgiving dinner okay, then went home for Christmas in "Cookie heaven" and gained 10 pounds. Lost that finally in February. I'm pretty happy now--from a size 24 to a 4/6--6…
  • I'm finally seeing some results from putting more intensity on the elliptical machine and walking 6 miles a day on the weekends. Sit-ups aren't working for me--more trouble on the back than the results. Try concentrating on moving the waist line and a rowing motion with one hand weight.
  • 1200 net calories a day for the past 550+ days...113 pounds of success! :)
  • I still have them...and they make me so sad, so I play up tempo songs and dance in the car on the way to work. It seems to make that awful feeling pass faster! Try it...people will look at you and you will start giggling, which makes you dance faster and faster, soon you are laughing and singing out loud and the "fat day"…
  • I think I look great in photos and in the mirror. It's when I'm getting dressed in the mornings I think I'm still a size 24 and no way I'm going to be fitting into the clothes I chose to wear. I've been told it's just one of those things. We think the way we think and that influences our interpretation. I'm sure if you ask…
  • Congratulations...you've made great first steps towards your goal! I should know...and you can do this! I know that too!
  • I've not lost a pound since November. Your body is restructuring. I"ll bet if you thought about it (my mother called these quiet moments) you can feel the difference because you are adding weight--muscle weight. Those scales will show a decrease again--just be patient and wait! I'm also betting you feel great, more energy…
  • Pick myself up, dust myself off, start all over again!
  • So if my TDEE is 1563 and I subtract 20%, that only ups my calorie intake 50 calories. When you up the calories and log in exercise, are you eating back the exercise calories or not entering them at all?
  • You don't need to change your goals just for Christmas. Decide to live with your current goal or decide to take a break. Whatever you decide to do, track it! You can do this! :)
  • I am 5'5" weigh 132 and I'm down to a size 4.
  • I can't wait to get to my goal weight (130) and THEN with weight fluctuations, see the scales read in the 120's just once!
  • I love love fage with honey, and yoplait greek is very treat-y too!
  • Nothing to be depressed about---starting weight of 245 here. I still have my very last suit hanging in the closet--size 24. I still have several blazers in a size 16 and 14. These clothes hang in the closet right next to the clothes I wear today--small shirts, size 6 dress pants, blazers and skirts, size 4 jeans. I'm…
  • It doesn't matter...it is so so good! :)
  • I'm thinner on the bottom than on the top so buying suits is getting pretty ugh right now. But I've been through several balancing issues over the past year, and I know this will pass just like the rest of them. Keep up the good work!! :)
  • We have 2 three way bulbs in the house. Seasonal light deprivation so I usually sit under a light on dark dreary days. I'm very lucky to have an office at work that gets afternoon sunshine, which is my trouble-time of the day. Songs help--fast paced and usually have good things going on (I'm walking on Sunshine is my…
  • YES...it is realistic. Very doable...and you can even have a cookie at Christmas and pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving! :)
