  • I have a Polar FT7 and when it works, I like it. Be aware though, they consider the chest strap is as a disposable item and is designed to last only 1-2 years and you need to keep buying a new one.
  • I have an iFitness (now called Fitletic) that I love. I use my belt all the time for training runs and races. Sparkleskirts are awesome too. I love the pockets in the shorts.
  • Usually the course time limit starts after the last runner crosses the start line. I do run/walk intervals too and find that the lower my intervals are, the faster I run. I have changed from 3:1 intervals to 1:1 for races and it is so much easier to maintain your pace. Give it a try and you will be amazed. Jeff Galloway…
  • I wear Sparkleskirts or Sweetspot skirts. Mine don't have anything underneath so I can change bottoms as the weather changes.
  • P90X is a 90 day program that is 6 days a week with 1 rest day a week!
  • Rest days are just as important as workout days. Every time you workout, you create tiny tears in your muscles and they need time to repair. Resting allows the body time to heal itself and build stronger muscles in its place.
  • Don't change anything from your normal running routine (new clothes, shoes, eats/drinks). 13.1 miles is a long way to go having tummy or chafing issues. Don't eat anything new the night before either. Don't start off too fast. It is easy to get pulled by runners early on. You want to save some gas in the tank for the end.…
  • Building muscle will burn fat. I would do a combination of both. You can find programs that combine both strength and cardio so you are not doing two separate things.
  • I tried the C25k program as well but I never finished. I run slow and was never able to build up to a 30 min 5k. A little over a year ago, I took a running class (well still do) and learned about the Galloway method and have used it ever since. He does run/walk intervals for the entire time you are running. The amount you…
  • I third the Garmin 305. It is bulky but super easy to use and does the job.
  • I did my first full in December and 22 miles was the highest we went.
  • I just ran RnR Arizona. Awesome race if you ever get a chance to do it. The course takes you through Tempe, Scottsdale, and Phoenix. I am signed up for RnR Dallas in March. I am also considering doing RnR Portland and Seattle but not sure if it is feasible.
  • February 10 Hot Chocolate Dallas 15k February 19 Rhythm and Blues Half Marathon in Houston March 25 Rock n Roll Dallas Half Marathon April 15 Austin 10/20 (10 miles and 20 bands)
  • Hi my name is Elizabeth. I started running in August 2010 at the age of 36. I use the Jeff Galloway run/walk method and it has helped me go from couch to a full marathon in a little over a year. I started out doing a 5k and then a friend talked me into training for a half marathon and I have been hooked ever since. I love…
  • I am from the Dallas area.
  • I have done Insanity halfway and ended up injured (plantar fasciitis). They are two completely different programs and it depends on what you are looking for. I was thrilled with the results I got from Insanity and I was really bummed I couldn't continue. Insanity is really a high intensity cardio based program. P90X has a…
  • I started running a little over a year ago at almost 250lbs. I tried the couch to 5k program and did not really care for it. I became frustrated with the fact that I could not run a 5k in 30 minutes. I joined a running class which uses the Galloway method. It is also a run/walk program but you run/walk your entire…
  • I was a 40/42 D and wore the Moving Comfort Maia. I love that bra. I have since went down a cup size so bought the same bra in the new size.
