Watching my fathers legs get used less and less and the muscle apathy that is forming there and watching him try to walk, thinking I can't let myself get to that point, because it makes others suffer not just me.

monitoring my sodium has made a big difference. Too stay below 2300 mg of sodium, you have to eat healthier and really watch the processed junk. Mine was by choice but for my mother it was not, due to a heart condition. Together we are both losing and eating better, most of the time....:)

I am curious and confused on this as well. I still have a lot of fat to burn off. If I am in a deficit won't it burn the fat? I am usually above my maintain but below my workout calories gained, in short I don't eat them all back would this cause me to not gain muscle? Also, what is the difference between building bulk and…

I do 3 sets of 6 to 8 reps heavy weight, and I work from large to small, I just did not list them in order, just as I remembered them. Sometimes it sucks getting old... LOL

Thank you for the information. I am working on bulking up at this time. I will stop doing the stretches inbetween, did not realize that was a bad thing. I do a full body routine. I have been doing the warm up that I used in 30 day shred week 1. Which consisted of arm crosses, arm circles, jumping jacks, core rotation and…

I have been doing this for a few months since my mom was diagnosed with a irregular heart beat. I decided to go on it with her since I was eating way too much salt myself. I have learned a lot and found a lot of good recipes online. Here is one site with a lot of recipes: http://www.lowsodiumcooking.com/free/index.htm I…

Hi there... I started off with 3 and worked up to 5 and now I am using 8lbs. You can work your way up as you go. Hope this helps.

I thought I would chime in on this conversation as well. There are other factors I have found that cause a lower weight loss or fluctuation in weight loss. One your salt in take. I was not monitoring it when I started and was sometimes eating 3000 - 4000 a day and found I was retaining water and having other issues with…

I would say get some dumbbells and a copy of 30 day shred and go for it. It makes for a great work out, as it gets easier increase the weight of the dumbbells you are using. You can also find cheap home gyms and treadmills on craigslist. Hope this helps.

You may want to do additional stretching after you are done with your 30ds. I do calf stretches, side stretches and longer leg stretches. I suggest especially to do the calf stretches as that sounds like the area the has been stressed. Hope this helps.

I too have bad knees. I started off with Leslie Sanson walking videos, they are a lot lighter on the knees and still give a good burn, she has a new one called pump or something like that which uses weights while doing the walking. I did this for a while and built my knees up. I also did leg lifts on a weight bench to…

Wow, that hits home, as I am a loner, sitting at home got over 300 lbs and did not care. I hated going out and was not friendly with anyone because I did not want to get hurt or rejected because I had no self esteem and it was easier to eat and hide then to risk. I finally lost my job, lost my security of a good income and…

For the same amount of money you can buy a pair of dumbbells and get a much better work out for your arms, shoulders, back and chest then you would with the shake weight.

It is a tough work out, you may want to take it slow. I know the first day I did it I really pushed and my legs where killing me for almost a week before I was able to do it again. It went much better the second time I did it. Just take it slow and if you feel uncomfortable or sore rest and then start back in to it. You…

What I did was the Leslie Sanson walk at home videos until I started to get into better shape and was not getting a good burn with them any more. I then started to incorporate other exercise videos in to my routine. I tried Tae Bo and found it to be really hard but combine that with Leslie gave me a good set of work outs…

I wear a heart monitor, so what I did was create my own exercise and called it 30 day shred and recorded my first day results. Other have used cross training.

You will want to add that as it does not seem like a lot but adds up. I was surprised at how much salt is in the food I eat and found most food does not need salt added. I will add pepper some times if it need something.

You can open beer with them too.... OMG There better then a swiss army knife and more fun too....

I started off with Leslie Sanson walking dvds. They are easy on the joints and have 4 basic moves so they are really easy to pick up on and do.

I always use a HRM when I do my exercise, that way I am getting the correct burn and times with my work out. I use the Polar FT-7 with chest strap. Feel free to add me as a friend, if you want or have any other questions just write me

I have been using her videos a lot because I too have knee problems. I have been alternating a walking only one such as the 5 mile fat burning walk or walk away the pounds walk and kick with the newer walk at home burn the body fat which uses hand weights. I use 5lb and 8 lb dumbbells with this workout and then go and do…
