  • Heya! Nice to see another partner on here! :) Yes it's quite difficult to look in the pastry case, however here in California we have a law that requires calories be posted for each item, somewhere within view! After work I look in at the pastries, but then I look at the tag, and there, right next to my absolute FAVORITE…
  • A lot of places in OC make it difficult for a newbie to ride due to the hills... obnoxiously annoying and painful hills, at least where I am.
  • Don't forget to sprinkle a little bit of the pumpkin spice on top, like it says! :) It's the topping that makes the drink. :) ~Your friendly neighborhood barista ^_^
  • From what I have read in the past: About three days to a week of continual severe calorie deficiencies will trigger a famine response (or starvation mode) in your body. You should know if are about to enter starvation mode when you cease being hungry at all, because that is your body recognizing that there is no food to be…
  • My scars get itchy sometimes when they get dry. I don't have c-section scars, but perhaps lotion of vitamin E oils applied directly to it beforehand will help.
  • Eat a good breakfast every day. when you sleep, you are essentially fasting. Breaking your fast first thing in the morning will allow your body to go back to a normal mode. also, if you have been eating like this for a long time, then it's also likely your metabolism is drastically slowed. eating breakfast and regular…
  • Whatever you do... don't get the dried/powdered stuff... ...It tastes like over-processed skim milk with coconut flavoring and a not so subtle hint of pennies.
  • I was feeling this way too, then I upped my protein intake and feel just as stuffed as if I ate thanksgiving dinner! Try having a tuna salad sandwich on whole wheat bread with low-fat mayonnaise for lunch, that one held me over till dinner time and I almost forgot to eat dinner yesterday! :D Protein is good for you and is…
  • OH! and if you REALLY must have chocolate... As some of us do... You can get the Atkins peanut butter cups and they are excellent! I don't support the diet itself, but a few of the snacks are pretty darned good. Also Hershey's has a sugar free chocolate that is decadent! you wouldn't even know it was sugar free! Just…
  • I generally keep those bags of baby carrots around. it's amazing how few carrots you can eat before getting full... PLUS they have a nice sweet taste, and I always want something sweet around that time.
  • I prefer to sleep in silence... but I can usually sleep with white noise as well. My husband, however. HAS to have a big-ol fan going all the time. He also prefers it to be arctic in the room when he sleeps, which to a born-and-raised California girl, is torture! The door has to be open... otherwise our cat will literally…
  • Indeed. Pretty sure if I went from 1200 a day to 2000 for a week i'd get violently ill in no time. Also, that 1200 is a generic number. The true number for any given person is dependent on your sex (as was stated) and current weight, height, age and activity level.
  • Thanks for the correction. the metric system always does confuse us Americans. :D It shouldn't... but it does ^_^ not to mention the book I read the information from, a long time ago, was probably a bit higher on the science ladder than I should have been reading :D
  • OH! You are my twin! (Almost!) GW 145 CW 188 Age 34
  • I am pretty close to you ^_^
  • Hi Jeff! I am so impressed with your honesty, not only with us, but with yourself! Because of that I will save you from my typical psychological banter about loving yourself for who you are, just this once. :) Coming on this site is a step in the right direction. I am going to present you with a challenge. Something else…
  • Oh My... Prime Rib for sure! The perfect sides for my Prime Rib? Steamed Yellow Wax Beans Sliced Tomatoes with salt/pepper That would be what I would get as my last meal ^_^
  • Burning calories is actually quite confusing because technically you do not "Burn Calories." In Basic (as I understand it, I am not a nutritionist or MD): A calorie is a unit of measurement. Your body will produce calories throughout the day. The calories that a piece of food "has" is actually how many calories your body…
  • 1200-1300 seems a bit low, especially when exercising... I am not sure of your height or daily activity level, but with me, anything under 1200, without exercise, is considered starvation... and starvation puts your body in a kind of fat storing hibernation mode. Just remember: Eating less is not always better... eating…
  • I added some more protein into my diet today, including adding protein powder into my soy milk before I steamed it for my coffee today, and it seems to have helped. I am pretty sure with the way I have been eating the past 15 or so years that even trying to get to 100g of protein a day would probably make me sick! :D I set…
  • Okay, I did it! :) 30 minutes on the gazelle, and I feel accomplished for getting up off my butt... :D Now to do it again tomorrow. any start is a good start, one must learn to walk before they fly ^_^ btw... how do you guys enter your gazelle workout? I am not sure how. :)
  • Okay, I am gonna do it! Star Trek and Gazelle, HERE I COME! ^_^ Thanks!
  • As my father-in-law once said, "there is no need to spank him, he'll eventually spank himself." so... get to it...
  • BMI Charts are based on "Average Body Types" I personally can not go to the low end of the BMI due to my ... (ahem) chest size. :ohwell: You have to take into account bone structure, muscle mass and age... which these charts never do! Remember, at 17, you weren't even done growing yet! In the end, you basically want to get…
  • Here is a recipe for one of my favorites! Persian Salad Dressing 1 Tblsp. Olive Oil 3 Tblsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. sugar 1 clove garlic crushed (pressed) Whisk these ingredients all together and pour on salad greens or a nice cucumber, tomato and onion salad! I cut the olive oil down from 1/3…
  • Those are some sexy boots... On to the main point... sorry! :D Girl, you can DO IT! I agree with the sleep thing! get your sleep in order as soon as possible! melatonin is natural AND will help you sleep. Sleeping pills can be bad, and addictive, but melatonin is what our bodies produce when we need to go to sleep, it's a…
  • Make sure to eat a healthy breakfast! Also, if you start feeling run down, get up and move around a little. Take a break and go outside. Getting a bit more blood pumping can always help you stay more awake and alert! Good luck! ~Your friendly neighborhood barista!
  • Motivation is your best friend! Remember why it is that you wanted to lose weight! We all hit snags every once in a while, vacations tend to set us back a bit, but once you start tracking and getting back into the swing of things as before you will be fine! ...AND you will have the knowledge that a couple of steps back…
  • You just quit smoking, honey!!! Don't be down on yourself. Every time you think about your weight, just remind yourself that quitting smoking is one of THE MOST DIFFICULT things to do!!! You DID IT! Watching what you eat is simple compared to quitting smoking. Those 20 pounds have got NOTHING on you and your willpower! You…
  • Just remember; Muscle weighs more than fat! If you had a waist measurement from before, you might want to check it out, it could very well be then you are still losing fat, however you are also gaining muscle to go along with it. If you did not have a waist measurement from before, take one now and check it out in a couple…
