  • I smoked cigarettes for 15 years (age 25 to age 40ish). It took me three good 8-12 week "I'm quitting" efforts, but eventually I pulled through. I used a nicotine nasal spray prescription that wasn't covered by my health insurance, but I figured it was still cheaper than a heart attack. I used the nasal spray to replace my…
  • Efficient (high nutrient, low calorie) potassium foods are: mushrooms, spinach, coconut water, protein shakes, tomatoes (fresh, sauce, paste), avocado, pomegranate. I have high BP so my goal is 3,500 mg of potassium a day-which is difficult to reach without protein shakes with about 600-700mg of potassium - these are the…
  • Have to provide some context for my idea of "what worked" for me... I'm female half-marathoner who runs 3x week, and cross/strength trains 2x week. I lost ~20 lbs. from my 5'8" frame, following the below. So, I was fairly active already, but eating too many carbs, and calories for my activity level (and let's face it, my…
  • My $0.02 is to eat a balanced diet, but use protein shakes as added protein - using a protein powder mixed with water or almond milk is a more "efficient" way to add protein. What I'm getting at is watch your calorie to protein ratio - don't eat too many calories chasing a protein macro number. Best of luck!
  • I'd try some leg strengthening exercises and yoga outside of T25. My guess is there's a lack of flexibility/strength in your legs, that's causing extra stress on your ankles/feet. Improve your balance and strengthen your legs and I bet all that stress won't hit your ankles/feet.
  • If I wake up hungry that's different from being awake and eating to pass the time. If I wake up hungry I have a few bites of something healthy - maybe 25% of what I had for dinner - maybe half a sandwich on wheat and a cup of water - maybe 5 spoonfuls of cottage cheese. I also know when that happens that I probably didn't…
  • My Fitbit has helped me a ton to not gain weight when training for an endurance race (I'm a half marathoner). I gained 7-10 lbs. training for a half marathon I did in May - didn't make any sense. I bought a Fitbit and using it and MFP together worked wonders for tracking my calories in and calories out. Unfortunately, only…
  • Someone who isn't attracted you just isn't attracted to you - that's ok. Are you attracted to every guy you meet? Also you miss that "we just noticed eachother" thing you get when you meet someone in person rather than online or on the phone for the first time. I'd encourage you to try to meet people doing the same things…
  • Make your own decision on the trainer, but I can't trust trainers who themselves aren't fit - if they aren't on the journey how do they know what I need to do? And to be clear, I see female trainers who are skinny with no muscle tone (tells me they do a lot of restricting calories without the workout part) and flabby male…
  • My advice is to talk with your doctor about it and see if s/he can help with a plan or recommend someone who can help you with a plan. Feels like you need to get to the root of why you're binge eating. Best of luck!
  • Forced gifts: new tires and a new seal for the car transmission. Fun gift: Stairmaster 4400PT (circa 1995) love it! I have no excuses not to get in some cardio when it's 20 degrees outside or the gym's hours don't work for me (big job, little city).
  • I've been running for 15+ years and I've never heard of this. Searched Runnersworld.com for both terms and got nothing. Not sure what the overheard conversation was really about.
  • Exercise related? About 16 years ago I was crossing the street on a run and since it was hot I was dripping with sweat and only wearing a sports bra and my shorts. These guys drove by and yelled "Yuck!" And sometimes when I wear headphones I turn them down low or don't have music on which gives me the liberty to ignore who…
  • My thoughts... Exercising: Agree with the gym with the pool or public pool, stationary bike, and talk with a physical trainer who can suggest some strength building exercises you can do. Resistance training is essential to losing and keeping off weight. Juicing/Diet: All calories are not created equal - i.e. one scoop…
  • Strength training doesn't have to mean using weights or going to the gym...although I prefer lifting at the gym.
  • Nope...it's a Thursday and Thursday's are a workout day...
