I'm so sorry to hear that. I found my Mum dead when I went to check on her in December, so I know how hard it is. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat. I found most people don't understand what it's like to lose a parent suddenly (as opposed to when you know they are ill, can say goodbyes, etc). I ate whatever people…

I have told many people that I think a whole foods diet even with animal products could help fibromyalgia. I certainly think it's worth a try, you've (generic you) nothing to lose in any case! I've never "touted as a cure" - only said, it worked for me, so it might be worth considering. I'm aware that cholesterol is…

I haven't read all 8 pages here but I eat a whole foods plant based diet. I say I'm vegan sometimes just because that's a more familiar term to a lot of people, but it's not for ethical reasons. Since going plant based my fibromyalgia has disappeared. I also have incredibly low cholesterol (so low the NHS flagged it up as…

Google has a built in converter, it's brilliant. I use both US and metric measurements. It's rare I can't find an entry that has the right units to be honest, but if I can't, I convert it. Try it out, just type in: convert 1 cup to ml Or something like that. You can use it for everything from measurements to currencies.

Glad you figured it out! I'm no expert but it just didn't sound like DOMS the way you described it. Having had kidney infections before the tenderness does take a while to go, so I'd imagine it's that still. Hope you feel 100% soon!

This thread is funny. I'm bi-dialect-al, having lived back and forth between the UK and US and being married to a Yank. ;)

I'd recommend getting Happy Herbivore's Light & Lean book. It's really interesting, has recipes as well as weight loss advice for a plant based diet.

I think it's a possibility that you actually have a UTI - abdominal pain, not peeing a lot despite drinking extra, chills... just keep an eye on it.

Assumably it's a supply and demand thing. They're pretty popular so not that cheap? Try TJ Maxx. I know they have them cheaper there in the UK, so may do Stateside (if that's where you are).

For me it started as a competitive thing - a friend and I were both losing weight, and I didn't want her to pass me up! It was a commitment initially of 1 class per week. I found I enjoyed group classes a lot and pushed myself a lot harder. A friend and I went together so I had to go! Within a couple of months she was…

Whole foods plant based most of the time here... :) I feel INCREDIBLE compared to a year or two ago! Good job.

WOW. That is incredible. You look fantastic, you've obviously been very dedicated. :)

Holy moly, you look like a totally different person! A much younger one too! Well done :)

Oops, just noticed this is an old thread!

Only 78lb down in these shots rather than 100+ but it may give you some idea. I look better than I thought I would. When I started out though I wasn't thinking about exercising or anything (last time I lost weight I didn't exercise). But now I'm really into fitness so I think that's helped. I'm sure I will have *some*…

I am still at the "high end" of overweight on the BMI scale, and this topic is one I ponder regularly. I genuinely feel like the same person I used to be, physically. I look down and still see flabby big thighs, a big wobbly stomach, jiggly arms, etc. I wish I had actually taken photos of me sitting down, from my…

Thank you again everyone... every time I come back here there are more responses. You guys ROCK. :)

Thank you so much again everyone. You're all so kind. :) Hopefully in another year I will have a 3rd shot to compare!

To answer a few of you: -both pictures is my natural hair, it just looks different because the sun is shining in the old pics. ;) -I do have a high waisted nice bikini I can…

You all are seriously feeding my ego here. :) I can't believe all the nice compliments. Thank you so much. Each and every one is really sweet.

You know I don't think I have ever been told that before, except probably by my husband? Thank you!

I was a bit like you when I started. I had been a member of MFP for a few years actually and done it off and on, for a day at a time usually, sometimes up to a week (wow!). January last year I got serious about it. Anyway what really kept me going was looking at the Success Stories forum, and trying to find threads by…
