  • Everyone is different, just because it works for some people does not mean its will work the same for all. I do not think you should eat back all or your exercise calories. I tried this for 4 months and lost 0 lbs, got discouraged and quit logging. I'm back and not eating my exercise calories back and finally seeing some…
  • Still logging every day, but need to be logging all of my food better. I stop logging if I go over or don't exercise for that day which is defeating the purpose. I really need to get back on track because I really want to stick with this for 100 days! I just need to see some results, any results would be motivating.
  • I'm here! There is usually not much going on here (this site). I was hoping for some advice and finding some common ground with other women in their 40's. I have never struggled with my weight until now and the hormone changes are horrible! I too am busy with work and kids (4 the youngest is 8) but I would really like to…
  • I have logged in everyday, exercised most days but Valentines day did me in. I will keep plugging along and stick with the 100 days! I am sure I will see results if I stick with it!
  • Hi Christine, my name is Melanie and I am in my mid 40's. I have 4 kids and one by emergency c-section as well. I know as women it gets harder as we age to maintain and lose weight. I love this site for the exact reasons you mentioned. I never relized what I ate in a day until I started logging it. I think MFP has also…
  • I would LOVE to lose 15-16 pounds by the 1st!
  • I do exercise most days twice. I think that exercise totals are just that, and it does not matter when or how many times a day you do it. JUST DO IT as they say!
  • Try Twinings Chi Pumpkin Spice, DELISH! They also make a really good Christmas Tea which I Have not seen out yet this year and a wonderful cinnamon.
  • I love it in the winter time and my favorite now it Twinings Chai Pumpkin Spice! Its amazing and with a little honey it really cures my sweet tooth while everyone else is eating dessert!
  • I completely understand! I've been on here for 3 months and only lost 4-5 pounds. I have been doing my elliptical and treadmil for on average 2 hours a day and burning about 900 calories a day. Most days I am under my calorie goal and eating healthy. I do notice my clothes fitting much loser though. I am still kinda…
  • I go to bed in my workout clothes so I drop my youngest son off at school and go straight to the garage where my elliptical and treadmil are. I do work nights so its a little easier for me. I never get eight hours but after exercising I feel like I did!
  • If you are exercising that much then you have to eat back more of those calories. Eat more and small frequent snacks throughout the day and try drinking more water so you won't retain as much.  Don't get discouraged, give it some time and you will succeed!
  • Hi Ladies! My name is Melanie and I have 4 kids 23 year old stepdaughter a 21 year old son a 17 year old son and an 8 year old son. I try to find time to exercise every day. I do work and love to be involved in my son's school as much as possible.I do have a husband( which is like my 5th child most of the time) and between…
  • Yours sounds interesting and good! Mine is Pizza!
  • Welcome! I have only been on this site for a couple of months and I absolutly love it! Just log in every day and track everything you eat and any exercise you can and I promise it will pay off!
  • I think MFP is awesome and I hope you love it as much as I do. I believe that if you log in every day it will keep you motivated and make you accountable for what you eat and when you exercise. Feel free to add me, and best of luck on your journey!
  • I never used to eat back the calories, but after reading up on it I decided to give it a try and I am finally losing weight and eating more than ever. So I am a believer!
  • I know that I can gain 5 pounds in a week when I am bloated before I start. I think most women have a problem with this monthly water weight gain. Try tracking it and not weighing yourself at that time if you think this could be the problem. Best of luck to you!
  • I know that I can gain 5-10 pounds in a week when I am bloated before I start. I think most women have a problem with this monthly water weight gain. Try tracking it and not weighing yourself at that time if you think this could be the problem. Best of luck to you!
  • Add me if you want. I will try to help to stay motivated!
  • Hey Sue! I believe I am in the same boat. I too have been fit my whole life and I am 46. The last couple of years my blood pressure has suddenly been a problem and the weight started creeping on. My Dr. put me on meds whick make me tired and he also says I am going through premenopause which he said my hormones were…
  • Congratulations on your wonderful news! I have 4 kids and exercised through all my pregnancies as normal. My Dr. told me it was ok and that my labor and delivery and bouncing back would be much easier by keeping active. I ran and walked alot and lifted weights. Make sure you get the advise from your Dr. because everyone is…
  • I used to live by this as well. But I have read and consulted my Dr.and she confirmed that this is NOT true. You Should eat before your morning exercise. But like with everything, one minute its good and the next minute its bad. If it works for you then stick with it but I found better results with eating first.
  • Hi Courtney! My husband is a big fitness buff and used to be a bodybuilder. At the ripe age of 45 he is still ripped. I can tell you though that there is no magic pill to lose weight and keep it off or there would be no MFP and everyone would be slim and in shape. I can also tell you that my husband has always been on…
  • I find that if I don't exercise in the AM I will find too meny excuses later in the day. I go to bed in my sports bra, running shorts and tank top so after I take my youngest son to school I head straight home to exercise before work. Sleeping in my workout clothes works for me!
  • If you havn't read "eating your exercise" which was posted by a mfp member then do so and it will help you realize that you need to eat enough calories or your doing more harm than good in the weight loss department. You can just google it and it will pull up.
  • We have a pug and I have to say she has been the BEST dog I have ever owned! We trained her to use a doggie litter box so when we are not home there is no accidents and because she is a pug they can't be outside and overheated ( I live in Florida). We have her on a wellness plan at Banfield which is in our local Petsmart…
  • Hi Jen! My name is Melanie and I live in Florida and I am just 20 days into this and love it so far. I'll motivate you if you"ll motivate me! So feel free to add me as a friend!
  • Hi Courtney, My name is Melanie and my goal is 20 lbs as well. I related to your story because my oldest son had a similar experiance and is now 2 years into the Navy Reserves. He will go active after 2 more years. He is 21. Add me as a friend if you want and keep me informed on your progress. I wish you the best of luck…
