  • Mace, yes! Confidence, definitely!! Rapists are less likely to target someone confident and ready to fight - mace will help with that!! Love the beans and gas suggestion :-D But seriously. If you see him again and he creeps you out again, take his photo with your phone. Get a good shot so management/police can see who he…
  • Haven't fixed on a final goal weight yet - keep changing my mind. Figure I'll know it when I get there. In meantime, I set small goals. (Current one: lose the 9kg I put on on a cruise!) I don't want to be skinny - I have a large frame, an hourglass figure and I have decent muscles and swimmers shoulders, so will probably…
  • Aquafitness/water aerobics - swimming - water jogging ...
  • .... as long as he doesn't speak!!
  • People who make snide comments are usually either jealous, or trying to build themselves up by putting someone else down - either way, they are the one with the problem!! As someone else suggested, if they are trying to get at you, the best reaction is to not be got. And double that by looking fabulous I know what it is…
  • I don't recommend my cure - I had spent hundreds of dollars on podiatrist-prescribed orthotics and appropriate shoes, had them for about a week and had a motorbike accident. Couldn't walk for some time - plenty of other pain and ongoing issues, but no more plantar fasciitis! Been ten years, now.
  • Me too ... about three years ago I was over 342lbs. I have lost ~ 158 (I understand kg - lbs mean nothing to me!) I have learnt: - I'm an all-or-nothing girl - I can't do moderation :ohwell: - different things work for different people - I have tried most things, but Atkins is what works for me - alcoholics can't handle…
  • I tried herbalife - pushy brother, in my case - I only lasted a couple of weeks as the supplements and stuff made me feel really sick ... I remember having to pull the car up and vomit on the side of the road. Hundreds of dollars for that!? Optifast is probably the best 'meal replacement' diet I have done ... but Atkins…
  • Congratulations, Yummy Mummy!!
  • One reason we fang out when depressed is that eating sweet things (chocolate especially!) produces 'feel good' endorphins, so we do feel better for a little bit. So we keep doing it. Then we feel bad! Good news is: exercise does this too! Even though you don't feel like it, if you can make yourself do something active, not…
  • You can lose weight by just dropping your intake, and this site is great for keeping tabs on that. But exercise really helps in lots of ways. It depends what type of disability you have as to what sort of exercise you can do. I use a walking stick after a motorbike accident, so walking/running is out for me - but just try…
  • If it is in the healthy bmi range, and you are not taller than then, sure, go for your high school weight. (Be aware, though, woman/mother hormones you have now may not want your body to be lower end bmi.) Good luck
  • Good call, Ke22y - and congrat.s on your 80kg!!
  • Sounds like you are doing a great job! Welcome, and keep up the good work. Good luck
  • (Thanks SlinkyPinky - you're no slouch yourself! :drinker: )
  • So King Ed currently holds the title. Champion indeed!
  • I have cheat days - I call it 'off the wagon" - for special occasions. I make the decision about when and how long for, and I enjoy it. But I know I will have to pay for it and undo the damage afterwards. The way I see it, two steps forward, one step back is still moving forward. Just depends how fast you want to get…
  • Yeah - I've lost about 150lbs of water! It's a wonder my skin held  I recommend you read Atkins' book. He invented low carb. Different things work for different people - I've tried most of them, and really low carb is the only thing that works for me. Good luck :flowerforyou:
  • Hi, and welcome! Sounds like you are doing well ... And sorry, but I don't get people who can't get their calories up - it's easy - eat something! Add some fruit to your shake in the morning, maybe? Good luck with your journey! :flowerforyou:
  • Looks sooooo yummy!
  • Bring it on - I'm not just gonna be off the wagon, I'm going to be off the chain!! I will enjoy every minute - will probably feel sick, as also not used to carbs anymore (so will try to remember that for next time every one else is having something I can't have) ... and no, can't do moderation, just can't!…
  • This is the first time in ten years that I have had 'normal' coloured hair. My 30th wedding anniversary is next month - he's great, and he loves me! :smooched: I miss bread and chocolate, but I'm looking damn fine  I've learnt not to open the second bottle of Baileys  and sometimes I get carried away…
  • 1. << not dead ... very healthy! 2. Fruit is not healthy?! .... "no pudge brownie mix" is?! 3. << 71kg lost ... that's 156+ pounds ... What works for me may not work for you - it has taken me years to get it right for me, and I'm sharing what works for me ... and "healthier sweets" certainly don't work for me. Good luck…
  • When I'm having trouble getting back on track, I will sometimes do a fruit fast - eat nothing but fruit for a couple of days - it puts a "full stop" to the rubbish eating, and after a couple of days of fruit only, veggies and protein are looking pretty darn good! I also find if I pick a particular day (Monday is a good…
  • You don't sound very overweight (but I've been huuuge and I work in kg, so what would I know ... ) but even if you are, you are not defined by a number on the scale. You are not your weight. Like others have said, there is more to talk about than your weight. It seems like you may have self-esteem and anxiety issues - is…
  • Do something active - run up and down a couple of flights of stairs or take a couple of brisk laps of your building or block. This helps vent frustration, uses up some of the adrenaline that we release when stressed, and gives you some space to calm down and get stuff into perspective. Good luck :-)
  • Hi Ryan, your wife is right (always remember that! ) I find this site great - only discovered it later in my journey but it has been eye-opening. Good luck!
  • Water walking is exercise if you do it right - you need to do at least 5 minutes warm-up, then a minimum of 20 minutes fast enough to make you puff, then at least 5minutes cool down. But it is the breath control of swimming that makes it good for asthma - have you thought about swimming lessons? Never too late - I have…
  • Asthmatic all my life, been hospitalised quite a few times in the past - swimming is good, helps gain control of your breathing and strengthen lungs. But symbicort has changed my life!! I rarely use my ventolin puffer these days. And I do whatever exercise I want. If I run out of symbicort, I can't believe that I used to…
