I eat a 700 calorie breakfast because I run in the morning before I eat. 30g rolled oats (whizzed up in a food processor to make cooking quicker) 25g wheat germ 25g wheat bran 30g peanut butter 1/2 tsp cinnamon 100ml semi skim milk 1 small apple, diced I microwave the rolled oats with the milk, then stir in the peanut…

Have you ever read any Geneen Roth books? I love her book When Food is Love...whenever I've had a bad day and turned to food I like to just pick a chapter to read. I hope you can find it somewhere, or one of her books.

My kids love to eat and want to do it all the time because they're bored, because we don't do a lot of screen (tv/computer/playstation etc.) time. They are 6 and 3 and I serve up what I consider to be a balanced diet every day, in the form of 5 small meals. Outside of that there is nothing to eat, the answer is always no.…

My first at 25 and my second at 28. It has been hard and lonely sometimes, but it also made me grow up and realise there was a lot more to life than what I had become focused on before becoming a Mum. And it gives me so many reasons to get up and be thankful every day. Still, my husband and I often think wistfully of rainy…

Is an elliptical like a cross trainer? I really like the cross trainer and the treadmill...trying to build up the motivation to try the rowing machines but I don't like the idea of me sitting on those tiny seats lol.

That's a good idea...maybe a bit of fresh fruit with lite whipped cream or something... I save calories for night times, too! So encouraged that it hasn't been a problem for you...I can't imagine giving up night snacking altogether...it's the only time of day I can eat uninterrupted and really enjoy something...
-
Yeah that's a great idea...I do have a few hobbies..thank you. Thanks for what you said about struggling with eating a lot in one go...I always feel so awkward admitting things like that so it's a big relief when I find I'm not all alone... ETA: thank you for those ideas...I keep telling myself to go to bed because I need…

Doesn't everything have an effect on insulin response? And when is fructose ever consumed by itself...seems misleading to measure the insulin response to "fructose" when what you're really wanting is the insulin response to an apple.
-
I don't drink pop...I have a terrible sweet tooth though. I think if I was just eating fructose then I wouldn't have a problem with the sugar column...but if I'm eating a slice of watermelon that just has fructose in it...I mean yeah the fructose might bypass the "I feel full" mechanism, but the fibre and the water…
-
Yes, this was my understanding...that eating fruit including the fibre doesn't cause that much of a spike.
-
I don't understand what the issue is, with sugar. If it's just blood sugar levels then if the fruit is low GI I don't get where the problem is...I feel stupid saying that but I really don't understand. :(
-
I know!! This is what is happening to me...
-
Yeah, this was my understanding...it makes me wonder if MFP should change the sugar column somehow.
-
I checked the GI rating of the fruit I've been eating...watermelon, grapes and bananas...and they're low GI apart from the watermelon but the site said that watermelon doesn't have a lot of carbs anyway so its high GI rating wasn't a problem. I was under the impression that your body processes sugar differently depending…

Thanks for that! Makes me feel better about my fruit eating habits.

Wow, so many people...getting the warm fuzzies.
-
Thank you for the welcome Candy :D It already seems that the people here are nice...this warm welcome has already stopped me from reaching for another cookie. I might go get another can of diet coke instead so I can't have asked for any more than that...I actually almost feel like crying. So nice to be around people who…

So glad to meet you all...thank you for all the well wishes! :)
