  • I've just taken a second job - that will definitely help me stay off it at the weekends!! I work 9-5 in an office but have taken on some bar work for Saturdays and Sundays every couple of weeks. Generally I keep the drinking to just Saturday night. I like to be fresh on Saturday morning so I can go for a run. Hangover…
  • Hmmmm have just looked up burpees, they might be more practical given the typical size of a hotel room, a jump rope would be catching on things....thanks!
  • linzismith I really like the jump rope idea, mixing cardio with strength. I could do 20 mins day - achievable even with a mild hangover I'd say!! Yes I am sure I'll be doing a lot of walking but walking alone doesn't cut it for me - I do not want to start getting pudgy and I know I am going to be eating and drinking…
  • I think you ladies are missing the point. If you go from having a high calorie diet to a really low calorie diet really quickly, your body will try to hang on to fat because it thinks its being starved. I know some really slim people who definitely survive on about 800 - 1000 calories a day and always have done, so the…
  • Boil the egg instead of frying it. Get bacon with very little fat and grill it - can you get the irish/ british type bacon rashers where you are? Because there is very little fat on them. Galtee or Denny. I remember from when I lived in the states all you could get was the streaky bacon and that is loaded with fat. I…
  • I drink every weekend, and stick to my calories apart from the alcohol. Its usually just one night where I have a lot of alcohol calories. Its just meant that I am not losing at all - I've toned up etc due to exercise, but my goal is 7Ibs lower than what I am , and I know if I keep the drinking up I am not going to reach…

  • Hi there I am on 1200 also. I find it hard to keep it to that, so I avoid fried stuff and I should be ok. Also doing some exercise in the evening resolves that problem. I normally have some granola for breakfast, an egg and soda bread for mid morning, a balanced meal at lunch time and then something light like a fresh soup…
  • Dublin, Ireland. Not many of us on here.
  • The only annoying thing is that once you get used of it, and you have a day out of your routine where you don't get as much water, you will be soooo thirsty!!:drinker:
  • Hi Hanna I can totally understand where you are coming from, I often react like this myself. However the one thing that strikes me about your post, is that yourare getting angry at your actions as if it was someone else that was actually doing it and eating those things. You have to take responsiblity for what you do and…
  • Raw carrot sticks or celery sticks with low fat dips - dipped in homemade houmus, divine! Very easy to make with canned chickpeas - make a bowl and use it throughout the week. Or you can also dip them in salsa, simple to make or buy, or low fat natural yoghurt. Get a clove of garlic, some peeled cucumber , mint leaves and…
  • Tonight: Grilled chicken breast with mustard and lettuce and red onion, in a wholegrain bap, with roasted parsnip wedges on the side.
  • This question has just occurred to me too! Would love an answer. I've seen on some websites that women should eat 100g of protein a day and men 150g.

  • I just recently purchased one but haven't used it yet. I am thinking that it is exercise that should accompany cardio, and I right? Can someone point me towards some good resources on the web on how to use the ball?
  • I suppose really what is key here and what we all know on this site at this stage is that there are no short cuts - you want to lose weight, you eat healthily and exercise. I ditched the chicken legs last night Dave you'll be glad to hear! I was looking for a short cut - sticking to eating what I knew to be bad but looking…
  • Guys thanks a lot for all the replies. The Japanese one sounds divine! And does look too bad except for the sugar. Yes I know they are not the healthiest part of the chicken in terms of calories but everything in moderation as they say.
  • I second Annathelu. He is not going to be any less helpful to you because you've gained weight - try to put yourself in his shoes and think about what he'll actually be thinking - he might think 'she's put on a little weight but she is still the same person underneath'. He is not going to think ' she's put on weight…
  • I am looking for something to do with chicken drumsticks that will be relatively low in calories. I am thinking of taking the skin off and roasting them with some spices....any ideas or recipes anyone?
  • Thank you - so oatmeal and wholegrain toast for breakfast so tomorrow!
  • Hi all Has anyone any advice on what foods I should get my carbs from? Today I've had fruit, wholemeal bread and an egg for breakfast, a homemade bean and vegetable stew plus banana for lunch, and am planning on having some lamb, mashed turnip and steamed brocolli for dinner. I have a carbohydrate deficiency for the daily…
  • Thanks for that - very helpful.
  • I had a portion of lasagne and lettuce, tomatoe, cucumber, grated carrot and balsamic vinegar. Delicious
  • Sweet potatoe, cut into small chunks Vegetable stock - 1 pint Teaspoon Tumeric Tablespoon chilli powder Tablespoon olive oil 250 mls low fat natural yoghurt Handful fresh coriander. Put the oil in a deep pan or wok. Add onions and fry for 2/3 minutes until softening. Add garlic, ginger, chilli and tumeric. Cook for 2/3…
  • They advertise them here in Ireland as a low fat option. Liars :)

  • Hi all I thought Bagels were supposed to be low fat and hence low calories, but it is coming up at 228 calories. That's a surprise! Thought I was going for the diet savvy option :noway:

  • Excellent thank you!! That is really good news.:flowerforyou:
  • Hi all I walk very briskly for 10 minutes at least 4 times a day, going to my bus stop, then to the office and vice versa. Is there any point in recording this exercise as it is for such short periods? It really helps with the calories so it woud be great if it counted towards my exercise goals.
  • Thanks for tha. I am in Ireland so not many of the brands are familiar to me in terms of restaurants.
  • Thanks for your help April Ann!
  • Can anyone advise on the calories in eating out at an Italian? I had a smallish serving of fettucine in a tomatoe sauce with prawns, cherry tomatoes and spinach. It was delicious, and the sauce tasted very light. The only equivalent I can find on the database is a ready meal type one, and as I am new to this any help would…
