  • Thanks! I kind of did my weightloss in 3 concerted bursts. So all up it took me a year but I possibly could have done it faster if I were consistent. The first 5 kg was really quick to come off - took about two months. After that I went to something called Outward Bound - basically 3 weeks of outdoor living and adventuring…
  • Thanks guys. Am finally starting to feel good about myself again!
  • Thanks everyone for the thoughtful, helpful replies. I think I will slowly increase and also keep an eye on my Fitbit for some additional guidance. Unfortunately I am at goal, but not entirely happy yet with how the body looks, so now I need to focus on toning and strength. But my plan is to continue logging and eating…
  • Wow, 5lbs is a huge amount for me. I dunno if I could go that much under my goal (given I am now sitting just on 54kg). Maybe I will aim for half of that and then try to slip into maintenance. I am a bit scared tbh!
  • Thanks guys for all the replies. Increasing intake slowly is a good idea. Given I have lost the 10kg (22lbs) over about 16 months I guess I should expect some time getting it right. I also have a Fitbit and am wondering if anyone knows how reliable the calorie count on that is? I haven't linked it to MFP as when I did I…
  • Well, I have a doctor appointment tomorrow. Am sure I am all fine but good to check. I did a 10km run (would have gone longer but it was 10:30pm by the time I was done) and slowed right down to just over 7 mins per km. I kept my heart rate under 175 the whole time. This is still a little high I think, but I felt good and…
  • Yeah, I guess I am just running, and flailing, like you say. I'm not trying to make excuses, but a training programme is difficult for me - I have 2 very small children, work full time (starting at 6:45am) and am involved in a few charities.... so finding dedicated time is tricky. I try to fit in a run whenever I can -…
  • I don't think I have a cardiac problem.... I seriously hope not! But will have a quick check up at my doctors. I have not seen him for a while anyway. I do think my HR is generally high when I exercise, it always has been, but it just felt a bit extreme on my last run. I also think maybe I should just slow down a little…
  • Thanks for all the replies. I will go and see my doctor. My gut tells me all is ok with my health but it doesn't hurt to get it checked. In the meantime I think maybe I try to slow down a little and see if that helps. I really need to focus on distance but I have been focusing on speed and distance.... I really wanted to…
  • Sorry - I feel like I am jogging at 7 min/km. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I certainly don't feel faint or like I am going to be sick, but sure as heck feel completely wiped out. My heart rate drops back very, very quickly when I stop and I feel very healthy. Back in my pre-exercising days I used to take ages to recover.…
  • Someone who has put in the hard yards!
  • I totally, totally agree with this. I do not understand really restrictive diets where any treats are out of the question for the rest of eternity. I have days where my MFP daily result looks absolutely diabolical. In fact the last three days have been like this (anniversary dinner, meal out and a giant family picnic…
  • Trouble is - there are SO many things you can lift up and put down. How do you know which ones you should be? If I were to lift up and put everything down at my gym, I'd be there all day. :)
  • My goal is based on sedentry, which I probably am when working. And that is a very good point. :) Originally I got FitBit to challenge a friend to just increase our movement during the day, so more for the steps and reporting, and didn't even know it integrated with MFP. Thought I guess this would explain why I lost weight…
  • Thanks. That makes perfect sense. What I am concerned about is that FitBit seems to give me a LOT of extra calories (yesterday is was 400) and it doesn't seem like if I eat 400 cal more I will be losing weight. In fact, that would probably mean I was eating more than I was before I started this journey. Has anyone else…
  • Just.... wow. Hope I look like you one day!
  • You look fab! Just goes to show, it's never too late to turn things around and be who you want to be. Congrats!
  • Thanks guys. I am so mad at myself for letting this happen. I always swore that it wouldn't! Probably a lesson to be learnt from that.
  • Bumping for Dal!! xx
  • Thanks guys... Half way there and then have to work out how to pull my muscles in!
  • Totally agreed! I have 1200 cals + 200 for breastfeeding and could happily eat 50% more again. In fact, I exercise just so I can eat more! Getting fit is just a bonus side-effect. :-)
  • Ok. I will measure waist and tummy. Upper arm is a good one too. I am not measuring my bust as I am breastfeeding and that can change hugely at the moment. I forgot to add, that I am eating my minimum calories and I eat back the vast majority of my exercise calories too. So I think I am being sensible. Just so disappointed…
  • If you search Breastfeeding under foods (as if you were adding a food to your diary) you will find a variety of options for how much baby feeds. You then add the 'food' and it deducts some calories for you. You have to add it every day. Feel free to add me as a friend to see what I mean. Every day I have added breast…
  • I gained my weight by constantly eating more than my body needed. These days when I finish a small meal I still feel hungry and think "I could eat that all over again!" But if I wait for half an hour it hits my tummy and I feel satisfied. The trick is to keep yourself busy during that period after eating where you crave…
  • I go for that wrap when I *have* to go to McDonalds. I have heard it is one of the best options too.
  • I am from New Zealand and think my country is one of the most beautiful in the world! Feel free to add me. :)
