My boyfriend has been sober over 3 years. I don't drink nearly as much... this month I've cut it out entirely and lately have been considering sobriety as well. My father is an alcoholic, and I tend toward addiction as is.

Awesome, that's what I thought! My anatomy professor told me that there's still some research being done regarding possible effects on metabolism, but from looking chemically at what's occurring in the brain with the drug's mechanisms, I don't see the connection.

Beer and shots. In all seriousness, I jumped from 110 to 145 over the course of 3 years. I still drink every once and a while, but the college drunk munchies definitely helped me pack on the pounds.

Try flavored Stolis on the rocks or with soda water. I also like sipping on a glass or two of wine when I'm craving something sweeter. Above all, stay away from sour mix.

They have one idea that I really love - "mini indulgences." Basically, they make their desserts in shot glasses, so they're SUPER portion controlled, but you get a couple of bites. I've actually seen this pop up in a few other restaurants near me - hopefully it's catching on!

There's a place called Seasons 52 near me. The whole restaurant is seasonal and all items are less than 500 calories - all listed on the website, of course. Oh... I just ate a 600 calorie breakfast. Not "bad" necessarily... it's fuel for my workout and I'm on vacation... but I still could've had more self control Oat bran + almond butter, mini corn muffin, piece of multigrain bread, 1/4 c Greek yogurt. Could've done without the corn muffin
