  • Thanks for all of the help everyone. The hospital ran all kinds of test but they weren't "conclusive" because they wanted to do a stress test. My husband refused to stay overnight for it because we have no insurance. Money is going to be the biggest concern with doctors but I am going to call tomorrow to the local health…
  • We actually monitored his BP all day yesterday after he told me his vision was blurry. That was why I started getting worried in the first place. He had a work injury in November and the doctor (months after injury) brought up his BP being high so I've been trying to keep it in mind. Our cuff is a wrist cuff and i make him…
  • Wow, that is pretty scary. I am not going to let him try to get out of taking care of it, that's for sure.
  • I definitely understand that if it's bad enough it has to be treated with medication. I am making him go to our health department clinic next week and see a doctor. He is just trying to brush it off as nothing, but I'm pretty worried about it.
  • Effexor didn't work for me and when I stopped taking it cold turkey I had severe withdrawals. I will never take another antidepressant because of that experience. When I was really young Zoloft worked, but had adverse effects (suicidal thoughts) as an adult. I pretty much gave up just because I had an a-hole doctor who…
  • No I understood your point clearly. But I did see some rather harsh comments about how obese people should not call themselves curvy, etc. Again, I just feel that it isn't anyone elses place to judge someone who may be very large but comfortable with themselves by saying they are curvy. Everyone has a different definition…
  • Thank you. Why does it matter if a woman is overweight/obese calls herself curvy? To me that says she needs to feel like cr@p for being big, but instead she may call herself curvy because is confident and comfortable with herself. Not all large women cry in a corner because they are big. Some of them are proud to be who…
  • I have 4 dogs. All of them real, with lots of shedding fur. lol. I never take them for walks even though they love to go, I am a terrible pet mommy. lol. I just go to the gym instead. I need to take them, but they have a ginormous backyard to run around in too so it's not like they are deprived. lol
  • lol. love the pic!
  • I could care less what you decide to do for yourself because it's yours decision (not being rude, it's all about you really). The only concern I have is that you have to be SUPER careful, any pictures/video or even word of mouth that you have chosen this career now can later on haunt you. There was a news story not too…
  • I'd love to try it but it is very pricey. She seems to have some great concepts and I've looked up some of her videos on youtube. I like how she incorporates a lot of muscles and works everything at the same time. I think once I am at a lower weight and can handle doing more intense workouts I might invest in a few of her…
  • I eat at Taco Bell on a regular basis and get the chicken soft taco without cheese. It's low cal and not as bad as the other options plus affordable. I just try to choose the fast food options that are better or take the bread off sandwiches, etc.
  • HRM + water sounds like a bad idea. Unless there is one that is waterproof?
  • Jumping on the bandwagon, although I am sad to say that so far I have only lost 2.8 pounds this month but its better than nothing! Previous group loss: 187.0 lbs My Loss: 2.8 lbs New Group Total: 189.8 lbs
  • Hello to all the new people! :)
  • I'm cheap so I went with these really awesome looser fitting (almost like yoga pants) danskin pants from walmart for 14 bucks. I also have an old pair of yoga pants and capri workout pants. I wear old tshirts and sports bras....I'm not too picky about what I'm going to get all sweaty in though. lol
  • Thanks for posting, I didn't even know they were doing an update! i am going to see if its on now. This is one reason I am opposed to surgery...if you are perfectly capable of losing the weight on your own and have to actually put the work in you will most likely keep it off in the long run because you have to work for it.…
  • Thanks for sharing! It is VERY true. The good news is, I learned at a young age to fight back. When I started getting picked on, I got mean towards those people. And they left me alone. I actually was accepted by the pretty, skinny girls in school and went on trips with them and hung out on a regular basis. I've always…
  • I think this was intended as a light humor thread, not an attack on anyone. There are plenty of supportive people here and as a matter of fact I love the OP for giving me something to read and giggle about! :)
  • I agree! I wipe them down too. I actually use the wet swiffer and wipe down my walls every few months too. They get dusty easy
  • There is a difference between large women who are confident and comfortable with themselves and women who are bigger and just hate anyone trying to change from being big. I encourage people who are trying to lose weight and love seeing people succeed. I want to get there one day myself! The only time I would ever speak…
  • YES! McDonalds usually has awesome tea. i have started using stevia in my unsweet tea and its very sweet, not quite like with sugar but the closest I have found!
  • Any movement helps! And if you do little things here and there you don't necessarily have to count them as exercise on MFP and it might help you burn extra calories. For example, unless I am walking at 3.5mph (which is really jogging for me if you ask me!) then I don't log much or any of the walking I do. On the treadmill…
  • oooh I didn't know they had a sweet tea kind! I might have to try it, I REALLY miss my sweet tea. lol
  • People rave about the Leslie Sansone walking dvds but I have never tried them. Netflix has a few good exercise videos as well as youtube. Walk laps around your living room or kitchen, cleaning is a good one, buy some hand weights and just move with those. Dancing is another option if there is a certain type of music you…
  • Don't be shy Elizabeth! There are some people on this site who tend to troll and/or be rude but for the most part the people here are nothing but supportive. I don't think I would have made it as far as I have without my MFP friends. I am close to your age, i'm 25 and have always been obese as well. You are more than…
  • Lol! We got plenty of pretty plus size women in Texas and it seems to be a LOT of the men here like it so I'm not complaining. We like our mexican food and bbq here! :)
  • I would laugh in her face. I live in South Texas, men here LOVE plus size women. I got lucky in that fact! lol.
  • I went for the Saucony brand, they seemed to have the extra springy cushion I am looking for. I hope that these 60 dollar shoes will last though! lol. If not I am thinking of New Balance next for sure. I didn't see any with as much cushion though, so that's why I opted for Saucony. They are mens too since my feet are so…
