  • Standard iodized table salt has 590mg sodium per 1.5g. The Sea Salt I own has 570mg sodium per 1.5g. So... 3% less sodium... no significant different (if you go by grams).
  • I try to eat back half my exercise calories. So a typical day may be 1200 calories (base), I exercise and burn 500 calories, so I then add 250 and end up with a goal of eating around 1450 calories. Not eating the calories doesn't work. Eating 100% of the calories defeats much of the purpose of exercise, and my motivation…
  • I'm guessing you were really, really hungry or thirsty.
  • In additional to my regular "real" workouts, I will often watch a movie while taking a nice and easy 3mph walk on the treadmill. Sometimes I take a break in the middle, and sometimes I just walk straight through the entire movie. Are you saying is not beneficial for my weight loss? I should just sit on the couch and enjoy…
  • If you can't spot the trend here... its "grilled chicken". While I do eat a lot of grilled chicken fast food items, I would like to add the following to the list: big mac with everything on it Now, before you kill me, let me just add its 540 calories, so this is a larger item for sure, but its 540 absolutely delicious…
  • Well, the good news is that we live in a democracy that (like almost all) dismiss these types of arguments. Illegal drugs are illegal for good reasons, not because the government is just a meanie-poo.
  • So imagine there's a product out there that kills 1 out of 10 people, but that helps the other 9 out of 10 get 5% better results from exercise. Should that product be legal to sell? I'm going to guess your answer is no. What if it was 1 out of 1,000,000,000 that dies? I'm going to guess your answer is yes. So now we're…
  • I have to say something about this one....I believe in the freedom of choice and wont shun anyone for their choices. We produce milk on our farm. HORMONE FREE. ANTIBIOTIC FREE. Cant vouch for others, or Big Ag farms, but we do not. Nor do we believe in it. They are NOT all the same. [/quote] Mlik is Milk Certified hormone…

  • And growth hormones. And whatever else they put in the cows to make them produce more milk.

  • Take Tums for calcium. 2 Tablets is 10 calories and 80% of your DV of calcium. Personally I use light vanilla soy milk in my cereal. The taste is great (personal opinion), and its nutritional numbers are hands down better than any cow milk (fact).

  • It really depends on your current height / weight on how good/bad it is for you. You can get the protein by eating boneless skinless grilled chicken breast, which is almost pure protein calories. Also, 100 is a lot better than 300. If you're trying to lose weight, try to get closer to 1200 and then exercise a little more…
  • Milk is healthy? Did you get this information from the national "we sell milk, and we say its healthy" council?

  • As it turns out, exactly 5 weeks ago today was when I started MFP. So I went to go look. On that day I weighed 179 and it told me "in 5 weeks, I would weigh 183". Well, today I weigh 165. The 5 week estimate stinks :)
  • The 5 week prediction is a very simple measurement using "if you ate exactly what you ate today, and exercise exactly the same as you did today" and did that every day for the next 35 days. It only uses your stuff from today, so it doesn't ever get smarter as you go along.
  • My standard advise is to * Measure everything you eat. Get a food scale and measure the stuff. It makes it easy to see that my "apples" are actually extra large apples (3x the calories) and my standard bowl of cereal was really 2-3 servings and not one..... * Exercise more. Walking is great. Try to do more?
  • It all depends on what you ate before and after. Cheapest: Locally, I can buy 1 Little Caesars large pepperoni pizza for $5. It is enough food for 1 person for day (Over 2400 calories). Realistically, when you go on a business trip with your co-workers, you aren't fixing your own food. You're eating out and probably…
  • I like to chop up an apple and a piece of grilled chicken into my salad. For the dressing, I find a tiny bit can go a long way if I mix up the dressing with the lettuce completely (get a bigger bowl and toss that sucker until its completely mixed). I really like kraft light done right catalina (50 cal / serving) but I know…
  • Your diary is private, so without seeing specifics, I can only give general advice.... so keep it up. Make sure you aren't secretly cheating yourself. Walking is an relatively easy exercise, so do as much as you can.
