  • Awesome Job! Keep going and you will make that goal weight with no problem!
  • I have a problem with the following: High sugar anything (cake, frosting, slushies) Carb heavy anything (pasta, non-thin crust pizza) I had to have my gallbladder out at the same time so anything high in fat does double damage. Incidentally it also made me lactose intolerant so no real milk but yogurt and cheeses are fine.
  • It's perfectly fine to start to want food again. In fact I would be worried if you didn't. I'm 20 days shy of being 2 years out, and I know what your going through I remember it well. That said you should be using your brand new restrictive stomach as a tool to feed your body the nutrition it needs on your new more active…
  • I got a request from you, are you from /r/loseit? I accepted anyway, welcome!
  • I went from doing practically anything but trying to be active, to doing everything trying to stay busy and active. Middle/High school was filled with eating and snacks and gaming till bed, College just meant I didn't have a bed time and as long as I went to class free rent with all the snacks that my part time…
  • Welcome! Congrats on your loss, and wish you the best on your continued success.
  • You are correct that any loss is a good loss. But we cannot pick and choose how our body loses weight. You can target areas but you can't say "I want to lose 15 pounds from my stomach." Everyone's body works differently, you may be gaining muscle mass and then once your muscles develop in that are you will continue to lose…
  • To each their own. I've given up trying to logic with HAES and Thin Privilege its no longer worth my time. I never told anyone they were fat, nor did I have room to talk. But I didn't get told as much as people I hear about. People take this **** way to seriously, need to live a little. As a former fat guy in training to…
  • Associate yourself with positive influences, find people to be around who are in the same mindset as you who want to lose weight. Gain that self confidence and say F*you to anyone who tells you different, Say I'm doing this for me, not for anyone else. I was 519 pounds heavy, recent graduate at 22 and decided enough was…
  • I would recommend to anyone for skin removal - checking your local plastic surgeons and hospitals to see if they have a donation program for burn victims because they will pay a portion of your surgery for skin graphs. Thanks for the compliment, we're gonna make it.
  • Awesome job good sir. Did you encounter any plateaus? Are you looking to get any surgery to deal with lose skin? Keep the hard work going, I'm right there with you.
  • You walking is better than you sitting on the couch doing nothing. I will say working out in a gym is probably one of the most hardest things to overcome, We were given a free year to the hospital owned gym, but the hours and motivation weren't there for me and I squandered a great gift. I now pay for a 24 hour gym, and go…
  • Welcome! I'm coming up on my sleeve 2 year in September. Are you drinking enough fluids? It has been warm here the last couple of weeks. Try subbing out a meal with a protein shake. I'm currently riding the 260~ plateau for the last of weeks so I feel your pain in getting frustrated. Here's to hoping you get approved.
  • Muskegon, right on the lakeshore - now 1000% more humidity!
  • Fly in an airplane Ride my bicycle more than 5 miles Walk 5K's Play two rounds of disc golf (36 holes) Fit in clothes that I've had in my closet since Middle school. Walk in to JCP and buy something off the shelf and not pay an arm and a leg for it cross my legs when sitting Actively workout for at least an hour.
  • I log all my exercise, but contrary to what people say on here to do - I do not eat the balance that I generate. I stick to my initial allowance for that date, but if I happen to go over a little then big whoop. My system has worked for me thus far, and it will continue as long as I stick to it. Hope that gives you an idea.
  • If it doesn't carry, then who cares. You shouldn't go to the gym to impress people by smelling good. I couldn't care what people think in the gym, I'm not there for to mess around or worry what people think they smell (if anything blame it on another person LOL!). I have 2 sets of clothes I hang them to dry when I get home…
  • Stock up on those medical cups, for water intake. I created a spreadsheet to track my water intake for the first 2 weeks. Get a timer so you know when you can take pain meds.
  • Clothing exchanges and deal hunting are my best friends. I have dropped from 60 to 44 sizes in pants, and from 6XL shirts to 2XL (I went kind of crazy at 3XL so now I have all these big shirts). But yeah, it gets expensive so be wise.
  • Welcome to the group and the area! If your interested I can get you information on local monthly meetings for Bariatric patients in West MI. Feel free to add me.
  • Welcome! I had my surgery in 9/2011 and I'm a fellow VSG. Feel free to add me.
  • Contact your surgeons office they usually have a clothing swap setup - I know mine does. Or just donate them to goodwill / salvation army. If your looking for money you could try posting them on craigslist or http://www.reddit.com/r/weightlossclothes/ I keep one pair of everything that I used to wear just as a reminder.
  • Wow. I couldn't eat a 1/2 of anything liquid in one sitting let alone anything remotely solid for the first 3 weeks. I suggest sticking with your liquids for at least 3 weeks post op, anything that gets caught in the stitch line your going to have a bad time. Keep drinking fluids, powerade zero really helped out for me.…
  • I experimented in making my own once. Muscle milk strawberry cream protein powder, bananas in a blender, a little water. put them in a ice cube tray with tooth picks in them. Probably 2 - 4 grams per cube.

  • The first step to getting back on track is identifying where you strayed from it? Not drinking enough water? Missing your vitamins? not getting that protein requirement for the day? I know that dealing with pain is a issue, my father suffers from chronic back pain and he had the surgery just walking a mile day or a good…
  • Thank you everyone. It's nice to see other people with either having or looking to do VSG. We gotta stick together! :)
  • Thank you mzub and aquaqueen. Its strange to see other topics of people losing less, I figured my accomplishment warranted more of a response. Maybe 220 pounds isn't enough to get peoples attention on this site. I did inspire someone else though for a friend request, so there is hope.
  • I get compliments on my shirt all the time makes people laugh. I love it because it reminds me of an episode of Sealab 2021 where there was an off character named "Chopper Dave" and his helicopter would always get in trouble or explode. It cracks me up.
  • Apparently I suck at trying to post images... December 2010 Feburary 2012 September 2012
  • Amazing job! You took the tool that you got and used it! Kudos to you, keep up the good work!
