I think you can be body positive without idolising fat. I saw a documentary where some of the people on it idolised fat and were in denial about how being overweight effected their health. I am body positive but I want to lose weight because I want to be healthy and live a long healthy life

Set the goal to where it feels good for you then you can always look at it again when you get there and change it

I agree that activity trackers with a heart rate monitor are more accurate

I would feel more satisfied after the crisps as popcorn just makes me feel more hungry when I eat it
-
I just want to be healthy so I can live a long happy life, don’t really care if people think my face looks too thin

anyone can join it is an open group on the groups section, just thought it might be nice if we could all support and encourage each other throughout the year

I have to exercise on an empty stomach otherwise I feel sick and sometimes have to stop early!!

I don’t keep any treats in the house that way I can’t mindlessly eat things. I have to walk to the shop if I really want something. Most of the time that puts me off.

I had the opposite problem when I first went vegan. I found the sheer amount of food I had to eat to reach my calorie goal unmanageable. I lost about 15lbs in a couple of weeks. Had to add in things like nuts to bring my calories up in the end. I would suggest getting some good vegan cookbooks to get some meal ideas for…

I count myself as lightly active as although I have a desk job I tend to do about 15000 steps a day without exercise included. I think starting at lightly active is a good idea and just see how you get on. If you find you are loosing too fast or feel dreadful then increase it

About 5-6 veggie portions and 2 fruit portions a day for me

I can’t help with the cravings but I find that going for a walk really helps my cramps

I prefer teste over alcohol content so I would always go for a nice quality beer or cider. There is a new light beer that I found recently that tastes like a craft beer but is only about 90kcal!

I have had a Fitbit and I now have a garmin forerunner. I found that my Fitbit would overestimate distance by a tenth and overestimate calorie count by more than this. Also my gamin doesn’t add my walking calories on (only my exercise calories) which is much better for me as otherwise I end up with over a thousand exercise…

As a vegan for over three years I can say that it is possible to be a vegan and eat a ton of junk food. If you want to improve your health you want to focus on cooking your own meals from scratch. I tend to use cookbooks for ideas for example: oh she glows and deliciously Ella.

I'm a vegan and I think this documentary is bad and makes vegans look crazy. If people are going to make things like this it should be based solely on evidence otherwise what is the point

The number of calories I need to maintain hasn't changed since going vegan but what has changed is my ability to keep within those calories (as a beef burger carries a lot more calories than a mushroom burger for eg). I can probably maintain on about 2,500kcal a day (not sure as I am not in maintenance yet) but that is due…

I went vegan about a year and a half ago, would be nice to have a few more vegan friends :)

I have been vegan for about a year and a half and I have found that hazelnut milk in coffee is amazing :)

I have been too thin and too fat and I only ever got negative comments when I was thin.

Hi, my name is Jenni and I would like to be involved :)

Your body is able to make all the cholesterol that you need from the fat that you take in. I am unsure where you heard that re insomnia/depression but having a degree in Biology and having studied courses in nutrition I have never heard that....... even if this is the case (which I would need evidence in order to verify)…

I have had no issues with parties and going out but it does stop me from getting takeaways and eating the cakes which other people bring into work which my body thanks me for :)

My stats are a bit different than you (5ft9 and 203lbs) but I do about 10,000-15,000 steps a day I net about 1600ckal (so I eat more like 1800-2200kcal depending on exercise) a day and as long as I stick to this I will lose more than 2lbs a week (mfp would put that at 1lb a week but I don't track my cycle to work). You…

This seems to have descended into chaos pretty quickly...... The people that mean anything to me in my life have been very supportive of my vegan-ism the only issue I have had was someone who was arranging catering for a work function who said in a very judgmental tone 'what do vegans eat' I almost replied 'food'

It sounds as though it is going what my garmin vivosmart does and is including your BMR in the calculation so the 2100 would be what you are burning total for the day. when I link it to MFP it only gives be back a tiny proportion of this (about 500kcal for about 15k steps)

I'm a vegan also. Added you both
