  • A little late to the game but wanted to say hello! I was on HMR Decision Free for nine months and tracked in a little red book. Transitioned to Healthy Solutions two weeks ago and began tracking here. Am down 122lbs and am slowing down in the home stretch. I also write a blog - HealthyAcademic.com - which is where I…
  • I've been injured so no minutes and it's killing me!!!
  • August 3, 2012
  • Same. I use ground flax as an egg replacement in baking. Use it in my homemade energy bites. Sprinkled on salad and in smoothies.
  • Congratulations! I am also an August bride 8.3.12 My advice is to track and work to be a healthy bride but don't stress! The pounds will come off if you take care of yourself but you don't need the added stress of the numbers on the scale :o) (my job is very stressful and my doctor said the stress is contributing to my…
  • Way to go everyone!!!!!!!! 35 minutes today on the elliptical in the hotel gym!
  • Thank you everyone! Packed a resistance band. Trip number one of 2012 in progress!

  • I try to always have a mix of carb, fat, and protein for satiation.

  • I focus on eating local first. This is the most important to me. I can ask a local farmer how they grow something which means I can often get chemical free food that the farmer just can't afford to get certified as organic (it takes a lot of time and money). Plus I am reducing the carbon footprint of my food. Then I look…
  • It would be awesome if people read the entire thread before asserting no one has supported claims. I have been trying to keep up and feel like people are posting without reading.
  • I know of tons! Here are some blogs I sent my mom when she asked: http://www.theppk.com/ http://happyherbivore.com/ http://www.thekindlife.com/recipes-gallery http://ohsheglows.com/recipes/ http://www.uncoveringfood.com/search/label/Vegan Enjoy!!!! Edited to add: The last link is my blog. I promise I only posted tasty…
  • I count what I pour.
  • Thank you for tracking! Love the colors! I did 20 minutes today!
  • You can do this! I eat a mostly vegan diet. There are a lot of groups on here and a lot of blogs out there that are really helpful. I have learned all sorts of new recipes and have created a number of my own. I actually just posted my 105 calorie (with 14g of protein) seitan sausage recipe. It was so good I had some for…
  • Today, aside from miso paste, everything I consumed was a fruit, vegetable, or juice of a fruit or vegetable (wasn't feeling well) and I consumed almost 900 calories. So while I agree, it can add up (granted this was an extreme case and there was a couple glasses of juice). (Edit to add that I normally consume 1500…
  • This is an awesome goal! I was trying to think of an exercise based goal for the year and this is perfect. Thanks for starting this group :o)
  • The local shop near me bakes them instead of frying. That's as close to a recipe as I have, sorry!
  • You should see if you have a local tea shop. I am a huge wine lover and just like wine, each tea has it's own unique flavor profile. I have so many teas now that I drink hot and cold. If you don't have a tea shop near you, maybe an online shop like Teavana can help!
  • Living with Vit D issues in sunny California. Took two rounds of weeks of megadoses and now taking a twice daily OTC supplement to get to the bottom end of normal. It's been over a year and a half. Actually this post reminds me I need to go and have it checked again...
  • Just to let you know, the 21-day vegan kickstart starts tomorrow. I know you aren't vegan, but it's a great way to get motivated on your new commitment. I eat a mostly vegan diet for health reasons (I say mostly because I am human and slip but I try my hardest) -- I have definitely noticed an improvement in my health and…
  • Love pickled veggies. Add a tbsp of juice to carbonated water. Miso vegetable soup.
  • Depending on what the tea contains, you can get some benefits. However for many of the benefits, you have to drink a lot of tea for an extended period of time.
  • Do you have a Whole Foods near you? They have a few choices. Also I *think* Rainblo bubbly gum balls are also okay. I also don't do artificial sugar but I feel like every time I found a mainstream gum that's okay, it seems like the next time I go back the formula is changed and it's got them in it. I rarely chew gum though.
  • Also, buy a bottle of real fruit juice. Add a couple tablespoons to your water. It will lightly sweetened it and you are putting real food in your body instead of chemicals. Or make lots of herbal tea and put it in the fridge.
  • Some money saving tips: * Dry beans - much cheaper than canned!!!! * Grains from the bin -- oats, brown rice, quinoa (if on sale) * Buy canned and frozen veggies and fruit (plain, not fancy name brand stuff) -- they are canned and frozen at the peak of the season to retain nutrients * Buy meat in bulk, break it down and…
  • I have almost 100lbs to lose (over 100 to get to the correct BMI range but right now I am shooting for a smaller goal). A couple of things: 1. I prepare different food than my significant other. However if you are the cook? Tough toodles he should eat what you cook. 2. If you can afford Crystal Light and 100-calorie packs,…
  • I make portable energy bites. Or blend it into homemade salad dressing for a hidden protein punch.
  • Thanks!!!! I love learning more about nutrition and health :o)
