Congrats on your hard work!

The first three weeks sucked for me. I was eating about 2,050 for calories and doing everything I could to eat more protein, avoid pre-packaged food, etc. It just was what it was. The worst would sneak up around 8:30 PM at night (former ice cream time). So I then got motivated to work out more, so that I could get those…

@Kavery29 - I personally, read a lot about what marathon training looks like, what the requirements were and signed up. At that moment I could walk on a treadmill for 40 minutes and I was about 3 weeks into the the beginning to run program by Runner's World. I signed up in early March for an October Marathon. Everyone I…

Congrats! I'm doing my second marathon in Toledo the weekend before. Honestly, training during the winter, here in Wisconsin, has been a little rough. I'm starting to think fall marathons are the way to go. It sounds like you've done your homework, so now, the only thing you need to do is run! For me, the first 23 miles…

Truthfully, I am at maintenance and I just naturally dropped off logging my food all the time. Being in maintenance mode has shown that I sometimes go weeks without logging things, but will start logging to do a quick tune up here or there. I do know that after the holidays, I did eat a lot (I was a little lower,…

Awesome job, fellow Wisconsinite!

Yeah, I get comments like that. The worst was when I donated all of my old clothes. I heard from someone at work, that maybe I shouldn't have done that. I was told that I look too skinny and that I need to bulk up in the shoulders. What is weird, is that I am in the best shape of my life. So, whatever.

First off, welcome! I actually stumbled across your blog via the posts here. I like how you put it all out there. It is truly inspiring. I also think it is super cool that how I struggle with my internal dialog, you do also, but very much more extroverted manner. To cap that off, I just read about you having dealing with…

I lost my weight logging. I went into maintenance mode and figured out what my calorie consumption should while continuing to log. Now I am at peak training for a marathon coming up. If it wasn't for logging, I would be underweight because I am now need to be consuming an average of 3000- 3300 calories a day. Logging has…

It's called hyponatremia. It is really hard to do unless you are chugging gallons of water or stressing your body via an endurance event. Of all the sports, it appears to hit marathon runners the most because the cells can't process the water due to not having enough sodium for the water to be absorbed through the cell…

I really appreciate the comments. It was weird, I just saw it for what it was. It wasn't that my coworkers were commenting on me, but they were putting their emotions and self-image on to me.

I'm 6'1" and I started here at about 226. My highest weight was 236, which I had all kinds of moobs and love handles.. I really didn't like being out of shape or tired all the time; how I felt on the inside didn't match how I looked on the outside. Since joining MFP, I have reached my goal weight of 175 lbs. My clothes…

I have to agree about the tons of women and this generally being a women's only site. Personally, I like the food tracker and the database with all of the different items in it. I started this site at 226 (I think I got to 236 at my heaviest) and currently weigh 172; I'm 6'1". This site has prompted me to train for a…

Maybe it's the hair cut? I'm kinda partial to the thinner me. Thanks for the good work props!

Sorry about your father's passing. I think small goals are awesome! It was how I was able to lose weight. Personally, with the tools here, I was able to determine how 300 extra calories a day equated to me weighing what I did. Finally, I met with my doctor before starting this journey. I got a physical with the blood…

I stumbled across this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/635529-corn-used-my-man-parts-as-a-speedbag I think it sums up everything about quick fixes vs. sustainable change. It is awesome to read the comments from others.

Approximately every other day, sometimes I might wait for up to 3 days. Personally, I am training for a marathon, so I don't want my weight to go down, but after losing weight, I don't want it to go up. Fun Fact: According to the documentary series, "The Weight of the Nation", people who are successful in losing weight and…

I was digging deeper into the success stories. I am glad that I found this. That is amazing!!! Losing 107 pounds doing hard work, following a free website is nothing to scoff at. Congrats!

After: 175.6 (taken about 5 minutes ago in my office at work) Before: 226-232ish (circa November 2009)

Congrats!

It doesn't sound like you "found" it. It sounds like the muscle showed up at your door and was like "hey, I'm busting in. You're going to see me, like it or not". Congrats!

Congrats! That is a huge accomplishment.

Yes. Stress causes your body to release the hormone cortisol. An increased level of cortisol in the body triggers your body that it should store calories and disrupts your sleep cycle. Link: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=53304 From what I understand, this goes back to caveman days. When humans…

I think this says it the best! I also use the quick add calories, when I go out for dinner and take an HONEST guess at what I ate.
