Ok, so again I am currently training for a marathon in Oct. and am up to over 14 miles on the weekend and approx. 12-20 additional miles during the week. I weight approx. 150, am 5'7 and have an office job. How many calories should I eat a day, and how many do I eat on my long run days? Thanks

Thank you all for your posts! It's nice to have the support!

It's so true that you can't outrun a bad diet, and thank you for your post. I guess I'm more confused as to the amount of food I should be consuming in a day as well as the amount of exercise calories I should be eating back. Really don't know where to go from here?

Thanks! I will look into it.

I feel the exact same way. I started my journey on Weight Watchers, but I have had a lot more success on MFP.

THe Couch to 5K program is awesome. It took me from not being able to run at all to running for 30 minutes non-stop. I've gone on to training for a 1/2 Marathon because of that AP!

I had to do the same thing last week, and It worked for me. I got the scale really moving again!

This is hitting way too close to home, and is the reason I don't run in the mornings on work days. I literally had to go on the bike path one time. I just did a squat right there...SOOOO embarrassing...hahaha, but you have to do what you have to do. Thank GOD no one was in that section of the path at that time! :)

Mon 08/13/12 07:03 AMYou may want to consider changing out some of the foods you eat. I see people complaining about being stuck all the time and then see they are eating bad foods. I'm not saying you are but it's something to look into. A lot of people save calories so they can have fattening desserts and treats every day…

Dayton here. Feel free to add me.

I would love to start weight lifting, but I am totally clueless. How did you start? What program did you use?
-
 I LOVE THIS! This was exactly what I needed to hear today, and I appreciate the pep talk!!!

I have been running since December, and I'm training for my 1st 1/2 marathon in Oct. Feel free to add!

Honestly I work out so that I can feel good, look good and eat more! :)

I am 5'7'', and my final goal is 135!
-
That is actually great!

Egg whites on wheat bread. It's delicious!
-
I use those Power Bar energy gels and the Advocare hydration gels. Love them both!

Reading a magazine and getting a manicure. That is a perfect day for me!

I was NEVER a runner, and I did the program this year. It really works, and I continued to to 5K-10K, and I'm currently going through 10K-21K. The program really does work, and just keep up with it and don't be too hard on yourself if you have a hard day! :) Good luck to you!

Happy. Healthly. Wealthy. Skinny- repeats over and over in my mind!
-
My goal is to be 135-140lbs. I have never seen the 130s!

Thanks again for all of the advice. To answer the questions I'm training for the Dayton Cooridor 1/2 Marathon in October. This is all sort of surreal to me because I was always overweight as a kid and unable to run a mile. Now I'm doing 5Ks and more.

That was one of the best articles I've ever read. I was the fat girl when I started the C25K!
-
Please add me! I need more friends! :) P.S. Did you do the color run? That looks like so much fun!
-
I am currently training for a 1/2 marathon, and I've been doing Zumba and the NIKE fitness ap for my cross training. I would really like to incorporate swimming, but I am sore from my runs!
-
Thanks for the advice. So should I increase the Calories up to 1500 and still eat my workout calories then?
