  • What she said. Estimating how many calories your burn isn't easy.
  • Adding strength training, instead of just doing cardio, is a great way to speed up your weight loss and just improve your overall physique. When I was just dropping weight I still looked fat, but now that I've added strength training I look more toned and I just feel better overall too.
  • Some of the OPs points are a bit misleading: 1. Only get your sugar from fruit ... Agree to some extent. 2. No carbs after 8pm - Cutting some carbs may be a good thing, but it doesn't matter what time of day you're eating them. 3. eat six small meals a day to stoke the metabolic furnace - Eating all day doesn't help your…
  • Profile pic, nothing is more awesome than a couple that works out and runs together!
  • These are 3 seriously solid choices.
  • I also made this post on the "progresspics" sub-reddit: I have been working out 4 times per week on my lunch break: - Upper body on Mon and Wed - Lower body on Tuesday and Thursday I eat about 3,000 calories a day and I try to hit 190 grams of protein a day (especially on days that I workout). I have worked out a lot over…
  • Again, thanks for the encouragement. Sometimes it's nice to see my progress in actual photos because it's hard to tell when you look at yourself in the mirror each morning since the change is gradual.
  • Thanks for the feedback!
  • I weighed in at around 225 when I was finished up college years ago. I never looked "fat" in clothes, but I couldn't even imagine how my body looked compared to how it looks now. It takes a lot of work, but so far the work has been worth it.
  • Thanks to everyone for the kind words of advice. It's a huge inspiration to me. Also, I will check out leangains and see if that's something I want to follow!
  • Thanks for the feedback. As things stand now I'm going to go back to eating at a calorie deficit while still eating a lot of protein each day. My goal is to trim down on some of my body fat still (especially in my mid section). I will keep on hitting the gym to stay strong and firm. I will post more results before summer.
  • Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I have been trying to keep my protein intake high (1 gram of protein for each pound I weigh). Hopefully that continues to help. I will keep an eye on my progress and adjust my diet/workout accordingly I guess. I just don't want to keep working out and not get anywhere before summertime. Thanks…
  • One thing that I look forward to most all week is enjoying a few craft beers (at home or sometimes even at the brewery if I'm lucky) on the weekend. I've been able to drop weight even with having a few beers on the weekend. I'm very strict about my diet during the week and I hit the gym 4 times a week after work. It's all…
  • Eating something small before a workout is a good idea. I usually have some almonds. I would do a smoothie or protein shake after the workout.
  • Fage is great. I usually have the plain non-fat version which is only 100 calories a serving but it still has 18 grams of protein. I usually add a little granola to it so there's a bit of a crunch. Great, healthy, and filling snack to have!
  • My favorite peanut butter is the Trade Joe's Crunchy one. The ingredients are simply Peanuts and Salt. A few people have also mentioned it, but looking at the ingredients is important. Here's the ingredients in Creamy Jiff: ROASTED PEANUTS AND SUGAR, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: MOLASSES, FULLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS…
  • That's some excellent, inspiring progress! Please share some details about how you did it. - What workouts you focused on, how often you did them - How many calories you ate daily - How much protein you had each day
  • Sometimes just opening your mouth and asking if you can work-in with them is all you need to do. I used to not feel comfortable doing this, but I've come to realize that if I don't speak up I won't get to use the equipment that I need to. You're paying the exact same price as they are to use it.
  • Yea, it's amazing how much sugar can be in something even if it's labeled to be healthy. I used to be a cream and one sugar in my coffee guy too, switching to black has been great. I feel less bloated after breakfast and it helps cut out some calories and sugar since I have a coffee in the morning and a coffee in the…
  • I have been having a very lean, filling, high-protein breakfast and I've had great results. - Trader Joe's Brown Eggs Large (140 Cals - 12g Protein) - Egg Beaters - Egg Whites (6 tablespoons) (50 Cals - 10g Protein) - Morning Star Sausage Pattie (veggie) (80 Cals - 10g Protein) - McCanns Quick & Easy Irish Oatmeal (150…
  • This doesn't make body fat go away. You can't spot reduce.
  • It's important to know that you can spot-reduce body fat. Just continuing to drop weight will eventually show on your mid section. Lifting free weights will help you see results quicker, don't be afraid of "bulking up" as many women say. Also keep in mind that you've lost a lot of weight at 103 lbs. Some of your midsection…
  • Do you mix this in a blender or just mix with a spoon?
  • Wouldn't it be better to do them every other day so you muscles have some time to rest? Also, form is important. Make sure that when you perform a squat that your thighs go parallel to the floor (don't be afraid to go down) and that your feet are about shoulder length apart.
  • Hopefully someone sees the comment, including the OP but has any heard of Aeropress coffee maker before? I picked up one recently and I've been able to drink my coffee black when I use it because it brews such a great cup. It's similar to a French press but it uses air pressure to brew the coffee. You push down on it and…
  • I came here to say this too. I hate when people say things like this because it makes females nervous about lifting weights because they think they will look like they have huge man muscles. This simply isn't going to happen. Weights are a great way to make yourself stronger and to gain muscle and get rid of fat. I would…
