  • Way to go, that's great! Building our own support is so good. My goal is 80-90 lbs with about 65 to go! Good luck!
  • Do you know the source of your stress? Is it your job or your personal life? Or did the depression and anxiety "come out of nowhere?" I almost took a leave like that and my dr was wanting to put me on anti-depressant medication for depression and anxiety...but I knew deep down that it was the unrealistic demands of my job…
  • Welcome to MFP, and hopefully you've been encouraged! We all want to succeed and and want to see you succeed too! Consistent exercise is important (I took multiple "fitness classes" in college to force me to start making it a habit) and once you start paying more attention to what you eat (such as calorie counting), it…
  • Good question. I did use Hydroxycut a few years ago and really liked it in the beginning. I could really tell I was burning more calories because I was getting so much hotter and sweatier during workouts (it's a thermogenic). BUT...not too long after I started taking it, I started having chest pains and pressure on my…
  • Well, welcome to MyFitnessPal!!! It is so helpful! Find friends and get connected, and be careful not to eat too little calories if you are having an abundance of them left over at the end of the day. Too little calories can slow down your metabolism. Keep up the good work and again, WELCOME!!!
  • So many of us have felt what you feel and can relate more than you know! You’re in a good place for emotional and practical support and you strive to win this battle. It’s ONE day at a time. Phil 4:13 carries me so many days. Hang in there and even when you don’t do it perfectly…don’t give up on yourself! Feel free to…
  • Wow, sorry you had to go through that but thanks for the reminder! Thanks for reminding us that hard work is really the ONLY thing what works!!!!
  • You go!!!!! Keep it up!!!!
  • Very cool, THANKS!!!! And congrats!!! I've always wanted to do that...
  • Girl, I COMPLETELY understand!!!! I have to eat a little something sweet every day or I about lose my mind!!! It's all about staying within my calorie goal each day though. Here are some of my favorite low-calorie sweets that help get me through: Atkins carmel nut chew bars (they kind of taste like a mini snickers bar to…
  • Ha, ha we all jump on this topic!!! Would definitely be some authentic mexican food or On The Border, then a fudge temptation waffle bowl sundae at Dairy Queen! YUMMY!!!! I guess it's nice to dream...
  • Definitely!!! You want to keep your metabolism going!!!!
  • Very cool, thanks for sharing!!!
  • Girl, do I understand!!! My husband and mine's 1st anniversary was in May and we went away for the weekend. The cake was just as good if not better than the wedding, and the topper was HUGE! I had to end up bringing it in to work to get rid of the rest, after I'd already had several pieces and was stressing. It was still…
  • Wow, I don't think I could have said it any better. There are so many seasons in my life where I've been healthier, looked better, weighed less...and yet I can never recall a time when I was happy with myself. I am most definitely my own worst critic and a loved unconditionally by those in my life. I hope one day I can be…
  • Very nice!!! Thanks!!!!
  • Gyms usually have little hand held machines that calculate, or I'm sure you could buy one. They are not always accurate, as some have stated, because they don't take into account your lean muscle mass. The BMI charts say I should weigh around 140, but my goal weight is around 160-170 because I have more of a muscular…
  • I am so excited for you!!!! This is one of my future fitness goals. Hopefully the near future! Glad you're in a training program, hopefully that will help with any difficulties if they arise. There's a lot of good info on the web about training for your first marathon, do's and don'ts, etc. Good luck to you!!!!
  • Wow, Jen, thanks so much for sharing! It is such a process and journey for a lot of us to FINALLY get to the place where we are willing to stick with it for the long haul!!!! Family is also such a motivator for me-my parent's health is awful because of the weight they've gained over the years. Not only do I want to be an…
  • I am so sorry for your loss...and I most definitely understand eating as a way of coping with hard things that life can throw at us. You've come to a good place with a lot of tools and support! Feel free to friend me if you want to and good luck to you!!!!
  • I crave sweets ALL the time!!! I've found some "loop holes" that seem to work for me though and eat at least one of these every day to help curb my sweet tooth and avoid eating a bunch of "bad" sweets: sugar-free jello cups, Atkins Carmel Nut Chew bars, and Full Bar (Cocoa Chip flavor). I love to eat, so I'm very motivated…
  • I really resist the urge to weigh in more than once a week. It helps some people, but for me it only ends up discouraging me since my weight can fluctuate so much. I try to use only the same scale at the gym (it's like tone in doctor's offices) and I weigh first thing in the mornging before I've really had much to eat. I…
  • Glad you're joining us!!! Stay connected and take advantage of all the tools!!! Good luck!!!
  • Hi everyone!!! Just wanted to check in- I'm doing well! Meeting my calorie and exercise goals this week has been challenging, but I did it! I'm excited to weigh in on Monday and will stay connected. Wishing everyone a wonderful 4th with their families!!!
  • I just do it because I feel like I have no choice (in a good way). When I'm so unhappy with my weight and how I look and feel, it affects EVERYTHING else in my life negatively. I don't want to live my whole life miserable about something I can change!!!
  • Although I think you look BEAUTIFUL and a very healthy, attractive weight...I also know that no matter how many compliments we get or no matter how many times others tell us we look great, it doesn't ever change the way we view ourselves. I too, wish I could be satisfied with my body like my husband is. I wish I could be…
  • I would LOVE to join! My name is Sarah, and I'm from Indy. I'm new to MFP and wish I would have found it sooner. I've been journaling what I eat by hand for months!!! I came to MFP for added accountability and support, and I'm finding it! Goals for July are to lose SOMETHING each week...a minimum of 1 pound per…
  • If you can't find what you're looking for in the database, I used Calorie King for a long time before I found MFP and used to look up food on there all the time! If you find something comparable there, maybe you could add it in to the MFP database! :)
  • Welcome aboard!!! Consistency is the most important! I don't think anyone does it perfect, but we just keep trying. One of the most important things I've learned is that if I "fall off" the wagon, to get IMMEDIATELY back on, like within a day at the most. Logging your food will most definitely be helpful. It was…
