  • You don't mention what type of cardio you are doing but you don't only have to do eliptical or treadmill to get cardio. Walking, running, swimming, HIIT can also work. As others have mentioned, also do some weight training and mix it up. PS I don't like the eliptical or treadmill as I think they are boring too. I would…
  • I have done Ripped in 30 before as well as Killer Buns & Thighs and 6 week 6 pack. Usually I combine KB&T & 6W6P and do a 75 minute workout.
  • Since everyone burns calories at different levels, MFP doesn't have it set up. You can add an exercise and put in how many calories you did burn (would need a heart rate monitor).
  • Great Job!!!! Thanks for the encouragement.
  • Great Job - Keep it up!!! Are you tracking measurements as well as your weight? If not, you may want to as sometimes the scale doesn't move but you may be losing inches.
  • Hang in there. I am right with you - right about the same weight and trying to lose just a few pounds. Maybe focus on toning versus trying to lose. It is definitely harder to lose when you don't have as much to lose. I do know that I tend to do better if I track my food every day (really makes me think about what I am…
  • My son hates cheese so since he was little we would order for him with no cheese. Waiters would look at us like we were crazy - sometimes we would even say he was allergic to make sure they didn't put cheese on the order. More difficult in Italian and Mexican restaurants where just about everything is covered in cheese. It…
  • You can do it over again or move to a different workout. Look under the groups and search for Jillian Michaels or 30 day shred and I am sure you would get a number of ideas as Jillian has many DVDs out (as well as many other trainers).
  • While I do agree that some of her comments are pointless, I have yet to do anyone's workout video where the trainer actually did the whole entire workout. Tony Horton in the P90X videos doesn't do the entire workout either.
  • When you get done with 30 DS you may want to try Killer Buns & Thighs. I did Ripped in 30 which was good, but I am really seeing my thighs tone up with Killer Buns & Thighs. There are 3 workouts (levels 1, 2, & 3).
  • I use Truvia or Stevia.
  • I haven't done 30 day shred, but I have done ripped in 30 and it really helped tone up. I am now alternating between Killer Buns and Thighs/6 week 6 pack and Ripped and Extreme shed and shred/Killer Abs. since you have done 30 day shred, you may want to do ripped in 30 if nothing else just for a little variety.
  • Since you like JM workouts try her Killer Buns and Thighs. I did RI30 and it was good too, but I saw more results with measurements in my hips and thighs when doing the Killer Buns and Thighs. There are 3 levels and all are great. I do them in conjunction with the 6W6P workouts.
  • Have you taken your measurements? Sometimes the scale doesn't move, but you may be toning and losing inches. You may find your clothes are fitting different. If you didn't measure when you started, go ahead and measure now as you will have something besides the scale to go by. I haven't looked at your diary but also make…
  • I am using 8 lb (roughly 3.5kg) for most although there are a few exercises (circuit 2 of level 1) where I grab the 10 lb weights. I did Day 1 - level 1 of RI30. I also did 6W6P along with it and am going to alternate RI30 and Killer Buns & Thighs.
  • I'm in. I have done RI30 before so this will be the second go round.
  • It is a big step to just get started - no matter what the starting number. Congratulations on starting. And it is just a number (that will go down). I also encourage you to take your measurements - not so much to see where you are now, but to track progress at times when the scale doesn't want to move.
  • Don't have any photos, but I love this workout. There are 2 levels - each workout is about 30-35 minutes. Even after just a few workouts, I could see a difference. Level 2 is quite challenging. I am going to start another round of it this week.
  • I have lost inches and can definitely see a difference in how toned my legs are. I have lost about 3 lbs (but I only have about 5-10 lbs to lose). I lost the weight when I began to do two of the workouts together (KB&T and 6W6P) and get in at least an hour workout.
  • I have been doing Killer Buns & Thighs and 6 week 6 pack and they have really helped tone. We also have a group "Jillian Michaels workout fans"
  • Did you do measurements/photos when you began? I have heard many say that they didn't see the changes until they compared the before photos and measurements. Keep up the good work.

  • The workout style is called Tabata. You do each exercise 8 rounds - go for 20 seconds as hard/fast as you can and then rest for 10 seconds so it takes 4 minutes each exercise. Then you rest (walk it out) for 3 minutes in between each. Basically a 30 minute workout. You can do any 4 exercises (even machines). I don't know…
  • I would think high impact aerobics, but I haven't done that particular workout. I do the 6W6P and KB&T and usually log as Calisthenics - vigorous effort. I too don't have a HR monitor.
  • JM's ab workouts focus is on abs and core, but she incorporates the whole body into it. I have been doing 6 week 6 pack and there are many squats and impact moves along with the core work (level 2 more than level 1) so it may not be the best for you with your injury. I have some hip issues and have able to modify some of…
  • I don't have any pics to post but I too hold weight in my hips. I have lost about 4 inches in my hips and almot 2 inches in my thighs. I have been doing JM Ripped in 30 as well as her Killer Buns and Thighs and 6 Week 6 Pack and my trainer has me do a lot of lunges and squats. I am only about 5 lbs from my goal weight and…
  • We had a Duct Tape night for the youth at church - everyone came in various duct tape outfits and costumes. We also had a whole Duct Tape living room and even a duct taped car.
  • I have two favorite cups - one is a 16 oz and the other a 24oz. I try to drink at least two of each (some days I don't get quite this much) plus I have a 6oz cup at work that I drink two of. Find yourself a favorite cup or water bottle that you will drink from. I found that it helped me.
  • everyone has been quiet on here this week - hope everyone is ok. I haven't gotten in many workouts in the last week. Hoping to get back on track by the weekend. Have a great week!!
  • I am 5'2" as well and currently weigh 113. I have lost a total of 17 pounds (15 after joining MFP). I lost a few by eating better, but most has been from working out. I know sometimes it is tough to get in a workout, but a 30 minute workout may be a great stress reliever. Hopefully you can find the time to get one in a few…
  • Per a post on JM's own website (Q&A), you should eat something before your workout even if it is just a piece of fruit. Here is the link http://www.everydayhealth.com/fitness/ask-jillian-the-best-time-of-day-to-workout.aspx?xid=nl_LosingItWithJillianMichaels_20121004 I don't always eat before I work out - if I work out…
