We're here for you! Recovering from anorexia is an incredible achievement--well done!

I started taking Celexa recently, so am jumping on here just to see what anyone else says. I've taken it in the past without noticing a difference each way, but this is the first time I've started taking it while trying in a focused and consistent way to lose weight.

I have the same problem, and something that helps me (sometimes) is brushing my teeth and using listerine after my last meal--I think it makes me feel more done with eating, and it feels embarrassing to have to brush my teeth a second time after a binge, which can stop me from doing it.

When I tore my ACL, I ended up getting in the best shape of my life through PT. If you're working hard at PT and eating at a deficit, you'll do great.

Love the claddagh tattoo!

That's such a good one! I've gotten into the habit of averting my eyes from every mirror and doing whatever I can to avoid seeing my reflection. I was surprised to see myself squat the other day and think hey...I look kind of good....I'm a really good squatter!

I've made cauliflower pizza bites before and they're not a perfect substitute (obviously) but they're REALLY good! http://www.damyhealth.com/2012/03/cauliflower-pizza-bites/

If you're burning 500 calories from running, that would be +500 to your total, NOT -500. You will probably lose at 1300 or 1400 calories.

I suffer from this too! Here are a few things I've found: - Plan your dinner in advance, and once you're done, brush your teeth. - Throw out foods that trigger a binge. I was fine for a week without eating any nutella, and then I realized I had some in my cabinet. I had it on toast. And then again the next night, and then…

Everyone else is making great suggestions, and I'm not sure if this is EXACTLY what you're asking, but I sometimes make what I think of as "sandwich bowls" with brown rice. One of my biggest cravings is big fat deli sandwiches on a gigantic white flour roll or wedge. So I try to recreate some of my favorite sandwiches by…

I know they have a special setting (or did) where you can specifically request snacks under a certain amount of calories, although that won't help if you're interested in macros, etc. Also--if anyone is interested in trying it out, I have a coupon for you to get your first and fifth box free--so if you aren't sure, use it…

I bought some chorizo-style seitan that I really loved and I bet you could reproduce it by adding in chopped onions and some seasoning. Really enjoyed sauteeing that with some peppers and mixing into brown rice.

Umekochan, do you make the omelet at home and then reheat it at work? Is it good in the microwave?

I'm almost reluctant to revive this thread, but I did want to say something that I didn't really see represented yet: I don't think there's anything wrong with losing weight for vanity. Recently I think you hear a lot of emphasis on wanting to be strong and healthy, instead of thin, and while it comes from a good place I…

I really like seitan as a protein source, if you can tolerate gluten. There's a brand called Upton something or other and they do a fake chorizo seitan that tastes great and is very high protein. I love eggs, but don't always have time to cook them in the morning. Something that works for me is making little mini egg cups…

Oy! I'm so sorry for all that's happened. The next time I see a gourd I will spitefully stomp on it in your honor. Sounds like your attitude is good, though. Go easy on yourself--the one surefire way for me to quit a healthy eating plan for good is to get upset about one slip up and then give up in shame. Feel free to add…

Feel free to add me as well!

I accept random adds!

This is very picky, and not at all necessary for good hummus--but I really like the smoothness of hummus if you boil the chick peas and peel them! I find popping the little chick peas out of their skins to be very satisfying, and the texture is fantastic afterwards.

To repeat what everyone here has said, it depends on what you want, to each his own, etc. But here are some ways friends on this site have helped me: - I do not have many "real life" friends who I'm comfortable discussing weight loss with. It is really nice to have people who I can talk to about what I'm going through. -…

Congratulations, you look fantastic! You can see a huge difference, I know how much work that takes. I, too, am anxiously awaiting the day I am considered "overweight" instead of "obese"...sounds like you have a great attitude and your hard work is paying off.

Haha, yeah, the Gloria Steinem thing...yeah. A lot to unpack there.

I've had a similar issue--was finding myself having a bunch of 1000 calorie days and was mystified. Here's what helped me a little: - Planning ahead--some people here really like prelogging. I haven't gotten that far, but having some food in mind that you'll eat the next day can help (especially if you're the kind of…

Not sure if this will fit your macros but one of my favorite things is to cook chicken (any part) in a little barbecue sauce and beer, low heat, long time. You want to get it to the point where you can shred it with a fork. Great with rice!

So glad to see that something is helping! I've been having a lot of breathing issues because of anxiety, as well as problems swallowing and with circulation. That's one of the worst things about GAD--you're so focused on your body and every little thing that happens makes you think you're really sick. And then of course,…

There's an ED recovery app called "recovery record" that helped me a lot. You log what you eat, how you feel when you're eating it, where you were, who you were with, etc, and it helps identify patterns. I was never anorexic, but it helped me with my compulsive binging--you can see what triggers it.

Therapy has been very helpful for me. I struggle with a lot of depression and anxiety, which is sort of a vicious cycle of weight problems (felt sad, so I overate, so I gained weight, so I felt worse, so I...). I'm dealing with a lot of feelings about being overweight, but ALSO I'm dealing with a lot of feelings that come…

YES--the amount of shame I've felt about my weight gain is staggering. Not only am I trying to eat healthy, but I'm embarrassed to explain to my friends why I don't want one of the cookies they brought, while ALSO embarrassed if someone sees me eating something unhealthy. I feel like I filter every experience I have…

My sister's cat! His name is Bruce because of his bat-like ears... Good advice--I am definitely measuring and taking progress pics. For me personally, I've learned that it's important to have the scale. I went years without weighing myself, got out of the habit of checking in with my body, and when I finally got weighed at…
