  • Just started biking to work this morning actually. It is 15.5 miles one way and I hope to get in around 350 miles this month. I have a couple of trips planned with work so I will be on travel several times this month so I have limited days to commute.
  • Get back into Triathlons, Spend Less and Invest More, Eat healthier, Learn Spanish, Either visit Ecuador in late 2015 or the spring of 2016, write more, and try to keep my office clean.
  • volleypc on Nikeplus.
  • There's some good information about running heart rate vs cycling heart rate. One good source is http://www.slowtwitch.com/mainheadings/coachcorn/cyclingrate.html The two paragraphs below are from the article. ...What I hope to impart is that it isn't set in stone that your heart rates must be 10 or 15 beats lower while on…
  • You don't have to go it alone. I am sure you have friends that care and that would love to workout, run, etc with you. If not you will meet new friends at the gym. I don't workout to look a certain way, I workout because I enjoy the way it makes me feel , I enjoy the extra energy level, I enjoy the way my mind is sharper…
  • At our health club I think the men outnumber the women in the yoga class. Probably 2 out of every 3 people in the class are men.

  • Have you heard of the Fire Engine 2 Diet? Look it up on Amazon... its a great book. In the past I would start working out and then start the trend of eating healthier. I think I have finally realized that I was doing it backwards. If I focus on eating healthier it seems to make me want to do more, be active, workout, go…
  • volleypc Love to have you all as friends. Thanks
  • I am on there as well. Used to use this all the time and just getting back to it. I am volleypc Thanks.
  • 31:54 for your first 5k. Thats pretty sweet. Congrads. Do you keep a running journal? It is nice to look back over the years to see how you did in your races. If you are like me you will find you end up doing the sames races every year. Congrads again.
  • I did the southern half of the Appalachian Trail through the Smokies.. roughly 35 miles and the Art Loeb Trail.. roughly another 35 miles back in October. I am looking for a trip to maybe do over New Years.. I like the idea of spending new years backpacking camping.. not really sure where I want to go yet. Maybe Sipsey…
  • I am going to have to disagree with alot of what has been said on here. When I say I want someone that takes care of their body I mean just that.. someone that doesn't smoke, someone that doesn't do drugs, someone that get in some aerobic activity. Everything I eat isnt healthy and I don't expect everything they eat to be…

  • Could not find a June 20th.. Awwe....
  • Min / 100.. Take your time (minutes) multiply by 100 and divide by distance.
  • How is it going so far? A friend of mine started the Engine 2 Diet last week and I ran into him yesterday. He said he lost 8 lbs which surprised me. I have been eating crazy so I wasn't expecting to have any weight loss. I jumped on the scales yesterday afternoon and I was down 5 lbs. I normally weight in the mornings so I…
  • You have plenty of time. I would do a warrior dash in between, but you will be amazed at what you can do in 50 weeks once you make the commitment. I think it is a great goal actually.
  • I enjoy jumping rope but let's be honest here.. better than any other workout?? Let's do the math. 10 min jog at 10 min/mi pace = 168 calories. 10 min jumping rope at moderate pace = 168 calories 10 min jog at 7 min/mi pace = 235 calories. 10 min jumping rope at fast pace = 201 calories. You can argue that fast pace may be…
  • Gym.. and run/walk outside.. doesn't cost you anything. At the gym you have weights, clases etc. I love to swim.. 4-5 times a week, but you have less options with it.
  • I just read Thrive and Eat & Run and decided to give the Engine 2 Diet a run. This is going to be particularly hard for me because I have very few meals without meat. I start on Monday. The one thing that I came away with after reading these books is that is seems to reduce the recovery time between workouts which is a…
  • X2 - I can't tell you much about any of my friends on MFP. I can't tell you if they are married, what they do, what they like, etc.. but I do know that several help hold me accountable... I don't really care much about weight, I am more interested in fitness, how I feel, and getting my workouts in. These friends know I…
  • Safe (However I believe the real word here is smart). There are too few barriors to entry now in photography.
  • Very nice... I have to warn you though.. tri's are addicting. I hope you had a great experience.
  • I am going to do the one in TN next April. I may sign up for the gulf coast one as well. A couple of friends from work have recently started working out and doing 5ks, etc. I have talked them into doing a warrior dash event this fall. They may hate me for it, but it does make working out more fun and has gotten several…
  • Camper here... every chance I get. I prefer the hammock to the tent. Have a trip planned to the Blue Ridge in Aug and a trip to the Art Loeb trail in Oct.
