My dad always made steel cut oats in a thermos over night by pouring boilng water over the oats, battening down the lid and letting it stew for 5-6 hours....I just googled "cook steel cut oat thermos" and there are several sites with instructions.

Well, this morning around eightish for breakfast I had a piece of Killer Dave"s Good Seed whole wheat toast spread with peanut butter and topped with half a cup of fresh raspberries. Shiratake noodles---zero calories--really! Use the MFP search function there are several threads that talk about them and give recipes. They are more like raman noodles than they are like spaghetti. I like the ones that have soy added to them---they have 20 calories per serving which is mostly protein.

I think people start to notice when you lose about 10%-15% of the extra pounds. Before that they may compliment you on your "new" hairstyle or outfit but probably won't attribute your look to weightloss.

My favorite cold day soup is one cup of low sodium V8 juice with a teaspoon of olive oil added. It warms the insides and the olive oil mellows the flavors and gives a little staying power....just 90 calories.
