I pay 550 euros a month for my 6 month old, I am a teacher and live in Brussels. Mind, my pay is 1400 a month in euros, so it is a HUGE chunk of my wage just for day care!

I am from the states and moved to Zurich after finishing UNI, then to London, then to Geneva, then to Australia and now in Belgium for the past three years. Belgium is still proving the most difficult to settle in, I don't love it here much, and am looking forward to another move!

Just got even slower than you think you need to! That is my advice! Slow and steady will serve you best!

I was in the same boat as you post baby. I am nearly 6 months pp and when I was cleared at 7 weeks I jumped back into running. I did intervals the first day, then the next run I just went as long as possible, like you. Third run, same thing, and then my knees killed!! It lasted 2 weeks, with no running....so I thought…

I got back into running a few years ago and it took a while for me to enjoy it. Really, every run is different. What helped me was buying some gear I really liked. I love my Garmin and it helps my competitive side. I went from 200+ pounds and not even able to run a minute to running a half in 1:43. And I LOVED the…

I was like clockwork, too...and last year in July I should have had my period on the 4th.....I didn't get a positive test until the 25th! Even then it was very faint. My doctor reckons that I ovulated late and that is how I got pregnant. I have a lovely little one now :) I had similar symptoms as you, and I was on holiday…

Thanks! Sounds good and colourful too!

I left the US after undergrad to work as a Nanny in Zurich. I was supposed to go back after a year and go to law school.....that was 2003. I've never gone back, but since then I've lived a few years in Geneva, did a masters in England, lived in Australia, Ireland and now have been in Belgium for 2.5 years. I can't imagine…

It is just me and my husband and we spend 100-150 a euros on groceries to eat healthy. It i so expensive, and we can barely handle that much, but it is important.

When I go running MFP really over estimates the calorie burn compared to my GPS watch plus HRM. Sometimes by 200 plus calories. I'd get a HRM and take the MFP numbers with a large grain of salt. Or just make sure to never eat back more than one third of your calories burned!

I'm the fast girl your mother warned you about!

Fair enough, it is usually Americans and other North Americans who get up tight about nudity. I suppose the British as well, and maybe Australia can be included in that. Just based upon my gym experiences in various countries!

Love the super American reaction to nudity! Try being an American in any gym in Europe! You're the odd one out if you have a towel around you in the locker room, sauna or steam room. Always naked except when working out!

Of course you can do a half this year! I have a plan for a half that gets me ready in 10 weeks. It only mandates three runs a week....one is never longer than 30 minutes, this is your speed work. The second starts at 45 minutes and tops out at an hour. The third starts at 50 minutes and then tops out at full distance, or…

Me!! I am going to Thailand for three weeks this summer....I want to feel good living in my bikini!

Working full time, 8 hours of language class on top of that....and heaps of work to do outside of work. I'm a first year teacher. I just make it a priority to run the three days a week I don't have class, right after I finish work. Then shower, and then do my additional work in the evening.

Thanks, all! I have cycled before in snow....and it is just not that safe. Add to that that it is -12 this morning and I cancelled the english lessons I was going to give. They can wait until next Saturday and hopefully better weather, or at least clearer roads! Instead, I'll strap on the running shoes!

I'm from Boston, but home is currently Brussels, Belgium!
