I'm assuming the objection is to the first line, "since your question was well answered above".

There is not one special food you can eat that is going to help you. Anything you're reading or hearing to the contrary is not a good source of information. What's most important right now, today is what you don't eat--don't eat too many calories and don't eat more carbohydrate than you can tolerate. Increasing your…

High sugar fruit is better than candy, juice and baked goods but that doesn't make them a good choice in this instance, just less bad. That she doesn't even like grapefruit makes them a terrible choice. OTOH, berries and nuts are good choices--that she might actually like them makes them even better.

For the sake of your long term success I think you should track your calories and weigh yourself daily for a couple of months until you can see the connection between what you eat and what you weigh. Be accurate, be diligent and you'll have invaluable insight you can apply to any way of eating you like. Calories always…

"Blood fatty acid biomarkers of de novo liver fat synthesis - e.g., driven by refined starch, sugar - linked to higher all-cause mortality. Turning on excess liver fat production may be the earliest common path of insulin resistance and diabetes." --Dariush Mozaffarian Re: Serial Plasma Phospholipid Fatty Acids in the De…

The role of long chain fatty acids in regulating food intake and cholecystokinin release in humans RESULTS Intraduodenal fat perfusion significantly (p<0.05) reduced calorie intake. Inhibition of fat hydrolysis abolished this effect. Only long chain fatty acids significantly (p<0.05) decreased calorie intake, whereas…

The challenge of keeping it off, a descriptive systematic review of high‐quality, follow‐up studies of obesity treatments This review concludes that the majority of high‐quality follow‐up treatment studies of individuals with obesity are not successful in maintaining weight loss over time. The results suggest that excess…

Keeping Your Blood Sugar In Check Could Lower Your Alzheimer's Risk "There's many reasons to get [blood sugar] under control," says David Holtzman, chairman of neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. "But this is certainly one." Holtzman moderated a panel Sunday at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in Chicago…

You can't go wrong with meat and vegetables - the combinations are almost limitless. And vegetables are great substitutes for higher carb starches and grains and can carry any of your favorite flavors. Broccoli goes well with cheese sauces, cabbage works well with tomato sauces and cauliflower is pretty neutral. Green…

Do you remember any of the good advice you were given from your last thread? You're still focusing on things that don't matter. If you can, I think an appointment with your doctor or a dietician would be beneficial.

Many of our devout beliefs about nutrition are getting totally debunked Heather Tirado Gilligan, Slate Nutritionist Marion Nestle and other progressive reformers called foul, denouncing the change. “Really?” Nestle scoffed. “I have a hard time believing that WIC recipients are suffering from lack of potatoes in their…

When I count calories all I want to eat is more calories - it's impossible for me to maintain long term. I find it much easier to restrict foods that don't satiate and eat as much as I like of the foods that do satisfy. That's a low carb diet for me.

Eat Less Red Meat, Scientists Said. Now Some Believe That Was Bad Advice. On Monday, in a remarkable turnabout, an international collaboration of researchers produced a series of analyses concluding that the advice, a bedrock of almost all dietary guidelines, is not backed by good scientific evidence. NY Times Unprocessed…

Should dietary guidelines recommend low red meat intake? Frédéric Leroy & Nathan Cofnas The bald claim that red meat is an “unhealthy food” (Willett et al., 2019) is wildly unsupported. Source

A clever way one poster used to handle variable calorie dinners was to always log their dinner on the next day. That way they knew exactly how many calories they had for breakfast and lunch and didn't have stress about having a larger or smaller dinner than usual. I have full control of my meals so for me I'd just pre log…

If I get carb cravings it means I'm not eating enough calories. I usually eat two large meals a day and can't easily make those meals bigger so I add a large, 300-400 calorie snack to my day and that does the trick.

Hi lillypade. The protein goal you have is low for someone dieting, your age and not sedentary, IMO. 90g-120g (1.5g/kg - 2g/kg) of protein would be a better protein goal for you -- more if you like. After that, the rest is up to you and your preferences. As long as you keep your carbs under around the 50g mark you'll be…

As someone who eats low carb I didn't think that article was aimed at me at all -- it read like generic, sound advice. "Occasionally say no to carbs (aka junk food as described in the article)... I want you to eat carbs... just don't overeat." was my take away. That sounded perfectly reasonable to me when I read it the…

Wow. That's a shocker -- I knew he sold Eat Stop Eat on his site in a click bait-y way -- but that wasn't anything like "obesity toxins" that are cured by drinking a couple of glasses of orange juice a day. He's jumped the shark from trying to make a buck to outright scamming people.

Just because it's common doesn't mean it's a normal, healthy response to eating. It isn't. The OP has PCOS and this shouldn't be brushed off as just something that happens, in my opinion.

If you're happy with your meals and don't want to change them a brisk walk can help (it doesn't have to be long 10-20 minutes should do). But ideally you'd want to do both -- have a little less rice (carbohydrate) and take that walk. Have your doctors talked to you about insulin resistance? If they haven't you should ask…

Unless you have an eating disorder it really is ok - you honestly will get hungry. If you feel you can't trust your appetite other signs of under eating (besides the obvious of losing too much weight too quickly) is feeling unreasonably cold, carb cravings and low energy. I'd trust the process and see how you make out. Or…

They honestly believe it's healthier and want the best for their kids. I made a post here a few months ago that said, "Meat and eggs are both healthful and more nutritious than bread. If you enjoy them eat them -- they're good for you." That racked up 5 or 6 woos I think. Another poster was replacing eggs with Just Egg…

More plant based news... this is becoming a running theme but I'm happy to see it. People need to be aware that most of what they're reading about plant based food is marketing. I'm sure it's sales related -- if it wasn't they would have pulled them Ontario and British Columbia as well. The demand might be less in the rest of the country because of a demographic thing (more rural communities less inclined to jump on the plant based bandwagon) or maybe it's a price thing? Either or right now it…
