  • Good for you! I can no longer complain about having to lose 40 lbs! I'm impressed with your success and would love to have you as a friend. I enjoy adding people who have walked down a road that I need to walk down and need to add new people to my MFP friends as some have taken a break. I want to inspire, encourage and…
  • Sorry, I should have quoted you as my last reply was for you.
  • Wow! I'm impressed. I'd love to look at your diary for ideas (so i hope you friend me). I've given up pork and beef a while ago, but still eat chicken, turkey and fish. I'm leaning more towards less of these and more plant based foods, so any ideas will help.
  • I just tried Morning Star Chipotle Black Bean Burgers and they are yummy! I cook them in the toaster oven and and pleasantly surprised at the taste. I wouldn't want to eat them more than 1x per week, because I'd probably get tired of them.
  • What is TDEE - 20%?? thanks!
  • Hi there, Similar to you, I don't have 100's of lbs to lose, but 30-40 wouldn't hurt. On 5/3, I'll turn 53 and want to be my healthiest! I have 3 children (ages 32-16) and 1 grandson and am pretty active. In the past, I would have said I want to lose this weight RIGHT NOW and be done with it. Now I realize that this is a…
  • Great response! Love that "we GROW people. From scratch."
  • Hi there; I'm 51 and understand what you mean. You can add me as a friend if you like. I find that visiting the site and "talking" with friends daily are good sources of encouragement. When I see others logging faithfully, recording exercises, it does motivate me to do the same! Your weight loss thus far is remarkable -…
  • Funny you should write about this. I weighed myself yesterday morning and had a grapefruit yesterday afternoon. This morning I got on the scale and was one lb lighter! I really couldn't understand why, but I guess this grapefruit theory is something to check out! I love grapefruit anyway, so I'm going to "experiment" with…
  • At the risk of sounding ignorant - what does "bump" mean??? Thanks
  • Good idea to weigh daily but only track on Friday. I think I'll incorporate that myself. I do realize that if I eat too much sodium (popcorn, prepared foods, canned soup), then I can expect the weight to go up. I typically weight in on Fridays, but think I'll see how it feels to get on the scale daily. I agree that a…
  • Congrats to you! At 51 (almost 52!!), I can say that losing weight in my 40's was a bit easier. Now with hormonal changes and such, it seems to take more effort - nevertheless I'll get it done this time for sure and plan to keep it off forever!! I have learned that in order to keep the weight off, I have to continue doing…
  • I don't have too many, but add a few after reading posts. I too feel that many great ideas can be learned. I especially like the one above about scanning diaries and getting new ideas! I hadn't thought about that - I'll start though!
  • LOL! too funny!
  • I know how you feel! sometimes, we do everything we know to do and the scale doesn't reward us. Personally, I only get on scale 1-2 x per week. If I eat something salty the night before, it would make the numbers go up. another thing to consider is the calories - are you eating enough for your height/weight? If not, your…
  • It's been said that we are our worse critics! You look great and should kiss yourself. Next time you're in a store, pick up a 10 lb bag of potatoes and carry it in your arms for a while. It will help put things in focus for you! Congrats!
  • Funny about the boss asking why you were out of breath!! I wonder what he or she thought? I work at a storage facility and take power walks throughout the units. Quite boring, but it's nice to get up and move. 2x around = a 15 minute power walk. I can always us the excuse that I'm checking out the units.
  • Peanut butter (I prefer crunchy) on flat round bread (multigrain) with a smidgen of honey along with an apple helps me. I also try to keep almonds on hand. This will help to hold you over till dinner hopefully.
  • I'd really rather chew my calories than to drink them. So far with few exceptions, I only drink coffee w/2 tbs creamer in the morning. Other than that, its plain old water!
  • 1. A palm-ful of almonds with an apple 2. Boil and peel a few eggs. Store them in baggies in the fridge for a couple of days. Grab and go! 3. PB&J (or PB and a bit of honey) on the flat round bread! 4. Some deli turkey wrapped in a slice of cheese. Hope this helps
  • The book sounds good and worthy of reading. I am still in the pre-menopause stage and I think weight loss does get more difficult. I'm working out more and eating less and it is helping!
  • recipe sounds great! I'll try it soon and let you know. Thx for sharing!
  • Awe, such mean friends. Surgery went well, I assume? BTW - if you are a soldier - thanks for serving. If not - you look nice in a uniform!
  • awe, mean friends! Looks like surgery went well. Are you are soldier? If so - thanks so much for serving our country. if not - you look nice in the uniform anyway! whoops this reply was for zipperhead!
  • Yep, old cotton undies for sure. If folks see my panty lines when I'm working out, oh well.
  • Welcome to MFP! I'm fairly new also - seriously logging for about 2 weeks now. I tend to log as I go which may not be the best idea. I like your idea of logging in advance; it may help me stay on target. One of my favorite night time snacks is the dark chocolate dove candies. I can take 1 and break it up in 2-3 pieces and…
  • Great advice regarding avocados. I just began eating them this year and love the smooth, creamy texture. I too, was looking for ways to add them to my diet! Thanks for great tips!
  • Wow! you do look amazing! Very inspiring! I've got about 30lbs to lose and pray that when I lose it, I'll keep it off forever!
