You are more than likely going to stick to it and actually lose the weight in the long run on 1700 per day. I would go with that and then eat back a few exercise calories if you are hungry. 1200 to 1300 is not sustainable long term and leaves most people tired, hungry and angry. My husband and I are fit and healthy together. We have a blast in our own bedroom. We enjoy each others bodies....very much. I could see how it would be intimidating to someone that had no desire to get in shape and their partner did, because my self esteem when I was heavy was super low.
