Trail runner from Georgia here who has encountered many snakes. My last run was a king snake and copperhead. Most snakes in the southeast are going to try a to get away from you when they sense you coming. Striking is the last resort in their defense systems (unless you are dealing with a cottonmouth). Stay on the trail,…

I'm back for another month. Going for 50 miles. Due to work, this month is going to be challenging. It is going to be fun trying to be creative to make sure I meet my goal. Going to make a plan...

5/30- 6.0m Trail, making my total for the month 60.2 miles. (I know I will not be able to fun tomorrow.) My goal for May was 45m. I typically just go out to run for fun and to shut my mind down, so I didn't know what I could do if I attempted to actually apply myself. This was the first time I set a goal with the intention…

5/21- 4.5 m trail 5/22- 3.5 m trail total 54.2 m. I think I am going to try to hit 70 m. for the month.

@LoneWolfRunner That's awesome! Congrats! Today we did an out and back trail to a bouldering field on a lake. We went out, climbed for a while, and then had fun jumping off the massive boulders into the lake. 5/16- 1.5 M Trails. Goal achieved, so now I am curious how many miles I can do in a month. Never thought I could do…

5/15- 5.1m trail, .3 of a mile left. How did I not catch this when I was out there?! Oh well. I will have it tomorrow!
-
5/14- 3.1 trail, 5.4 to go! Going to hopefully finish it today.

@WhatMeRunning Thanks! I picked up a heart rate monitor that helps me identify my zones and have been studying the mechanics of it recently, so your advice encourages me that I am on the right path. Today was better, but I am still trying to figure out hills. :) 5/12- 4.2 Miles, 8.5 to go.

5/11- 2.4 Trail, 12.7 to go. The Georgia heat came out in full blast. Had a new experience today. I am new to long runs and trying to increase my distance. Saturday I did my long run, had a rest day Sunday, and today when I started running, my legs did not want to work. The entire time I was working just to put one step in…

Today was a beautiful day to be outside! 5/9-10.1m Trail, 15.1 to go.

5/7- 4.7m trail, 25.2 to go

5/5- 4.2m Trail 15.1 Total, 29.9 to go. For the first time I ran 25 minutes without stopping, regardless of the hills!

My goal is 45 miles. Have 8.5m on 5/1 and 2.3m on 5/2. I run on trails and currently working on increasing my distance and speed. I'm slow!

The last couple of pounds can be the hardest and the ones that take the most patience and work. You can do it!

Same story here with exercise, food and weight. From what I can figure (please note, I am just a researcher and card carrying moron, not a trainer or nutritionist) is when we exercise more or to a higher intensity our muscles are breaking down and rebuilding. As they do this, they store water to help the process of…

It may not be the answer you are looking for but you do not necessarily need a pre-set un-personalized food schedule. Thinking ahead and planning will go a long way in helping. Sit down and think about the next coming week. What days do you know you are going to have to be rushed or need to eat on the go, will be going out…

I checked one thing off last week- drove a race car at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. My list is too long to write and constantly being edited and things checked off. Some things on there were unintentional (like being in a central american country during a military coup. :) ) My big two are I really want to firewalk before I…

I read your question and thought it over during my run today because for some reason, your challenge stayed with me. You are going to find many people who will tell you to count calories ect, instead of drawing your line at WW & JC, like it seems you have done. Not saying that it is not the same for you (disclaimer :) ),…

Hey Froggy- The first step is always the hardest! Don't give up, remind yourself it took a bit for the weight to come on, so it is going to take time to get rid of it. Most importantly, log all of your food and make yourself to exercise. It may take a couple of days, but soon you will be proud of yourself for getting over…

You may want to consider breaking your goals down further. What goals can you set to make your weight loss happen? For example, goals of drinking healthy amounts of water, adding more veggies and fruits into your diet, getting the proper amount of sleep, working out a specific amount of time or burning a set number of…

My arsenal include Natures Gate conditioner, kinky curly knott today leave in conditioner, kinky curly curl custard for hold, sometimes curly girl's curls in a bottle for lazy days, aragan oil or olive oil, joiwhip deep conditioner. Rinses with Apple Cider Vingear are also good every other week. Since I stopped using…

Conditioner has cleansing ingredients in it and can be used like a shampoo. I have long naturally curly hair so understand the challenge and would suggest three things. First and most effective, a few days a week, use a light weight conditioner (like VO5 conditioner) like you would shampoo- you can google the term co-wash…

Done! I found the unidentified segment also. Hope it helps!

I agree with those who say use conditioner. I have wavy/curly hair that easily dries out. Conditioners contain cleansing properties that are found in shampoos without the hair stripping properties. Get a light weight conditioner (I use vo5) and gently use your fingertips to rub it into your scalp really well. It will clean…

I have found questioning others weight loss is not a good thing for me to do because I start comparing myself to others. This puts you on a roller coaster of doubt and frustration. I only have to be better than myself. Also, it is not ultimately about the end result, but about the journey. I want to not only lose the…

I like mine because it gets rid of the guess work. I get done, look at how long I worked and how many calories burn and log it.

You are correct in your observation about adding exercise will add to your calorie number. The process is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Do you have to exercise to lose weight? Not really, but it helps. Remember mfp's system is designed so if you follow the plan, your caloric intake is reduced automatically to a number…
