  • I am going to try for 250 miles in June - probably way too much, but I'll give it a go ..... June 3rd 16 miles June 5th 16 miles ................................................. June total 32/250 - 218 to go!
  • If you can, I would have a go - I am loving it and my route home is much harder too, so I have just taken it steady. I am going for three full round trips this week, which will be the most I have done - half way through that now and feeling positive I can make it. Thanks for all the advice everyone - ironically, the road I…
  • Ooh, can I join in this month? I am going to try for 250 miles in June - probably way too much, but I'll give it a go ..... June 3rd 16miles ............................................. June total 16/250
  • I started with just diet too, as I felt I needed to get food under control and I lost a fair few lbs that way. Once I had started to lose, it encouraged me to exercise, as I knew it would be good for me. I started walking a bit, then swimming before work in the mornings. I bought a bike last year and discovered I really…
  • Thanks  Struggled on the hills going home last night but still got up and did it again this morning, so pretty proud of myself so far ....
  • Wow - I would love to see improvements that quickly - although right now, I am just psyching myself up for the return leg  Thanks again everyone.
  • Cheers  I think it will be a while before I hit the 20 minute mark
  • Well, I did it :) Traffic wasn't too bad, so that was a relief. It seemed a lot harder than Saturday but I was on my own (never cycled alone before) so had no-one to share the discomfort with! I feel great though - very satisfying ....
  • Well, I did a trial run on Saturday and it went ok - far hillier than I thought, but that just means I work harder, I guess .... It turns out to be about 8 miles, with a couple off road, so not too bad at all really - I managed it in 43 minutes, so something to work on there  I'm going to have a go tomorrow morning…
  • Hi Everyone Just spotted this thread and realised I hadn't introduced myself properly, so apologies for that! I got back on a bike last September after 25 years and found that I really enjoyed it, so have been using it as my main exercise since then and try to get out for at least a couple of hours each weekend. I am an…
  • Thanks everyone, some things to consider..... I think I just need to bite the bullet and have a go at it. I'll let you know how I get on
  • Depends where you want to be and whether you want facilities etc, but we have just come back from Willowfield Lake Cottages in Devon and it was great - website is www.sauntonsandscottages.co.uk. If you check out the last review in trip advisor for Willowfield Lake Cottages, it is mine!! Have fun, where ever you go :) Jx
  • I am next door in Dorset  Feel free to add me, Jx
  • I have chocolate every day too - my favourite is a dark choc two finger Kit Kat at 107 cals - I nibble the chocolate off and it takes ages to eat  I find Maltesers are also good to eat slowly but try and only buy the smaller packs, as they are very moreish  Jx
  • I'm in sunny Dorset (everyone knows it is always sunny 'down South' ) Jx
  • Yeah, I guess so - but still seems like a lot of money per month to me - lets just hope it is worth it :)
  • Interesting topic and huge variance in prices! I am looking to join our (only) local gym this week and for two of us we are looking at £63 a month, which I think is dreadful! Unfortunately, rural Dorset does not have much of a selection, so unless we want to travel, we are stick with it. Let's hope it is worth it :) Jx
  • Ooh, I have a wedding to go to at Easter so would love to join in, if there is still space :) Thanks, Jx
  • Great workout. I did 80 minutes in the pool before work this morning :)
  • Ooh - good one :) Starter: Pan Fried Scallops with crispy Pancetta, served with warm bread and butter Main: Prawn Thai Curry with Rice Dessert: Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Mascapone Cream washed down with a couple of bottles of good Sancerre Not that I've given it much thought
  • Hey there - I am in Dorset too, feel free to add me :) Jx
  • Hiya I'm in Dorset - not really a comfort eater (more an ex glutton!) but feel free to add me if you want to :) Jx
  • Hey there, I'm in Dorset too and have been here 6 months or so. I am not massively active on the site, but I do log in everyday to log my food and see what my friends have been up to, so feel free to add me :) Jx
  • I've been here since mid January and lost 47lbs as of today. I have gone from a size 28 to 18/20 and all my biggest clothes are long gone - I am not going back! It has been fairly slow but I am determined to keep going. I have been on lots of 'diets' over the years but this is the longest I have stuck to anything like a…
  • I started with 9 to lose - now a mere 6 to go  You can do it  Feel free to add me. Jx
  • Hi there, just wanted Helen & Kathryn to know they are not alone, so thought I would post here as well  I am 43, 5ft 6in tall. When I started in January, I was 20stone exactly, currently 17stone. Clothes size seems to have gone from 28/30 to 20ish (as you say, depending on what and where!) Hoping to eventually be 11…
  • I have been here since January and I am 42lbs down, 84 to go - feel free to add me  MFP is great!! Jx
  • I am in Sunny (I wish!) Dorset - feel free to add me  Jx
  • Hi there I have been lurking on here since January and have lost 3 stone - I am doing it the slow way  MFP has been a godsend, as logging everyday has really made me think about what I eat and I am still stunned by how many calories can be in seemingly innocent looking food!! I have a long way still to go, but…
