Lentils made in the Instant Pot topped with a couple of eggs (lightly poached in the microwave). Fast and filling and delicious.

But the OP is saying is that for her, one cookie becomes too many cookies and derails her focus on the new way she would like to eat. Having one cookie and not beating yourself up for it is ideal, certainly, but for some, that one cookie means finishing off the entire bag. Not so easy to brush off if it restarts a pattern…

This is soooo true.

Change things up. New recipes are just a Google search away. You could rotate in a couple of new dinners each week.

It seems like you're losing at a healthy pace. If you don't trust the nurse are you able to see a Registered Dietician for a second opinion?

Then we have to think of a way to get you past that two weeks. :) Maybe write yourself a letter, today, listing all the reasons why you're doing what you're doing. Then take that letter out and read it when you feel like you're not in control. I have found that what makes me fall off the wagon is a trigger that seems large…

Ugh. I don't know what to say except hang in there. Trust yourself that you know your own mind and don't let others sway you. I totally get the all-or-nothing. It's very hard to find people who understand that I can't just "have a single square of dark chocolate every day" or "work your treats into your daily plan." Yeah,…

Agreed! My parents are in their 80s and don't understand anything about apps or cell phones and can't order online. So if seniors want to order pizza, too bad? It's poor business. Seniors don't always like to cook or don't feel up to it. It should be easy and convenient for them to order in.

I can either stand or sit and I alternate throughout the day. I love having the option!

I go for lunch walks. If it's too hot or rainy I walk the aisles at nearby big-box stores!

I got myself to enjoy plain Greek yogurt instead of the flavoured variety. It wasn't easy at first but now I'm good with it. :)

How do I deal? If I'm going to have chocolatey goodness it has to a be restaurant dessert, like once a week or something, ideally shared with DH. I can't have it in the house because I'd never have just a little. I'd polish off that Deep & Delicious cake by myself in one sitting, so I just don't give myself the opportunity…

If I don't eat for several hours I get headaches, too. For me it's my body's way of saying it's hungry.
-
Why eat it then if you're dreading it? :)

Another vote for soup. I am enjoying homemade minestrone this week. Packed with veggies and beans. Quick to make and cheap, and I don't have to think about what to bring for lunch for a few days.

sorry, made an error.

OP, keep your chin up. It sucks to be on the receiving end of rudeness and (with some exceptions) this thread is a safe place to vent your hurt. The mean comments people hurl your way say everything about them and nothing about you.

She didn't say anything to the kids or to their mother (about the kids). Why does it matter if she mentions them here?

I spend some time prepping on weekends to ensure I have good, convenient options when I get home. One idea - dice up some mushrooms and onions, chop some spinach, have a little grated cheese on hand - keep all of that in the fridge and you can throw together an omelette in no time in the evening.

Today it's cold quinoa with black beans, corn, and roasted broccoli (last week was the same but with sweet potato instead of broccoli), raw veggies and grapes. It's easy to make on Sunday and portion out for the week.

I have had two burgers and honestly think they taste just like the real thing (maybe because of the condiments and cheese?) Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to order it again.

My RD said the same.

Don't rinse chicken. It contaminates the sink and it's not necessary anyway. :) We cook our whole roasting chickens in the Instant Pot. No oil needed, just seasonings, and it comes out juicy and perfect every time.

I wish carrots satisfied my sweet tooth!

You mention you haven't had a full eye exam. I think they're a good idea every couple of years just for overall eye health and to check for bad things like glaucoma that you can't detect on your own.

I made a roasted sweet potato salad this week and it's delicious https://www.averiecooks.com/?s=sweet+potato+salad

If you find it convenient, go for it. I find I'm always disappointed by most of their products. They're so salty.

When I am eating "well" my grocery bill is higher, too. I try to stock up on things when they're on sale, like frozen veggies I can use when I run out of fresh. Same with lentils. I buy loads of those when the bags are 2-for-1, and they last for a long time.
