  • Er yeah, but that's like saying 1 pound of lead doesn't weigh more than 1 pound of feathers. It's true, but the pound of feathers is going to take up a heck of a lot more space.
  • Probably the Black Palace burger at MeatMarket in Covent Garden, London - you can see a picture here: http://crumpeats.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/meatmarket-covent-garden-london/
  • Thank you for the reply - I have collected quite a bit of sponsorship money so not doing it at all isn't an option, but walking / jogging on and off is. As long as I cross the start and finish lines I will be happy. I've had to abandon all plans of beating last year's time of 1:02:54... :-(
  • Cheers guys - the Nike Pro Combat shorts win so far. The Under Armor ones come up a size shorter for some reason, so I had to return the first pair (frankly amazed and slightly disgusted that they'd let me, but hey ho...) The other thing about the Under Armor ones is that they have a quite prominent seam in a slightly…
  • Tried out the Nike compression shorts last night and they worked a treat - good tip. The Body Armor ones are for tomorrow. On another note, I tried on the Nike shorts and came into the living room where my girlfriend was watching TV, to ask her if she thought I could get away with wearing *just* those. She distractedly…
  • Trust me, I'm already itching to run! But I can tell my body's not really up to it. I'll see how the next few days go...
  • Thanks for confirming that I'm not the only one with this problem! I'm glad I posted this blog here- when I put it on my Facebook and Twitter, my friends all disowned me... But you guys "get it"!
  • Thanks very much everyone- just popped out to my local sports shop and managed to pick up one pair of Nike combat and one pair of Under Armor compression pants/ shorts! Let's see how it goes next time I head out...
  • Ooh, now there's a plan! I think I have some sandbags lying around here...
  • Thanks for the hints guys! I think compression underwear or shorts with regular baggy shorts over the top have to be the way to go. I will head down to my local running shop tomorrow!
  • I don't know how accurate it is, but if you go to add something to your lunch diary and search on Wagamama, you can find some calorie counts for various meals. The Yaki Soba is pretty low-calorie considering how full it makes you!
  • I wish I could cheer you up, but I'm sort of in the same boat... managed to lose 21 lbs over the space of a year, but 5 or 6 had crept back on in the last month, so I thought, right - this week I'll really do it properly. So for the last week I've been religiously sticking to my calorie / fat / sodium limits, and have done…
  • I imagine that if you were somehow able to eat junk food and stay not only within your calorie goals but also within the fat, saturated fat, carbs, and sugar goals, then yeah that would be ok! But I'd be very surprised if you could possibly eat 1200 or 1600 calories a day of 'bad' food and not go over all the other…
  • Alright then, I'll join up for the Southern Softies (despite dropping out halfway through the last one!) I'm 5'9" and currently at 169 lbs which puts me just on the boundary of 'normal' and 'overweight' but I want to lose at least another 9lbs, let's see how we go! My weigh in day will be Friday.
  • Hello everyone... not sure where I want to go with March, in Feb I set myself a goal to get down to a normal BMI, which I achieved... I suppose I'd like to lose 4 more lbs - 1 a week ought to be ok, right?
  • I am doing exactly the same thing - if the scales are in my life I can't stop getting on them daily. So they've gone away, to be got out in a few weeks time when I might actually have lost something again because I'm not worrying about 0.3 lbs here or there!
  • I finally started doing some proper exercise two weeks ago, and since then my weight has been staying fairly constant or even increasing slightly. However, I know I'm losing fat because my clothes are all getting huge. So I decided to chuck the scales in the cupboard for a couple of weeks, it's just far too tempting to…
  • Really liked that blog post about the lying scales... I think I will start measuring myself again to see what the results are. The mirror and comments I've had from other people already tell me that I'm losing probably more than the scales are telling me!
  • Ok, I want to have a "normal" BMI by the end of this month - that means losing about 2.5 lbs, which should be easy! That's my goal.
  • I'm from Ramsgate too! But now living in London...
  • Booooo!!!! Luckily, I already have bigger numbers to bank this week so I reckon we can take them! C'mon Southern Softies!
  • Are you in the UK , Emma? One thing I've noticed is that our packets normally show sodium in grams whereas MFP logs it in mg. So many foods have 0.1mg entered for sodium whereas it actually should be 100mg. That's why it shows up as nothing on your diary1 If you notice anything like that, please correct it!
  • I am rocking it this week for the Southern Softies - 3.5lb since Monday, let's see what happens over the weekend! All of you, please feel free to add me as a friend - I need as much motivation as possible!
  • Any guy who asks to see a full body photo before he'll meet up with you is horribly shallow, in my opinion! If a girl is nice, and she has a pretty face, who cares about anything else?
  • Well, I've added half a pound to the Southern Softies results... every little helps, right!?
  • I would - but I already signed up to the BUPA 10K and I reckon it might do me in trying to run another one!
  • Oooh, can I join please? I'm a Southern Softie...
  • I definitely cheat every so often, but the important things to do are: - Don't give up just because you cheated once - DON'T weigh yourself the day after! It's not exactly an accurate result because all kinds of things could cause a temporarily higher reading. (I won't go into what they all are...) Weigh yourself once a…
  • Gah... I seem to have put a pound back on, or at least I'm carrying that much water after a fairly bad weekend... Oh well. Could be a lot worse! Now to see what two weeks of travel do to my waistline... ;o)
