  • I'm only 43, so I felt really dumb when I realized my husband was right, and I was starting menopause. I still haven't reached my goal weight, and I feel like I am STARVING all of the time now. Has anyone found any tricks, or anything helpful at all? I'm terrified of becoming huge! Thanks
  • Ok, me too. I keep thinking I have a handle on it and then it pops up again. I could use some support as well
  • You might consider getting your body fat tested because you look like you are pretty fit. Don't get hung up on a number on the scale. To get rid of bloat or those last few ponds, low carb never fails.
  • I have struggled with this my whole life, and I recently learned that I may be insulin resistant, which means that when I eat sugar (or any carbohydrate, really), my insulin level gets really high, which eventually drops my blood sugar level sharply. This creates that "craving" feeling. I started New Atkins for a New You,…
  • I still hide food and am having a really hard time stopping. My husband caught me the other day and I felt like I was 9 all over again. Something about the "thrill" of it for me? Or having something "special" all for myself. I would love to hear more replies on how to get over this. Although I guess eating in plain sight…
  • great job! thanks for sharing your success - it definitely helps me
  • stressing over stressing doesn't help either! weight varies from day to day, so don't let it bum you out and put you on the wrong path. it's good to take a few days off from working out too. it sounds like you needed a break, so give it to yourself!

  • Yea you! you are amazing!
  • Thanks for posting your experiences, guys! I've read the book, and felt like it probably would work, but it's nice that someone else is trying it first (you guys)! Let us know if it continues to show such great results.
  • Check out the book, "The 4-hour body". I know it sounds ridiculous, but it is actually very well researched. I don't know anyone who has actually followed the program though, so I don't know if it works. Good luck, and it's never too late!
  • I agree with upping protein, and reducing carbs - especially refined carbs. Also try changing exercise to intervals or HIIT (high intensity interval training). You can google it for tons of tips. Your body adapts to what you are doing so you have to mix it up. Also, I'm sure you know this, but you need to get more sleep!…
  • eating carbs can make you retain quite a bit of water. try keeping carbs under 100g for a few days, and then weigh again - I bet it's not as bad as you think! Stay positive
  • Woot Woot!! Yay you
  • two words: eat protein! The more processed carbs you eat, the more you want to eat. Good luck!

  • I need to get back on track to reach my goal, and would love some support. Count me in
  • I find on days that I'm able to keep my protein over 100g and my carbs under 100g, those cravings GO AWAY! I know it's hard to believe, but try it for a couple of days and see if it works for you. Good luck!
  • Don't wait! Start right now. Continue to log your food, if that's all you can do for now. Also, you MUST let go of beating yourself up, because that is part of the vicious cycle you are trying to stop. Take this time to be extremely compassionate with yourself, and know that you were trying to protect yourself with food -…
  • This thread makes me want a diet pepsi. I haven't found any convincing evidence on either side of the argument, and I know diet soda keeps me from snacking on sweets, so for now... off to 7-11!
  • This happened to me too, but lasted for months. Everybody thought I must be cheating, but I wasn't. Then I went to a nutritionist who said I was eating too many carbs. I shoot for about 100g/day of carbs now, with the same amount of calories, just upping my protein. I have been steadily losing weight again for the last 6…
  • Prunes always do the trick for me
  • That happens to me when I get dehydrated. Maybe try drinking a lot of water before working out, as well as during and after. Also if you are doing floor exercises and holding your head up, it could be that your neck muscles aren't quite strong enough yet. Good luck!
  • I love this thread!!!! And I just want to add: Dear 170s, I am coming for you! 180.000 today (grrrrrrr), and although you have eluded me for years - this is a war that you are not going to win. Your delay tactics are NOT working. I can be very very patient. All I can say is watch your back - this is your last week!
  • Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I do still have about 20 lbs to lose, so maybe I should just keep doing what's working. Glad to know I'm not alone.
  • I'm no expert, but it looks like you are not eating enough calories. AND the calories you are eating are mostly carbs. Try shooting for 100 g of protein per day, and 50 -100 g of carbs, and I bet you see a difference right away. Good luck!
  • I am totally frustrated as well. Micromanaging is not getting me anywhere. I did read a great book that might help you though. It's called Women, Food, and God by Geneen Roth. Don't let the God part scare you off - it's not a "religious" book per se, just helps you to tune in to your own body. Good Luck! Can you post again…
  • I have very bad PMS and have used VITEX for years. It has helped me quite a bit, and I have had no side effects whatsoever. It does seem to take 2-3 months to start seeing the effects though. I'm not sure if it helps for PCOS, but it seems like it would. Good luck!
