  • I want science website references or I aint buyin'
  • As a craft beer lover myself, I highly doubt that continuing to drink your 500 cals a night will have very noticible negative effects. Maybe I'm being naive for the justification of my own beer habits tho. haha I had read that drinking alcohol can harm your recovery, as Sara pointed out with a similar article a few posts…
  • Def trying this. Always looking for new ways to use my chia seeds
  • I'm kind of in the same boat as you so I'm tagging this post for some suggestions too. I recently up'd my protein, and I dont think I've hit my new goal yet. I realized that I dont eat very much meat for an omnivore so I'm trying to put some poultry or seafood in every meal. SS's suggestion of adding whey to food is great.…
  • Great job man! You are heading in right direction and fast! Kudos to you and all folks on here lending a helping hand to your success. You're hard work is inspiring.
  • Correct, the formula in the INSANITY book gives you the total calories, including after exercise. You would not eat back your exercise cals as MFP recommended setting suggests. The INSANITY program also says you should eat like 5 or 6 small 300 calorie meals a day or whatever. You do not need to do that. Some of the…
  • Nice work. Great improvement on the fit test too!
  • Looks like I'm taking a few days off. I pulled or strained my left gluteal muscle and it is a very sharp pain, even when walking. I noticed it being a little sore and cramped after the 3rd day, and I should have listened to my body. Now I'm going to be resting for several days to ensure it heals. Crud. I really hate that…
  • I also have a breakfast recipe I really like. -Slice up a sweet onion and set the rings in a pan. -whip up some egg as if making scrambled -fill the onion rings with the egg -spinkle on some cheese, cilantro -cook thoroughly -plate and top with avocado chunks and hot sauce and/or pico de gallo. -yum

  • I LOVE avocado and will put it on sandwiches and burgers instead of mayo. I think it really compliments turkey sandwiches the best. Or if on a burger, try it with a black bean salsa on top too. Fiesta! SOOOO good that way. It's also great just sliced up and thrown on top a salad. And of course guac.

  • I lost all my weight eating whatever....just less of it and exercising. Now that I've lost the weight I have certainly picked up better habits when choosing my food and fitting into my diet. Eating fruits and vegetables vs. chips and burgers doesnt make you lose weight, but I sure feel better when I do. I very rarely get…
  • Thanks. All good points
  • haha. I was lifting heavy and definitely saw progress. I get tired of doing to same things over and over. I lifted heavy for about 5 months and noticed myself getting bored, so I switched to lifting in more of a circuit style for the last few months. Less weight/less rest/more reps. Some different lifts I was doing, but…
  • Thanks for this. I never did this before and was just about to do some googling.
  • Yes, this is true. When doing deads the bar is raised a few inches, so I do see your point. I'm gonna go ahead and make the change. I guess the in theory, the machine I'm currently using isnt really hurting me, but it's also not really helping as much as it could be. Thanks
  • Cheat days, or using food as a way to get to the gym does work for some people tho. I find it to not be an enjoyable way of life for me personally.
  • My gym membership ran out and I was looking at joining another. In the meantime, my girlfriend and I just started INSANITY on the 15th as well. It's kicking my *kitten*. haha
  • Ya, actually, I "treat" myself on the daily too. Poor choice of word on my part. I wasnt implying food should be a reward. I think it's just as important to enjoy the foods you love that may not necessarily have any nutritional value....just have to keep it to an acceptable amount for your diet and goals.
  • ^^^^ True.
  • This all great info. Thanks for the read, everyone who posted solid advice! I have one of those dual axis smith machines at my gym and tend to use that for deadlifts and squats and certain press variations. I know it's far superior to a reg smith machine since it moves front to back as well, but perhaps I'll move to power…
  • Aside from eating well, I have no advice. I've read and watched documentaries of some really severe ailments being healed by being on really vitamin rich diets. Like REEEALLY rich. Maybe look into Medical Nutrition Therapy. Its quite fascinating. (sure beats being on medication forever) Other than that, I am completely…
  • Not sure if this is directed to my original post or not. If it is, I'm sorry to have sparked yet another Clean eating debate. Not my intentions. I was merely trying to state that I think sometimes people get caught up on weight loss and strict diets...and only eating a certain way. Certainly find what works best for you. I…
  • Thanks for the post. I certainly wouldnt call myself a guru, but I have learned a lot. I recently got into fitness and health about 2 years ago and have tried to educate myself as much as posible. Through trial and error as you said :) I do try and take it seriously and am always looking to learn something new.…
  • hahah Touche... love the meme. edit: We're adults, we know carrots are better for you than tv dinners. How's that?
  • Thank you for your feedback. I couldnt agree more. Sorry if it was unclear in my post.....I dont follow the whole Clean eating thing. Just addressing the issues that people seem to get hung up on with it. I find the plan to be flawed in some aspects, but it does offer some good theory. The links i put in the original post…
  • haha ya....there isnt a true def that ive found. It's just a craze that will pass.
  • Well aren't you great! Although I would like to point out to you the irony of preaching to people while treating food "like medicine" instead of treating it like it is, which is a source of energy. Also, usually in nutritional context, the terms "Dirty" and "Clean" refers to the amount of calories you intake so your…
  • Hmmm........ So you understand the science of calories in versus calories out. Yet, you state your belief that "processed and preservative laden foods" have some type of long term negative effect on the body and increase the odds of other health risks? Where is your science to back that statement up? [/quote] I…
  • Not what I was trying to do. I agree....it is ridiculous. I was just seeing a lot of Clean eating threads arguing about how the diet helped them lose 50 lbs, etc. Really it was just eating less. Eating Clean is a marketing gimmick, just like primal or adkins or whatever. My point is the reason for eating better foods…
  • I would say to just stick to body pump or some other type of lifting. It will eventually go away if you keep your diet right and strength train. Also, I'm assuming Body Pump is a class that you go to maybe once or twice a week? Do you do any strength training the other days? I would def suggest lifting 4-5 days a week to…
