  • Congratulations on sticking with it, and for your terrific accomplishment! You look amazing - and you are such an inspiration!!
  • What a wonderful and inspiring job you have done - are doing! You must be very proud, especially when you look at your pictures! There was a whole new beautiful woman in there, and you are letting her flower, and the natural beauty shows through even more! Yay you!
  • Thank you for sharing your wonderful and inspiring story; it was just what I needed to read first thing this morning, to get me back on track! You are really amazing! I love your before and after pictures!! I am so happy for you, and congratulate you a thousand times over for having the determination to stick with your…
  • I have very eclectic tastes in food as in most things, but I often eat some of the same foods for breakfast and lunch, although I do rotate them. I like to make a healthy casserole for a breakfast dish, and eat it most of the week, and I sometimes do that for dinner or lunch, but don't eat it as often unless I am really…
  • Thanks, but I admit that's a studio pic, although very recent. They can make a warthog look good! I need to get a current snapshot; all the ones I have are too old; that will not look so great, as I'm very un-photogenic!

  • I'm 72, and still hangin' in. Feel free to add me as a friend, if you'd like. This WORKS - unlike diets!

  • You look AMAZING! What a wonderful accomplishment; keep up the good work!
  • Those sounds like really good suggestions, slimnicola01! I'm going to give that a try too; evenings are my worst time to "nibble".

  • Hi Beth, Although I'm retired now, I can relate to your time/stress issues. I worked a high-stress long-day job (I'm an RN), and had the same issues. At one point, I was getting up at 4AM to go to the gym (really near my house, luckily) before work, which I thought was going to kill me at first - until I started feeling…

  • I make this in a deep-dish pie/souffle dish sprayed with Pam), and call it Pumpkin Souffle. (I beat the eggs together first, then add Splenda & spices, so it puffs up like a souffle). Then I make a topping of nonfat Greek yogurt with Splenda and cinnamon. Yum! Good for breakfast as well as dessert!
  • There are other factors that play into the equation too. For instance, I am 71 years old, and after losing an inch and a half am now 5'. Up until I was about 40, I ate whatever the heck I wanted, and never gained an ounce - was always on the skinny side. But now, I've lost height due to age, arthritis, and spinal fusion,…
  • Congratulations on your success! You look great, and I'm sure feel stronger and more vibrant than ever. And what a nice gesture your "give it forward" idea is! (Please don't enter me in the drawing; I just wanted to add mine to all the other congratulations!)
  • I input all the ingredients and their calorie and nutrient amounts, then divide the completed recipe by volume (i.e., cups, TBSP. etc.) rather than weight. I think that makes determining your servings a little easier - especially since not everyone has a nice digital food scale, like I do.
  • What a wonderful and inspiring story! Congratulations to you - for ALL of your accomplishments! You are the definition of a "winner", and I have absolutely no doubt that you will reach your goal! Enjoy that chocolate (and remember that it is good for your heart, in more ways than one!).:flowerforyou: (And a fond [and…
  • I think I would have logged it pretty much the same way - maybe subtracting a little bit from the total. It depends on how vigorously you go about your chores, I think. Also your current weight; the heavier you are, the more you burn. ; ) I use a FitBit for measuring my activity - every step, every flight of stairs/hill,…
  • I share the same problem - emotional eating - and it really can sap your motivation. I've also battled depression (and anxiety) most of my life (and I'm 71), and try as I might, cannot completely rid myself of my meds. (Also had ECT years ago; not fun!) I have found that the ONLY thing that will get me out of that funk is…
  • When you take in too few calories, you body goes into "starvation mode", and tries to conserve as much fat as possible. Sound like you need toning; you are NOT overweight! I would suggest a better breakfast - more protein especially and definitely some good fat.

  • Nope, not the only one! Just recently started using MFP again, and I'm on the darn computer all the time. It will probably wear then, but I just hope I can maintain enough interest to stay on track. Last time I didn't have any "friends" - I tend to be a bit of a loner - but now Sheila friended me, and I've decided that the…
  • Another TERRIFIC book I can recommend is "The End of Overeating", by David Kessler, MD, former commissioner of the FDA. It explains the science of human appetite, and delves into how we are exploited by the food industry and the advertising industry. Doesn't recommend any particular diet, but will really open your eyes…
