It's good to have goals! One of my goals is simply monitoring. I had no clue how many calories I was eating on a day to day basis, chiefly because I have always had a job that involved lots of walking, lifting, etc; so I could eat lots and never notice it. But now that I have a desk job, I need to keep track of those…

Also, the way I understand it, if you've been doing strength exercises you need nutrients to help build muscle tissue (proteins, I think). Bit weird that MFP doesn't count calories for strength exercises, though.

Welcome and good luck! Feel free to add me. By the way, if you have a smartphone I highly recommend downloading and using the app. It makes tracking your food an exercise so much easier, especially if you're as forgetful as I am :ohwell:

Thanks for the kind words and the support! I take it you love cycling ;) I've been planning to get my old racer bike out from storage and start some touring when the weather gets better. I used to love making 30-40 mile treks.
