I was vegetarian (didn't even eat fish) for 15 years from age 18 to 33 but now i like my steaks rare! Don't feel bad about it - enjoy it - you already feel better for it! People always asked what tempted me back but it wasn't any food in particular - i just got fed up - bored of having limited choice and being the odd one…

The counter on our exercise bike gives me more calories than my HRM so I go with the HRM figure; they're not very accurate in my experience I'm afraid x

You look fab and it's a good point about people you meet now not having known the "fat you". I'm going to remember than when I meet new people, including when we recruit at work etc..so thanks for that! I'm 5'6" so a bit shorter than you and started out at 217lbs last November. I'm now 194lbs and feeling great! Still a…

You could get a skipping/jump rope if you can find room to use it; that burns loads of calories!

Yes I bank all the time! I work to a weekly average and my phone app has a weekly button that tells me how I'm doing. It shows me how many NET calories I am under my weekly goal. The week runs Monday to Sunday which is great for me as it's on the weekend that I tend to eat and drink more so through the week I can bank some…

Sometimes I do but usually I leave it a while or miss logging my weight for a week. I should have weighed in yesterday but I felt very bloated due to TOM so didn't bother - I only left it a day though as today I felt fine and I logged a 1.4lb loss!

When we're recruiting I check all the applications for bad spelling and grammar. After all, if they can't take their time to get it right at that point then how can I be confident that they can write a decent letter or email? For me, attention to detail is key. I suppose this differs depending on the type of job someone is…

It's supposed to add your exercise calories to your daily allowance! When you exercise you earn more calories and you are meant to eat them! It's your net calories that need to be at least the magic 1200!

Quick and easy one for you Val! Sauté 2 medium onions until soft Add the lentils and. 1/2 tsp each of mixed herbs and basil, 2 tbsp tomato purée, tin of chopped tomatoes. 1tsp brown sugar, salt & pepper Simmer for about 15 mins until thickened and here you have a basic savoury lentil dish - you could add chilli/curry…

Hello from Bolton, Lancs!

Check out the Goals page. I'm 202lbs and if I set to lose 2lbs a week it gives me 1200 calories a day but the Projected loss shown on the goals page says to expect 1.6lbs so 1200 is clearly not worth doing. If I change to 1.5lbs a week it give me more calories and tells me to expect to lose 1.5lbs, same with 1lb a week…

Hi I'm in agreement with walking being the best start...if you have a smart phone get the app called Endomondo. This will log how far you walk and how fast as will as your average speed and calories burned so you can see your improvements - it synchronises with their website and it's a really good tool. Hope this helps.…

Try to think of exercise as "earning calories" rather than "burning calories". On a a non-exercise day you have 1200 calories to eat. On an exercise day you earn extra calories so you have the right to eat them! Get stuck in!

These will mainly be known to UK folks and even they may not have heard of some of them! Status Quo at Schiphol Airport (told Francis Rossi he was my mum's favourite) Bryan May from Queen in a record shop in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (helped him look for a Miracles album) Marillion - a friend of mine married Steve Rothery the…
