Lotta broscience happening here with the asparagus talk. But, hey, you are very lean, nice work.

I believe the difference between losing weight at 20 and at 50 is mostly psychological. Anyone can log a daily calorie deficit and lose weight. But you have to get your mind around it and commit to it. To do so is easier when you're younger, flying around town all weekend, being active all of the time, with a faster,…

It is obsessive to know what your bank account balance is every day, or just staying on top of your financial picture?

If you are counting calories daily, and still not losing weight, then cut your calories by another 100 and wait a month. If nothing, then cut by another 100 and wait another month. If nothing, then cut by another 100 and wait another month. Do this until you are losing at least 1 pound every 2-3 weeks. Once you are at your…

Starvation mode is a myth. Search google for "starvation mode myth" and go to first link. But as you lose weight your body will make it harder to lose more weight; this is true. Recommend increasing protein intake as percentage of your diet and lifting weights. You will achieve leaner physique without needing to lose…

For strength training, lift weights. For cardio, lift weights faster.

also agree

At your low weight, it will be increasingly difficult to lose weight as fast as you already have. I would recommend increasing your weight room time and decreasing cardio time. Spend 2x as much time in the weight room as you do on the treadmill. Emphasize muscle building. Increased muscle mass will enhance your physique…

Given that you are starting at 250 pounds, I could see you losing 60-80 pounds in five months if you're 100% dedicated. I lost 70 pounds in five months. I started at 230, and after five months I was down to 161. I've gained weight (muscle) through strength training and I now weigh 175, but more than a year later I've kept…

Not essential. I wouldn't eat back your exercise until you reach maintenance anyways (then again, I lift, almost no cardio, so not many calories to eat back).
-
Fat loss difficulty is going to increase, but keeping your calories that low is a surefire way to lose lean mass. Agree with Vismal, should increase your calorie intake now to lose more slowly.
-
You lose weight by maintaining a deficit... not by lifting weights... not by doing cardio. You don't have to exercise to be in a deficit. That being said, a marathon runner eating maintenance and a weightlifter eating maintenance look completely different. So you tell me: are cardio and lifting really exactly the same?…

EXACTLY. I'd bet even people that log every single item are off 5%-10% on average in terms of expected vs actual calories.

It's ok to go over your calorie limit by a serving of ketchup, methinks
-
Totally agree. Trying going without but don't demonize the process for others.

If you have the time, great... Log it. I find logging zero calorie items to be an inefficient use of my time. I work 12 hours days and have two kids under three (like many of us) so my circumstances call for any shortcut I can muster that doesn't Measurably affect my results. Wish I had time to track oregano and iced tea,…

No. I usually don't log things that are less than 25 calories. But I also don't log exercise. It is a compromise I have found balances out in the long term and saves me logging time. I would only recommend this strategy if you have already reached maintenance. YMMV.

I said MFP is a tool; I never said you have to use it for every bite that goes in your mouth. I don't log every food I eat every day, just like I don't log everything I do in a calendar every day. Where did you get that I said I log every calorie I eat every day, and will do so until I die? My point is that a tool is not a…

Is Quicken a crutch to your spending habits? Is a daily calendar a crutch to your time management? Is an address book a crutch to your memory? Sorry, not true that MFP is a crutch. It is a tool. After almost two years of tracking, I still learn new things about macronutrients through tracking. And if you are serious about…
