Weight loss is just a simple calorie deficit. There is no special way to lose weight and being too restrictive can backfire on you. If there is no special way to lose weight then I don't know why I can't do it! I actually thought the no s premise sounded reasonable, eat a normal one plate meal 3 times a day and cut out…

I am not certain of my body fat % but I believe it has increased. I weighed 143 when I began and according to calculations I made with measurements and online calculators it seemed to be 26%. I am not certain it was accurate however. I have gained 10 pounds since Christmas and am also having a terrible time cutting. I am…

Why would they jump on them. They are trying to help their daughter. You can do that in a way that won't teach her to be an obsessive diet minded woman. Remember she needs to eat. Small deficit is best. Don't restrict her. Provide healthy foods.

I would say it is good that you got rid of the cookies and chips. try making a special dessert every couple weeks and enter give away the extra or throw it away. And allow for a treat almost daily, something she likes after dinner or something. Show her she can eat her treats in moderation and still lose weight. It is…

Hello! I also need accountability and suggestions...

I have also had mysterious ongoing skin ailments clear up since eating more calories. I used to have really chapped dry heels that itched like crazy and eczema on my right hand only. I believe it has cleared up due to changed in my eating and using more natural cleaning products the last few months.

Wow that is a lot of information and I will most likely read through again. Jaeone, i always want to eat more. I have been trying to keep it at 1600 and I am always a couple hundred over it seems. And yes I can eat less junk in my diet. I am just concerned because I have not seen any improvement in almost 2 months and…

Wow! You look awesome!

Sounds like you are doing great! I agree with the trainer to at least eat 1700 calories. You have to find out what your BMR and TDEE is and eat at a slight deficit. Do not be concerned about what your MFP friends are eating, let them eat 1500..you will be feeling and looking better with more!
-
You are in Eat more to lose and have to eat a lot more than 1200...this group is all about not limiting yourself to 1200. You do not have to do that to lose weight and it will actually be to your detriment if you do. It is too low and you body will hold onto everything because it is not enough. So do not be concerned with…

What Glassgalim said and google eat more to lose weight. You will find everything you have to know there. A lot of people were telling you eating 800-1000 is not enough and they are right. 1200 is not enough ether. You have to figure out your BMR and your TDEE which will be high because you walk so much and you eat above…

Bump I really want to know the answer to this...I am about the same BF as you and do it looks about the same workout. Except I do want to lose...

According to scooby calc you are to eat between 2000 and 2200 calories depending on whether you are moderately or very active. It sounds like you are very active. Just my opinion but I don't think you have to drink 14 cups of water daily. Drinking only when you are thirsty should be enough, including coffee! If I drank 14…

Interesting, thanks again Haybales! I actually lift and do cardio the same amount of time. I will keep that in mind if I am increasing cardio. I have 15 pounds to lose.
-
Wow you seriously look amazing! What is your workout?
-
Thank you, that makes sense.
-
That is not bad? As in it is a decent amount of exercise? But you still think I need to add on 3 more 30 min walks to be at moderate level? I can do that or can't I just eat 150 calories less daily and not do the extra walking? (1700) I like to walk but am trying to exercise the least amount of time. Just wondered if it…

Military is 39%! And Covert is 26%. Average of 2 is 32%. I guess I should go with that? I used the scooby calc to give me TDEE. I cannot access your spreadsheet. Wish I could.
-
Yes this was very important for me to learn thanks to Heybales! He told me about the 250 test and I did that to discover what my true TDEE was. Finally when I consistently ate the 250 over what I had thought to be my TDEE I gained the one pound. And that is how I knew what my TDEE was.
-
Right I want to be the most accurate. That is the problem. I am not certain of my body fat %. When I plugged into the body fat calculator on fat2fit it says 26% but I noticed on other sites online that my body fat % is much higher. So I plugged in both to scooby calc and the low number I got says 2036 calories a day for…
-
All right I understand smaller deficit so I will begin with the 10%. I asked in another post how the 2 different scooby calcs gave me 2 different numbers by 100 calories. I am thinking I should probably go with the lower but noticed it is the most accurate Mifflin calc result TDEE - 20% so I am a little confused about…
-
Join the club I am in the same boat! I also ate at 1200 for a few years and am now really regretting it. Only advice I can give is to do the smallest deficit you can. 15% may be better. Small difference but they say it helps.
-
Wow I am so glad you have talked to me about this....I was ready to cut again and it seems that is not what I should do and I know it didn't work before. I am really trying to understand all this. What you said about increasing LBM during a new cardio routine, when I gained a few pounds last winter I went right back to…
-
So with no measurement change, doesn't sound like you were trading fat or LBM either. If lifting heavy, that shouldn't be possible. Heybales, I am confused with your last statement, if my measurements have not changed I did not trade fat or LBM, what is LBM? I guess I did not log what I used to eat before MFP and when I…
-
So you also think I should be moderate? It says my TDEE (Katch) is 2183 for moderate activity. So will I not lose any weight until I eat at my true TDEE for an extended period? I will try eating at 2250 for a couple weeks and see what happens. If I am understanding correctly, I will gain a couple pounds once I pass my true…

My 40 hr work time is spent buying groceries 1x a week (45 min or so walking), cleaning a house about an hour a day and caring for children. I burn calories doing all these things but am only doing a couple hours of exercise a week so I thought light would encompass the exercise and life I described, I could be wrong…
-
TDEE minus 15% cut is about 1700 and with the Katch method it says 1600. I am happy to eat 1600 calories a day but...I had been doing that for months and my weight and measurements continue to remain the same! It has stayed the same since last winter whether I eat 1200, 1600 or 2000 and I am trying to figure out what I can…
