  • Thank you all so far for posting a day of your diet! This is really helpful and its leading me to think I should probably be preparing some healthy meals in advance I can eat throughout the week, at least for dinner. Breakfast and lunch seem like meals that might b easier to prep on the spot!
  • Honestly you're all good. At 5'0 and 115lbs sounds like you are at a healthy weight. Pay them no mind and just pay attention to how you feel. Congrats on the weight loss!
  • Thank you. Yeah you're right. I'm pretty much sitting at my desk all day. I'm using my brain a lot more but not moving around during the day, though I've still tried to make it to the gym a few times a week. Also I was unemployed before so I was going to the gym 5-6 days per week, and I was getting a lot of sleep, which I…
  • okkaay.. well thanks for your input.
  • Thank you. I might try this. Cardio seems to work for me. Some light weight training might work too but the cardio seems to work with my weight loss when I'm eating the right amount of cals. I will cut the cheat days. Thanks!
  • OR my issue could be that I gained the weight from splurges that added up and it's not that 1500 is too much but that my weight loss is slower at this level so I just haven't seen any immediate/noticeable weight loss at this level?
  • I've had a few. I don't skip any days of logging. But I've had days where I have gone over. So are you saying if I stuck to 1500 exactly daily I wouldn't have possibly gained any weight? Anyways I know I can stick to the 1500 without the cheat days, but my question is, is this too high for me to still lose, or was a gain…
  • I love your questions! :) Lets get to the bottom of this! When I used to eat 1200 calories daily I did eat exercise calories back. If I burned 400 or so I would probably eat 300 back. But now that I started the TDEE-20% method I was trying to just eat 1500 and not eat exercise calories back because its supposed to be all…
  • I kind of felt like I had been gaining for a while. Not just in the past 2-3 weeks. It was just slow gain. My issue is I don't know if its from having cheat nights sometimes and this has just added up over time, or the increase in calories is contributing. I go online to one of the many TDEE/BMR calculator websites. I…
  • I would say its been 3-4 weeks now. But I think my weight was kind of sneaking up before, since Thanksgiving maybe.
  • I am doing mostly cardio at the gym about 55 minutes combined of elliptical and walking fast on a high incline. Before I was doing this 5-6 times per week, and with my new job it will be more like 4 times per week.
  • I think you need to do better than just guess at what is going on with your life. You say you " feel " as if you have gained weight. Well, step on a scale and you will know. You say you " probably " went to the gym five times a week and you " probably " will go another five times. Probably means maybe or presumably, which…
  • Yes makes sense. I might give that a go! thanks!
  • Yes I went up to the 1500 suddenly. But to be honest for awhile now I had been having a hard time sticking to the 1200 so I had been eating somewhat more than that for awhile. Noticing that I just decided lets do the TDEE-20% method, because I was feeling like a failure going over my 1200 calories everyday - even though I…
  • I am not eating back exercise calories. I am just going for 1500 daily and not paying attention to my net number which is figuring in my workouts. I was doing that before though 1200 a day and on days I'd exercise I'd eat some workout calories back but maybe not all. I guess depends on the day. However after I've been…
  • I do log my splurges. Actually they probably are more like 2200 range. A bad one would be 2400-2500 but this doesn't happen too often. But yes I have to watch out for this and be more careful. I think now that I'm eating more daily I have to cut this out for the most part.
  • Thank you! I totally read all of that first article and it makes sense to me. I am the low calorie eater, with binges. I don't really binge per say. But in the past when I was eating 1200 calories daily, I would end up feeling deprived and eat 2,000 ish on Friday or Saturday. So yeah I'm sure my body needs to get used to…
  • This could be a small part of it. I think I'm logging pretty accurately, since I've been doing it for awhile. I feel like weighing and measuring has given me a pretty good eye to judge things when I am eating out too. But if anything I just need to watch out for those weekend nights sometimes where I just eat what I want…
  • Yes, I think I log pretty accurately. But maybe yes it is my sometimes splurges (which I was totally getting away with before) that could be adding up on me. So frustrating. I worked so hard to take this weight off and I'm just not sure where exactly I'm going wrong. I can cut out my weekend splurges but I hope its not the…
  • Yeah maybe. I did used to eat less calories, like 1200. I did that for awhile, like a year or more. I lost 20lbs. But now I work out pretty much 5 days a week so eating 1200 was kind of beginning to feel less manageable. Also when you eat 1200 even if you eat one wrong thing for the day, you can throw off the whole day.…
  • Yes maybe its a matter of what I'm eating and I need to increase my protein. I mean technically I shouldn't be too hungry because I used to eat less than this for awhile. But at a certain point maybe I had gotten used to paying attention to the net numbers and eating back exercise calories. Thanks.
  • Okay thank you! Yeah someone was telling me before I was calculating it wrong and I didn't think so since I had tried it on 3 different websites!!
  • Thanks for your input! I am working out about 5x per week, and mostly doing cardio burning about 400 calories each time, and maybe 1 day of yoga which burns less calories. I should probably redo my calculations and make sure everything is right again. But I think your idea of netting at least at my BMR on workout days…
  • Yeah I know, I'm confused. I asked a question on this board before and someone was telling me I was calculating my TDEE higher than it should be - It was 1,985. So I thought I was doing something wrong and lowered the calories a little after my calculation. I am 5'2'', 115, 34 yr old female, and I work out about 5x per…
  • Yeah could be. I'm actually thinking what I need to lose to get to my goal weight might be closer to 10lbs. I haven't weighed in awhile and I kinda felt like I might have gained a bit lately - in my struggle to eat this low level of calories and then having it backfire and eating too much at other times. So yes I want to…
  • Yes you could be right on this. I've had a hard time losing the last few lbs. I would say I have 7-10lbs to lose to get there. Maybe I will subtract a smaller percentage. But all in all glad I decided to eat more. I was feeling too deprived and now I'm ready to lose weight but be more satisfied! Thanks!
  • Hi! Hmm. I 'm confused wonder why you got a different calculation for my TDEE. I checked 3 different websites and it came up the same. I put moderate exercise for each which is 3-5 days per week, and I am closer to 5 days. Now I'm worried my calculation isn't right. Do you think if I'm going up to eating 1500 or so per day…
  • Awesome! That's some great progress. I need to start adding in some weight training too, I do mostly cardio and I would like to tone up and strengthen. Well I'm excited to get on this new path and still be able to lose weight! :)
  • Thanks for your input. It sounds great. And just to verify are you steadily losing weight this way, just at a slower pace? I did the 1200 calorie thing for awhile, probably a year. But now I can barely keep it up, I eat over most days and I'm just not feeling satisfied. And yes like you say then I feel more vulnerable to…
  • Thanks for the link. I read it over, and it seems to make sense. I think I will give this a try and see how it works for me!!
