  • Ciao ragazzi!
  • We have pasta most days - I measure out the portions, using around 60grams (dry) for myself. This is more than sufficient and it is for our primi. Then we'll have meat/cheese platter/fish/legumes of some sort etc with a pile of veges (salad, steamed, baked etc) My advice would be to load up on the vegetables.. I try to eat…
  • Ciao!! I'm also in Italy... To be honest, I still eat pasta and have no plans to cut it out at all. Have just lowered my portion size. I have 60grams if I don't want any bread with my meal, or 100grams roughly if I don't have any bread. If I'm using small pasta for Minestrina (corallini pasta for example cooked in homemade…
  • No, never save calories for alcohol.. still drink alcohol - mainly wine, but the odd cocktail.. drink maybe once or twice a week, maybe more, maybe less. And yes, I'm still losing weight.
  • I'm from New Zealand - sheep shaggers anyone
  • TInks, I still think you rock! I've come back to this thread a couple of times today, despite I have a raging headcold that hasn't subsided and I haven't logged my food since yesterday lunch time, just because you are an awesome inspiration! My husband thinks I'm slightly weird to be constantly oggling another womans body…
  • See I don't for a second where the OP is gloating and/or preaching! I'm a firm believer that nobody can make YOU feel guilty/bad about yourself or something pertaining to your life but yourself. And I clearly can't speak for the OP, but I figured she was wanting to grab the attention of all the Mammas, like myself who have…
  • Pomodori Ripieni Tomatoes, halved and gutted (it's late, I have a headcold and can't think of the proper word in english, sorry) turn them upside down on a plate to get rid of excess water. In a bowl, add your tuna and chop up finely italian parsely, red onion (preferably fresh if you can get them) capers and add a tsp of…
  • I made a decision to buy an egg this year.. got a huge Tartufone Fondente, yummo! Can't wait to crack it open.. Hope everyone enjoys theirs :)
  • No not at all. If I were to ask here for nutritional info I'd be laughed out of the restaurant. Good thing I would never ask.
  • I can't say the scale is saying eating more is working for me, but how I'm feeling in general and my clothes certainly say it is! I starting here just over a month ago and like most wanted the weight to come off as quickly as possible so was eating 1200cals a day. The first 10days or so I felt fantastic, then into the next…
  • Couldn't agree more with you, great post. I have in the past cut out all of those awful 'bad' white carbs and well, it didn't get me very far! (just had me craving them like crazy) I now take inspiration from seeing the people around me, who for the large part are all in a healthy weight range. I can honestly go days…
  • Coming back from holiday (2mths summertime there) and realising I'd put on 5kilos and most of my winter clothes wouldn't fit!.. and looking through family photos since my daughter was born and realising 98% of them were of my daughter and husband because I hate having my photo taken. And realising I ate pretty much double…
  • Hey I live in Italy, more than happy to have more friends, feel free to add me
  • I agree with this clever lady. Unless you plan to sustain this diet for the rest of your life, I don't personally see the point.
  • yes this is definetly mine.. she is stunning!! I've been trawling through these pages hoping she'd come up
  • we make pasta with chickpea sauce.. basically cook off your chickpeas, then drain off most about half of the remaining juice.. over heat add some fresh rosemary and garlic (chopped finely), salt and pepper to taste, then blizz it all together.. add dry pasta to this and cook it in the sauce
  • Hmm, I agree for the most part, but personally my having gelato, going out for pizza, having a dessert etc. isn't rewarding myself.. it's me thinking towards to future. Once I'm maintaining I know I will be eating these things every now and again, I'm not going to turn down these things forever, so I incorporate them into…
  • If you're craving mcdonalds why not make yummy burgers at home. I make them as I prefer homemade. Also usually buy frozen french fries and bake them, And if that doesn't do the trick, then go and have Mcds.. plan it before hand so you don't feel guilty about it. I still go out generally once a fortnight for pizza and…
  • Mozzarella di bufala.. although it's always been an obsession of mine. Slowly the tastier tomatoes are coming out which are yummy! Rocket - love the stuff and eat almost daily. gelato - proper artisan gelato from my favourite gelateria, yummo!
  • Once a fortnight at the dieticians office.. couldn't handle doing it anymore than that, and it's quite exciting waiting those two weeks
  • hahaha, that made me laugh too! This is perhaps a little too much info, but I've noticed that each time I visit the bathroom, well I pee more in one go, rather than having to go mulitple times throughout the day and night. the first couple of weeks, I would be busting to go and felt quite disappointed in how little it…
  • Ciao Sakura.. Benvenuta!
  • I drink between 2-3litres a day and have been for roughly 3 weeks. The first 2 weeks were horrid in regards to needing to use the toilet, I was seriously in there every half hour! The last week I have noticed that I'm pretty much back to normal, going every 2-3 hours generally, so I'd say just be patient and it will even…
  • Very supportive..occasionally he cracks jokes at my expense, but it's all light-hearted and I giggle along with him. Funny this thread has come up as I was just saying yesterday how great he's been. He rings me mid-morning every day to see how my exercising is going, reminds me gently that perhaps dessert two days in a row…
  • 1. Bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine Steak) 2. Pizza with pancetta, mozzarella and rocket OR prosciutto crudo, porcini and mozzarella 3. greasy Fish and chips! (Not that I have that here  )
  • Drink a glass or two with your dinner, rather than before or after. Generally I only open a bottle when we sit down to eat, or before if I need it for cooking, but we eat with our meal - something I've learnt from my husband. I have cut out the drinking on the couch etc. While I completely understand how alcohol postpones…
  • buongiorno! I'm also from Italy although I'm not Italian, but am on this journey. Feel free to add me if you want. I've just started on here a couple of weeks ago :)
  • Haha, I was just about to post this! I remember as a kid, we ate them. Also rotten corn.. corn fermented (in Maori - kaanga piro) in running water. Then mixed with cream. The smell is horrendous and I've only tried it once - taste isn't so bad, I just couldn't stand the smell!
