  • I agree about the artificial sweetners. They do a number on my system now. I can't have them at all. I hope you're able to have your coffee again. I love my coffee!
  • I'm 21 months post op,and have been at goal for one year now. I eat 1500-1900 calories per day. I'm fairly active, but don't always exercise everyday. The days I do exercise I feel awesome no matter how much I eat. The days I don't, I feel yucky, and I feel like i'm struggling. Tweety, my dr never changed my calories. I…
  • @Karlottap if you have any questions, feel free to PM me!
  • I had plastic surgery. I had lost 120 pounds, was at my goal, and went in and had a circumferential trunk lift (lower body lift) Ended up losing another 10 pounds of skin. I didn't need any lipo. It was all skin that they took off. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Best decision (aside from my sleeve) that I ever made!
  • after my sleeve, I gave up artificial sweetners. I use real sugar, just less. I still managed to lose 130 pounds, and have been at goal, and maintaining for 9 months. I have never had any issues with my sugars, diabetes, or anything like that. For me personally, I just did not like the taste of it. I prefer the real stuff,…
  • Are these the acid meds? Sorry i'm in Canada, the names aren't always the same. Maybe you need to be on them longer. I know in my group, some people are on the meds for life.
  • Hi i'm June 24, 2014! Feel free to add me if you'd like! I'm not always on these boards, due to work, but I do log in to mfp daily.
  • The closer to goal I got, the worse my period got. My last one lasted 59 days and it was super heavy. It was so bad, I went back to my gyn. They are planning to do a hysterectomy on me. Weird thing is, I am now at my goal weight (one year post op from WLS) I had a tummy tuck/lower body lift on June 16. I had my period on…
  • My pillow. I have two that I love, and I had one with me at all times after my surgery! Good luck!
  • I would just flat out ask her "What's your problem with me? My journey is none of your business, so back off" I had similar issues when I was preop. I even had a NURSE ask me "Are you sure you want to do this? You are so small, you don't need surgery" I was almost 290 at my highest, and 251 day of surgery. Apparently I…
  • For your information I never said I could afford to take three months off work. I actually never even mentioned my time off on this thread. You did your homework. Kinda creepy. I am laid off, without pay I might add, for three months. I wouldn't quite call that "good fortune". Good PLANNING & budgeting would be a more…
  • Maybe if you continued reading my post you would have read the part where I said "I know that is so silly, and it will all be worth it." Nowhere did I ever say that I don't appreciate my "fortunate financial circumstances", which are really none of your business, so why you are bringing MY finances, or lack of, for that…
  • You must be quite soon out if you just went back to work? Be kind to yourself, and let yourself heal. Baby steps! I didn't even attempt exercise until 3 months. I did walk a little, but nothing much. After I went back to work (I was lucky and had three months off) I would walk everyday for 30 minutes. I would come home,…
  • Honestly, I was TERRIFIED about the drain removal. I was freaking out about it, and had major anxiety over it. It really was nothing. It did feel weird, but I had zero pain with it. Just remember to take a big deep breath, and breathe out while they pull it out. As long as the nurse/doctor pulls it out in one swoop, it…
  • You went home the next day!? Wow! That was fast! I had my sleeve on a Tuesday, and stayed in the hospital until the Friday night. I was on a pain pump for three days, so I had pretty much no pain LOL I felt pretty good when I went home, and didn't need any pain meds Hope you are feeling better soon! Take is easy, and get…
  • HUGS! Happy Easter! I hope your day is going well, and you are with friends <3 I am considering this a "quiet Easter" instead of lonely. I'm hanging out with my kitten today  My kids are all away (daughter is at school across the country, and both my boys decided to go to my moms house 4 hours away) My husbands mom…
  • Hi & welcome!!! Stalling at this point is VERY common. So common in fact, it's got it's own name... the dreaded three week stall LOL It will pass. Just keep doing your thing, and the weight will come off again. My advice is to step back from the scale for a few days. Maybe just pick one day per week to weigh yourself on.…
  • YAY YOU! I knew you could do it! Congratulations on getting your surgery & welcome to the losers bench! Take care of yourself! Sending you speedy healing vibes!
  • I find EVERYTHING too sweet now! I used to have a MAJOR sweet tooth, I LOVED my candy! I can't eat it anymore (which is a GOOD THING LOL) because it's too sweet! Even my beloved starbucks lattes that I get, are too sweet, so I always ask for half sweet, or 1 pump of syrup, depending on what i'm getting. I have to really…
  • My mother in law did something similar. Not donuts, but she went to DQ and bought sundaes & milkshakes for everyone. Figured a milkshake would be good for me, you know since, I was on a full fluid diet and all. I tore a strip off of her. I was already a hormonal wreck. I basically told her I didn't go through everything I…
  • I guess each surgeon is different. I asked mine if I needed anything like this, and both he, and my anesthetist said no it's not necessary. I do have no NSAIDS on my doctors chart, and at my pharmacy. I figure if i'm conscious enough to take a pill at a hospital, I can tell them no NSAIDS. I had VSG surgery, not RNY
  • Everybody is different, be sure to ask your dr. I had sleeve, and I take a prenatal vitamin, vit D, and iron. I take pills now. When I was first out, I had a centrum chewable (silver) and liquid iron. I've never been told about B12. I'll ask next time.

  • I'm 9 months out and I eat 1000-1500 depending
  • I can't do carbonation. I get super bloated and it's uncomfortable. It's not something I even want to try at this point! (9 months)
  • I am a PreK teacher. There is NO way I could have gone back to work before 6 weeks. My job is very physical. I was lucky, I had my surgery a week after summer break started, so I had 12 weeks off. I was fine when I went back
  • Drink lots of water, stay away from the sodium, and don't exercise this weekend. If you do, just go for a walk, no weight training. You will lose that weight by Monday. I'm sure it's just water weight! Good luck to you! Keep us posted!
  • What size are you now? I'd go with one size smaller than you are right now, and have it altered if needed. And, also look for dresses that aren't super fitted. More of a flowy type dress if possible. It won't be as obvious if it doesn't fit perfectly. Or look for a corset type as opposed to one that zips up. Things like…
  • And now i'm almost 9 months out, and it has stopped completely. I started taking omega 3's at 7 months, and that helped my hair significantly!
  • It's not unusual. As long as you are sticking to your program, this will pass. Your body will do some weird stuff. It's been through a lot. Just keep an eye on things, if it doesn't turn around in a week or so, maybe call your nutritionist and go over your eating with her/him. Good luck!!!
  • I get that when I eat too much, or too fast. My advice is slow down, and be VERY mindful of how much you are eating Hope it goes away, it's not fun!
