  • I was chubby all throughout my childhood, from about age four. My mother was an emotional eater and that was pretty ingrained in me and my sister. We were homeschooled and pretty much grazed on snack foods all day. My sister was slightly chubby, but I was obese. By age 11 I was 180lbs and was sent to a bunch of dieticians…
  • This is pretty much my exact routine. I do this 2-3 times during the week and add in one longer workout where I also do HIIT on the weekend.
  • Lots of similarity! 1. Pre-logging the night before 2. I push back eating until I'm pretty hungry, normally around noon. Not a true IF, but it stops me from eating 600 calories before lunch. 3. Walk 10K steps a day and/or cycle to work, I hate cardio machines 4. Heavy lifting 3x a week 5. No grazing, I normally do Coffee /…
  • I've also been "stuck" at 156-157 for a month. I had been able to eat 1500 calories a day but I think now that i'm close to a normal BMI (I'm 5'6") I needed to drop to 1300. I'm now down to 155 after a couple days of careful logging. Definitely get the happy scale app, its so reassuring to see that you are actually losing,…
  • I do kind of lazy intermittent fasting. I just don't eat until I'm hungry, which is often noon or 1pm, but is sometimes 10am. It normally works out to about 15:9
  • I used to be pre-kids (cycled 100-200K a week, plus walked 10K a day and weight trained 4x a week). But now with a baby and a three year old I don't get anywhere near as much exercise. My 68 year old father swims 2500 meters every day.
  • This is why I do a loose intermittent fasting (I know not so popular on this board). I really like my nighttime glass of wine or dessert and my mid afternoon latte. So I eat - 12pm Brunch 3pm Latte 7pm Dinner 9pm Wine and/or snack
  • My second baby is 8 months old, and I have 15lbs to lose! I lost 5lbs this month since I stopped breastfeeding and cut calories. Feel free to add me! I log daily.
  • I had the same experience breastfeeding my first but it went much better with my second (you make more milk with each pregnancy). Big hugs, I found the whole ordeal super stressful. Fed is best :) I've found with both pregnancies the initial weight drop of fluids and baby is easy but anything left over afterwards is likely…
  • I'm 5'6'' and currently 142, but was 134 before having my daughter two years ago. I liked being that weight but it took a lot of work to maintain. Pic below of me at current weight
  • I got bronchitis followed by shingles so MFP has been the last thing on my mind for the past month. I'm so happy to see this post resonated with so many people! For what it's worth, despite not exercising at all for a month I maintained in the low 140s...so this is definitely a weight my body feels comfortable at. Maybe…
  • I think losing 130 is very inspiring, and maintaining that loss is even more awesome. Good for you :)
  • I second this. When I was prescribed this diet by my gastroenterologist I was super overwhelmed but I basically used it like an elimination diet. I cut everything out and then tried adding foods in to see how I felt. I can actually eat white bread in small amounts (like an english muffin) but can't eat whole grain bread or…
  • I second FODMAP. I have pretty severe gastric issues and my gastroenterologist recommended this diet. It really works and once you get used to it it is easier than completely avoiding grains (i.e. I eat rice, oats, spelt but limit wheat and don't eat any fibrous vegetables like cauliflower or cabbage.)
  • I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia as a child (very rare) and have had 7 surgeries for joint and gastric issues, now I'm undergoing a boatload of tests to see if I actually have a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I'm currently doing pretty well, except for fatigue and although I'm maintaining I second…
  • Thank you again everyone for your insightful responses! I love the internet because it allows you to not feel alone in your experiences :) I also just found out I have an iron and vitamin D deficiency again (I live in Canada and have malabsorption issues). Winter sucks for exercise and motivation! Thank you! Yeah, I'm also…
  • Thank you everyone for you comments! It definitely makes me feel better. This pretty much sums it up. I'm not willing to do the amount of work right now (precise tracking, more exercise) right now that it would take to get leaner. I am also pretty happy with my body and 140ish is an easy weight for me to maintain. I know a…
  • I did nurse, but only until she was 8 months old. My hips and rib cage have definitely spread so that could be part of it. I also know that my body fat percentage is higher, I am much "softer" than before.
  • I am hypermoblie and have had multiple joint injuries and surgeries. I'm actually currently being evaluated for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Despite this I have been able to recomp and gain some muscle, it just took a long time. As @stanmann571 said I just have to be careful and not use by "full ROM". I found long-distance…
  • I'm 5'6.5'' currently 142 and losing baby weight but I previously maintained a range of 134-138 eating 1800 calories a day. I was very active, road cycling for 60 minutes 3x a week and lifting heavy 3x a week for 60 minutes. I also walk about 10,000 steps per day. I'm still quite active and I'm losing .5lbs a week at about…
  • @sijomial thanks for the info! Your quads look very strong to me!
  • Can I ask what exercises you do instead of squats? I also have knee issues (no ACL, PCL, screws in my right femur) and still squat but it doesn't feel great! I personally avoid running, plyometrics and contact stops due to said knee injury and hypermobile joints prone to injury.
  • I can maintain/lose and drink but since turning 30 I feel so terrible the next day if I have more than one drink that it ruins my workouts. I was able to get to my leanest and fittest while drinking 2 glass of wine every day in my 20's but I quit drinking while I was pregnant and never got a tolerance back. I guess it's…

  • I've done some research on it and the whole "breastfeeding makes you lose weight" thing is only true for about 60% of women. The other 40% (myself included) have trouble losing weight until they wean. It has to do with the amount of breastmilk you produce and how your body responds to prolactin hormones. I wouldn't stress…
  • Me too! I've been on maternity leave but done breastfeeding so it's been easier for me to have drinks in the evening. I'm going back to work next week so I'm trying to get back on track. I have gotten through two weeks only drinking 3-4 days a week. My goal is no drinks Monday-Thursday.
  • This. I got to my lowest weight and was my strongest when I took up road cycling as a hobby. I did it because I loved it, not to lose weight.
  • My daughter is almost one and I'm returning to work full-time next week, hoping that cycling to work plus lifting weights on my lunch break will get me back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I plan to try for number two next summer. Pre-pregnancy - 134 Full-term - 177 CW - 147 Height - 5'6'' Feel free to add me!
  • I'm about to go back to work after maternity leave and I'm planning to work out first thing because I'll want to be spending time with my baby after work and there is no way I'll go after she goes to bed at 7pm. My plan is to lay out all my clothes and pack my bags the night before so all I have to do is brush my teeth and…
  • 5'6'' 148 B: 37 W: 30 H:40 I'm pretty pear shaped and wear a size 8 in brands like J Crew or the Gap. I had a baby 11 months ago, before having her I weighed 134lbs, my measurements were 35/28/37 and I wore a size 4 :(
  • My loss always slows when I get into a healthy BMI and I'm losing vanity weight. Right now I'm trying to get from 148-135 and it's going very slowly.
