If you’re on fb, search for that low carb life and easy Keto/low carb recipes. Both have some easy to follow, delicious recipes, although there are some recipes that have a lot of steps. You just have to look! There are plenty one pan and crockpot meals. I also made some amazing peanut butter cookies yesterday that have…

there are a few groups for C25K, just search in groups for them. While some are old and not that busy, there is still a lot of great info out there. I can say that after joining a group and reading about the dreaded wk5d3, I didn't dread it nearly as much as I probably would have because I saw others with the same fears…

Agreed. I finished mine tonight as well. It felt like a major accomplishment to run that far, and hitting the one mile mark gave me an extra boost. I don't think I've ever ran for one mile straight, not even in high school when you have to run a mile for PE. And tonight I ran 1.6 miles straight. Such a long way from 60…

not the dryer. Just put it in the washer about once a week. You are supposed to put it in some sort of sack or something. I just put mine in the gentle cycle and let it air dry. And rinse after every use. But even with doing that, mine still stops working several times during my workouts, which is very annoying.

The chest strap comes with the HRM when you buy it. As said before, many Polar HRMs are water resistant meaning they can be worn in the water for water sports not including SCUBA, but it is suggested you don't push the buttons on the watch while in the water.

that might be it, I upped my calories by just a couple hundred and, while it did take a while, I've finally started losing and now it feels like it is just falling off. But I did go through a few weeks of nothing, then a few more weeks at a snails pace. So far this week I'm down three pounds :)

I am by no means an expert, but I can tell you what has worked for me. When I first started, I lost 13 in two weeks and then stalled for several weeks. I upped my calories from 1200 to 1350 and began exercising, and it started to slowly come off again. Now I've found a grove and have begun losing 1-2 pounds per week, for a…

depending on how much you weigh, it is very possible. Also, last week you could have been retaining water so you may have actually weighed a bit less. And most people usually see pretty decent numbers their first couple of weeks. It's not uncommon for a scale to vary 4-5 pounds in A DAY, let alone a week. It's just the…

Do you have a heart rate monitor? I added C25K as an exercise and then enter the info.

the Polar FT40 can be used in the water and shows your zones/limits. I'm not sure about the syncing though.

I can't live without my Polar FT40.

I've never been a runner but have always been a little envious of those that are, and here I am on week 4! I was surprised when I did week three by how easy I found it (if easy is ending looking like I'm gonna have a heart attack!). I jog on a bike trail and do the run in one direction, then I turn around and do the entire…

I never weigh myself during the first couple of weeks after I start a new exercise routine. I wish I could recall the article, perhaps someone else here might, but a couple of weeks ago someone posted a wonderful article that explains why people actually gain weight after starting a new exercise routine, so you are not…

I've had one day that I didn't log everything because I went to a Chinese buffet and didn't know how, exactly, to log everything I ate. That being said, I don't look at it as cheating. I think if I label it as 'cheating' and 'dieting', I'll set myself up for failure by forcing myself to follow rules and remain within…

^^ This^^ I was just comparing pics yesterday, and really I don't see much. Another place I have noticed is in a couple pairs of jeans that I couldn't get into when I first started this journey. And then there came the point where yeah they fit, but heck no I can't wear them, just look at that muffin top! And then I'd try…

I had been about to say, nooooooo this is not normal, and suggest drinking more water or finding small snacks to eat every couple of hours or so. Then I read on and saw maybe I'm not normal! When I first started it was a challenge, but now it just feels like life and I'm really not concerned about food until it's time for…

they are gender specific in terms of design (and the female designs tend to have a smaller band), but really you could get any one and it wouldn't make a difference. When entering in your stats, it asks for your gender.

neither :) They're both just a guess. The closest you'll get to accuracy is with a reliable heart rate monitor that includes a chest strap. And I couldn't tell you which one is the better guess either. I compared some of my results according to my HRM with what MFP said a while ago, and sometimes MFP was under what I…

I actually enter it in as C25K and enter in the cals burned manually. I use a heart rate monitor. For week two, the last couple of days I have were for 29 minutes at 278 calories and 25 minutes, 228 calories. But I also don't always just stop with the timer, as you can see by the varying times.

For those of you who want to know the minor differences between the polar products, they have a compare feature on their website, which is how I narrowed down my choice. You can compare up to three watches at a time. http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/compare?product1=23349

Thank you! It makes me wonder if all those 700 stats are people saying they burn that much just because that's what Zumba says you burn. I don't know why, but it is reassuring to hear from someone else that it is probably not malfunctioning. As for the look of the FT40 not being aesthetically pleasing, that was why I chose…

I have the FT40. It has a chest strap with sensors which is where your heart rate is monitored, and then a transmitter sends the info to the wrist watch component for you to read. I can't say which is better as I have no experience with the other one, but mine does what it is supposed to do. I will admit that I've been a…

I'm between 5'6 and 5'7, and at 150 I'm a size 6. I've never been lower than that, and that is my ultimate goal in weight loss this time around. Well, between a size 6 or 8. I'm also quite muscular and curvy, and the difference for me between a 6 and an 8 is about 5 pounds. So I cannot imagine what I would look like at 125…

I feel the same! After this long battle, this time around it's not even a struggle. I don't feel like I'm dieting, just more aware.

I almost wonder if it is in our heads, the withdrawals. I too drank coke of some sort for years, was extremely addicted and would drink five cans and up a day. I tried several times quitting with no luck at all. I would always get headaches from the lack of caffeine, no energy, etc. When I would quit, I'd have moderate…

I just started week 2 today. During week 1, the third day was the hardest for me! I really couldn't believe it, it was a struggle to make it the whole sixty seconds for the last few rounds. Because of that, I was dreading today. To prepare for it, I jogged in place after working out yesterday for ten minutes. I noticed I…

But I was thinking of buying Bob's other book 'Are You Ready?'. Has anyone else read it? Is it motivating or worth it to buy?
-
I hate to say this because I love Bob, but... I think this one is a bit extreme. I was very excited to buy and read The Skinny Rules and scoured through it in a day. But some of the rules I feel are too much or not necessary. While I believe the advice, I don't think most people could make the switch-over easily. I for one…

A lot of people log this in as circuit training for about 23 minutes. I was doing this for the first week or so before I got my heart rate monitor and found out how much MFP over estimates your calories burned! It was saying I was burning around 330 calories and my heart rate monitor averages between 230-260. But it also…

I take off Wednesday and Sunday, and it is amazing how much it helps.
