You have to eat enough calories a day otherwise your body goes into starvation mode and starts storing fat. Too few calories causes your body's metabolism to slow down, making it hard to burn calories.

I'd stick with MFP. Unless you're well over 200 pounds, you will most likely not burn over a 1000 calories. How much do you weigh if you don't mind me asking?

Regular exercise is actually supposed to lessen cramps, so I'd push through it if I were you. I don't mean go crazy but going walking or some yoga would help! It works for me! Eat a banana beforehand too.

It might be the brand you're buying? Have you tried testing other brands or maybe you lost a lot of weight around your stomach but your wear your pants lower than the area in which you lost weight.

I don't want to completely deprive myself of drinks with calories since I love fruit juice (100%) soooo much, so I try to make my only caloric beverage with breakfast. For any other meal, I drink water or the occasional green tea.
